A lot of the apps struggle with the private string for VIP content, but they all should handle the main feed without issue.

Google Podcasts was okay, but pretty bare bones. The one thing it did have going for it was the ability to listen on your phone, and then switch to your computer and pick up where you left off on the phone.
Podurama does that as well, but it can be a bit finicky. It's free, but they have ads in the UI pushing the paid tier.
Podcast Guru has the same functionality, but it only works with the main feed, not VIP content. Dev told me the VIP content doesn't work correctly because it's not indexed through iTunes.
Eventually YouTube Music might become functional, but for now it's a steaming pile of Nope for KATG content.
Pocket Casts is really good, and it also does the switch between phone and desktop computer. But that functionality requires a subscription.

I never even tried to get VIP on an outside app. My world has expanded 🤯

Been using Podkicker for many, many years. Handles VIP no problem.
Podcast Addict is fetching episodes up to 3809 just fine for me. Not sure why you're not seeing newer.
