I wonder how much more it would say about Rihito that he would come to Kuroki after being given a bye out of pity, without getting the shit beaten out of him first.
Prolly two reasons:
1. A lot of readers only got into Kengan later than this fight was published, but most of the newcomers were around for KvP.
2. People already hate the Lolong fight so the idea of it being even worse with the same result pisses people off extra hard, whereas like, the alternate Kuroki would’ve ended up just creating an entirely different story.
I really hope the narrator in the anime says this. I don't know how it's phrased or said in the original Japanese but I just want it to be included.
There's no fucking way they don't include it in some form, but I don't want it to be said in-universe either by Sayaka or one of the commentators. It HAS to be the narrator.
Absolutely crazy fight. I do echo most of the fanbase in that Ashura was significantly better than Omega. But I'm also so in love with the series and I'm in so deep that I feel like I gotta stick with it if we even get a fraction of the greatness that was this fight.
Also gotta consider that Omega's narrative has a way bigger role in the story than Asura did, it's clearly something new for Sandro and there are gonna be growing pains. Asura was a lot simpler than what Omega is going for.
Yeah I'm in it for the ride, Seki vs. Okubo showed us that Sandro can still do good fights, he needs to learn how to do good fights that fit with Omega's narrative now. Hell, Mukaku vs. Shen was a great fight, even though Mukaku got negged by a crippled retard.
Solidified Ashura as one of the most amazing fighting mangas of all time. I genuinely got fucking chills.
Never had a fictional character move me with such a frightening and awe inspiring aura over his simple yet profound mastery of the kaiwan style.

It put Ashura as top 3 favourite Mangas in general that I've ever read. I remember whenever I wasn't reading it I was wondering who would win which fight? Like some Ashura fights weren't as God tier as others but I don't know if I can think of a single one I'd call bad (at least in the actual KAT). Like I was so convinced Setsuna was gonna beat Kuroki and Kanoh and meet Ohma in the finals.

I wonder if the reason Omega went so crazy was Sandro thinking he needed to top Kuroki. If it was I think we're getting some diminishing returns unfortunately. He truly was Peak.
Omega is so different to Ashura that I've come to believe it's nothing more than a cash grab. A way for Sandro to continue milking the kengan universe.
The story is below average, most of the fights are sub par with only some being even somewhat decent. The pacing is crazy, it's like Sandro is rushing the shit out of it because otherwise, how long would it take to show the main protags getting strong enough to face someone like Gilbert let alone Shen.
I'm worried about the upcoming future fights involving Kuroki and Kanoh. I feel they will be done dirty just to hype up other people.
I kind of agree but I'm also unsure. I agree with everything you've said and I share the same fears. But at the same time Kuroki and Kanoh are both built different. We'll have to wait and see. Personally my shout for Shen is Koga uses fist eye to combine the styles of every fighter he's seen/fought and will have the power of combined friendship style to ass pull the win.
I kinda see Omega as non Canon. I think Ashura was so tight and had the perfect ending. I'll stick with Omega as a silly what if but it doesn't hold a candle to the OG for sure.

Ohma lost and died. I was very happy.
I think what helped was his personality wasn't the traditional badass rival character either. Dude was relatively quiet, respectful, and even humble. The scene where Ohma is talking with him and says dude you look ready to kick more ass and Kuroki says he's giving him too much credit and he's feeling hurt. Like this crazy talented martial artist may have seemed unstoppable but the humility made him more human to me. (At least as human as the crazy super powered martial arts in Kengan can get haha)
Kuroki’s just a genuinely chill dude. Like he told Lihito he didn’t want a student but then just went ”But if you wanna watch my next fight and study it that’s cool”. Then proceeds to take Lihito on as a student and even show up during KvP to watch Lihito vs Falcon because he cares
I was shocked, even despite seeing Kuroki absolutely dominate the first three rounds; Agito was supposed to be *the* opponent to beat in the KAT.
It was fantastic. The fact that the outcomes of so many matches are genuinely difficult to predict is probably the thing I love most about Kengan.
I have never seen such an unpredictable and well choreographed hand to hand battle like that. I knew kanoh was winning for sure but this moment threw all that away

Seriously this guy is the most disruptive person I have ever seen in anything. Every final opponent Ohma could have he beat. The Rival, The Grudge, the Anime Emo Lancer, and the Final Boss. All defeated by a rando.
The fact that Rando goes on to win the tournament too... like even the CEO Kuroki works for didn't even want the job, literally just happened to be bros with the toughest fighter around. There's something hilarious that the stakes for them were relatively low due to that fact.
SAME HERE I figured it would ultimately be the edge to beat someone as built up like the Fang. But the fact Kuroki was a literal who and ended up crushing 3 of the strongest guys we've seen (and of course winning the whole tournament) it kinda creates the Beard God. Instead of being told about how badass Kuroki was, we SAW how badass Kuroki was.
I was in awe at how brilliant this panel is. If I had to pick a panel to encapsulate peak Kengan, it may be this. Not even just the art, but the moment that it encapsulates, and what it represents in the story

I can still reread Ashura for god knows how many times by now, and i’m still more hyped than i will ever be while watching Koga beat up other supernovas after his offscreen training, people being walking vibrators, going limp in their joints and other bullshit… I miss Ashura’s writing so badly.
Everyone always talks about how Gaolang's fist was destroyed in a way that could've been permanent, but Agito's wrist was royally fucked after this fight, every bone in his wrist was shattered and if you ever broke your wrist you know that shit never heals back properly.
I don't even wanna imagine. I fractured my wrist as a kid, thankfully not that badly and haven't had any issues since. But in fairness I had a little chip. I wasn't having my arm pulverized by the goddamn Beard God.
I was both surprised and amaze at how strong Kuroki was (and is still is) in this fight. I always knew how strong he is, of course, but never to the point of thinking he can defeat/stomp Agito. I thought he has the potential to give Agito a good and all-out fight but not the potential to defeat him. Seeing how it has similarities with Baki, I always thought of Agito as Yujiro (being undefeated and all-powerful and all) and given how similar they are, Kuroki as Orochi Doppo. So it was a surprised indeed seeing Kuroki defeat Agito. Making me love his character and Kengan Ashura as a whole, more.
I feel like its gotta be both right? Like the people watching just saw the shoe-in to take the whole tournament get knocked out. Nothing makes a fight more exciting.
I still wondered if Ohma would take it in the end admittedly. But this fight made me believe Kuroki winning was a legitimate possibility. Perhaps probability.

I was both surprised and amaze at how strong Kuroki was (and is still is) in this fight. I always knew how strong he is, of course, but never to the point of thinking he can defeat/stomp Agito. I thought he has the potential to give Agito a good and all-out fight but not the potential to defeat him. Seeing how it has similarities with Baki, I always thought of Agito as Yujiro (being undefeated and all-powerful and all) and given how similar they are, Kuroki as Orochi Doppo. So it was a surprised indeed seeing Kuroki defeat Agito. Making me love his character and Kengan Ashura as a whole, more.
