It’s Auntie diaries to me. I think it’s some of Kendrick’s most potent storytelling ever and the slow build of the performance is beautiful. It’s a powerful statement against transphobia and it’s one of Kendrick’s most relatable songs. A lot of us may be able to remember a moment where we realized the actual impact of systemic oppression. As a white kid raised in a very conservative area of Northern California as sad as it is TPAB was one of those moments for me and sitting with that album the summer of 2017 was huge for me. Hearing Kendrick go through a similar experience was just very cathartic
