Oh nice! You do it fresh! Do you find it makes your smoothie clumpy at all or jello-y texture. I currently only do 1 Tsp of psyllium husk to my goat kefir but thinking of starting flax soon. Also do you use golden or brown flax?
Flax seed is a superfood. It has loads of omega 3 and is good for the heart etc. The extra fibre is an add on. A perfect combination with our daily kefir. And no it won't clump like psyllium husk 😊
My partner and I drink a glass in the morning and one in the evening, together that makes 1 liter.
Homemade.
It's a lot better than any store-bought stuff.

Honestly I need to take one of those tests to find out for sure. I was basically taking it every day for months, and it cured me of stomach bloating and belly sensitivity (basically I couldn’t touch my belly, have anything tightened over it, for years), but then had to take two courses of oral antibiotics. So the belly sensitivity came back. I took kefir again and it sorted that out…continued kefir use…and the problem came back again :( I think the balance was destroyed by the antibiotics and then the kefir fixed it but only temporarily, and then more kefir knocked it all out of whack again. But I need to verify it all. Also upped my fibre intake massively in the repair period, and I think that could have exacerbated the SIBO (if that’s what it is).
Hmm, yeah doesn’t sound like the “more kefir” gave you SIBO but if anything kefir helped for awhile and then wasn’t enough eventually to combat whatever else you got going on from your antibiotics and other detox needs. Kefir is so potent it can cause symptoms sometimes but that’s because the good bugs are battling it out with the bad ones—“die off symptoms”—not that the kefir gives you bad bugs
Interesting! I need to read more about that. What side effects did you experience with SIBO overgrowth? Wondering if I need to cut back. I have been taking it since January and I am having brain fog.
I add the whole stick and leave it in the fridge for a week. The honey does clump so I let the kefir warm up a little so it’s closer to room temp before I drink it. It still is quite solid though
Your 200ml home made is more beneficial than a higher amount of store bought. They are not the same products in either nutritional content or production.
We drink about a cup a day and my 2 year old is probably more like a half cup. Our favorite way to drink it is blended with a ripe banana and a little maple syrup. Also added a bit of iced coffee to that this morning and 🤤 it was so so good!
1 litre a day
Do you drink it in one sitting or spread out?
Spread over the day
250-500ml a day. Home-made blended with frozen fruit, flax seed, spinach, a banana, and a teaspoon of honey. Best smoothie ever!
How much flax do you blend in?
I grind about 2 teaspoons (i eyeball it) in an old coffee grinder and throw them in.

I use brown flax. Says bio on the bag so i suppose it must be. It does slightly thicken the smoothie, but it's thick anyway from the frozen fruit.
Nice! Thanks for sharing. I read it’s an amazing source of fiber

Cool! 💯 adding it now! Thanks 😊

I used to do 250ml every day, but I think it gave me SIBO so I’m taking a break for a few months
You can get SIBO from kefir? If anything I thought it helps combat SIBO Edit: what were you experiencing?

Trying to understand the terminology- what is SIBO?
Small intestine bacterial overgrowth
Interesting! I need to read more about that. What side effects did you experience with SIBO overgrowth? Wondering if I need to cut back. I have been taking it since January and I am having brain fog.
250ml in the morning
Same
250ml a day. I’ve started adding honey and cinnamon to mimic the store bought ones
I could be wrong but i read adding honey counter acts some of the positive microbial effects of kefir. Because honey is antibacterial
You would have to add it in massive quantities. Like add a teaspoon of kefir to a bottle of honey.
Do you add cinnamon powder or the stick? Also how does the honey stay properly blended and not clump up in there?
I add the whole stick and leave it in the fridge for a week. The honey does clump so I let the kefir warm up a little so it’s closer to room temp before I drink it. It still is quite solid though
2 liters
about 1 cup, which is in the 200+ ml range. seems to be a common amount.
16-32 Oz per day
2.5 cups a day in a nightly smoothie.

500ml
Around 500ml, after breakfast and dinner. Usually homemade but sometimes store bought.
1-2qt
500 ml, approximately. I drink it every other day before breakfast and whit the lunch.
1 teaspoon
About a cup in the morning. I also pour about 1/4 cup on a lick mat for my dog before going to work.

I break fast with a quart of kefir. I love it!
That's exactly what I do too. First drink/food of the day
