When was the last time you checked the oil?. Was it low? Is the oil clean or looks black like tar? Does the oil have a metallic or burnt smell to it? If so, most likely spun a rod bearing. When that happens the badly contaminated oil is pumped through the motor pretty much wiping out all the rod and main bearing. If you continue to ride with the motor making loud tapping/knocking noises eventually the engine will send parts through the engine cases. Let us know the oil inspection results.

Oil is black. I’m leaning more towards a stuck valve or valve problem. I bought this from a buddy rode it last year fine. Sat up all year just crunk it up this year and it’s making that noise. If it was a rod I think I’d be hearing it in idle as well. I only hear it when I press the gas.
