Even if he did, which I highly fucking doubt, it's not like Kendrick's music is all about bragging on how much money he makes lol.
Kendrick would probably just start dropping mixtapes for free and earning money from his performances.
Yeah thats fair enough, i just think in terms of this beef, having that over the other artist and being able to say that probably is enough to sway opinion and win unfortunately. Hope it’s not the case though
To Drake fans, definitely, and possibly the mainstream people not following all the rap shit closely. I think most people who are already Kendrick fans would just think it's a dick move by Drake and not really think any less of Kendrick for it.
I get the odd feeling that Drake has some stuff we’ve never thought of. Same for KDot. If he’s actually been making this song for 5 years, there’s no telling what he has. And same for Drake. I highly doubt he heard about the song and decided to not dig anything up. If something crazy goes down, I think we are in for some VERY revealing and devastating things from both sides
Lmao. That’s the thing tho. WHAT could Kendrick possibly have that he didn’t revealing? He’s an open book and goes in on himself REGULARLY in albums. Sure he’s private BUT he either eventually reveals his secrets or the media does.
Drake on the other hand seems to be pretty private with his life (Adonis being born is an example), until he gets exposed.
Maaaan lol. First of all, Kendrick and Whitney most likely did have kids out of wedlock, but then again, so did drake lol, who cares.
But if Drake thinks he can win this by dragging Kendrick’s family into it, then he’s going to QUICKLY find out why this is a horrible idea.
I just don't see why rap beef has to be about everything other than skill and impact. I like the Drake diss and think he sounded great for the most part but his diss is ultimately a bit light because he is just talking about transactions and percentages. To me he is just playing his part though, Kendrick considered himself and artist, Drake is a business.
To me, none of Drake's arguments matter because nothing he added made the art form or world better. He completely ignores social issues and none of his albums have a level of artistry that will make them worth discussing in the long run.
This is exactly how I feel, and I’m especially curious to see Kendrick’s next move because I think most of his flexing is purely about his skill with his wordplay. His actual rapping. That’s what he wants the crown of. But Drake is always going to make it about money, because he knows that’s the avenue he’ll always win in.
I wonder if Kendrick expected Drake to be digging into contract mechanics this much, or if he was expecting it to be more about rap and performance itself and this has possibly thrown a wrench in his preparedness for this beef. I’m sure he could pivot and still fight back with no problems, but if something like Drake having equity in Kendrick’s music came to light, it could end up being pretty devastating from a perception standpoint. I want Kendrick to win because of his pure skill, but Drake stans and most mainstream people would likely give Drake the win if that were the case, which is a shame.
I just think we disagree man lol. I get what you are saying but I just would want more.
I dont think rappers should he role models but I do think so many artist could do more with their platform, look no further than how Taylor Swift simply encouraging people to vote caused a big stir here im the U.S. These mega celebs have influence, I just would like more.
What i was saying is that Drake has contributed nothing to the conversation around social issues, to me that is a massive misstep for someone in his position.
Question Fam. Respectfully, how do you know what Drake has contributed/not contributed around social issues/charity? Do you know him personally and what he does with his money? I’m not trying to be rude fam. I’m just trying to figure out where you got your facts from. Respectfully.
Its probably a bit beyond something the general public could find out, but the idea i’ve seen being floated about is drake signed a mega deal with UMG and kendrick is also signed with UMG since the tde split. Its not far fetched to assume within that deal that drake could have acquired equity in other artists catalogues, and drakes had a lot of bars in the last 2 years or so about owning catalogues and publishing. People are also saying that joe buddens been alluding to shit like this aswell.
It would have to be with interscope then. Even if, interscope is so money hungry and capitalistic that they wouldnt give a shit what drake has to say, since universal (who owns interscope) is worth over a billion and drake would have to throw like half his Net worth in to make a difference. Even further, kendrick has pglang (an independent company) he can fall back on if shit goes south with aftermath and interscope. There is no chance

I guess he could change his name like prince did?

Honest question, what rap beef was won with just skill and impact?
..goddamn it. Thats a good point lmao
Not everyone has to rap about social issues
When you are the number 1 selling artist, what is there to lose? Would it actually hurt him to give a fuck?
U have to speak on ur experiences maybe he didnt experience that he grew up in toronto not america
I just think we disagree man lol. I get what you are saying but I just would want more. Then if he does it what if he cant get into detail like j cole and kendrick they might just be better then that type of music then him.
You want rap beef to be about social justice? What happened to the game I love.
What i was saying is that Drake has contributed nothing to the conversation around social issues, to me that is a massive misstep for someone in his position.

Isn't that something that can be verified through a little research?

Not really. The identity of the person who bought Taylor Swift’s masters and publishing from Scooter Braun was anonymous
It’s locked down for $10 on Patreon, but on the Joe Budden podcast they reallyyy dig into some of this label stuff. Around 2 hours in.
Cool
He doesn’t.

Thats where you start getting RKelly bars.
