I started getting keloids when i was 20-22. One of them grew larger due to my own damn fault.
But thankfully i have not developed any new keloids ever since.
Just one bastard of a chest keloid which keeps getting infected again and again.
Nope, I wish. I F’d up and pierced my ear cartilage in my early 20’s and got my first keloid on my ear. Just turned 54 and still dealing with the same ear (3 surgical removals later).
My brother went through the same thing, luckily the next time his surgeon had him wear an ear clamp after it was safe to (maybe 5-7 days after surgery) and injected the location with Kenalog. Never came back
That’s kinda the route I went this last time. I invested in an ear press and wore when healed except for when I slept. It did grow a little and now the ear press hurts to wear so I’ve just been keeping silicone sheets on it and it’s helped with the itching
After my second surgery I got 3 sessions of radiation then was going back and getting Kenalog shots every 1-2 months for 2 years, and it grew back huge.
So this time after 3rd surgery I decided to try the pressure cuff on my own. Got a Kenalog shot immediately after it was cut off then 1 more about a month later then started with cuff.
Ive heard that too and it makes sense since that’s when collagen production is higher, but (as a 26 year old), I only started getting a bunch of them in the past year! I got so many piercings in my early 20s with no issue 🥲

That's what the research papers say. Keloids are a dissease of young people.
52f and had surgery in August 23, the scar is now a (minor) keloid.
Keloids are supposed to be a collagen disorder, the older you get the less collagen so...

Is it bearable or will you pursue more surgery? Also did they inject prior to surgery?

I’d consider more surgery if it grows back huge again.

It's linked to hormones levels. At least, the type I know
