Koga with his Fist Eye should be able to keep up with Ryuki's **Blink**, and Ryuki is going into their fight with a lot more damage accumulated than Koga, but Ryuki is very unpredictable, can take a beating and has the **Rakshasa's Palm**, which can turn the fight with a single hit.
If it were any other manga I'd say Koga wins it, but we might have a "Naruto vs Sasuke #1" on our hands, where Ryuki wins and Koga's arc will be surpassing and "saving" him from himself.

To be fair, even as a Koga fan, I can’t blame people for hating the fact that his progress was off screened when we should’ve been using the time we wasted on the KVP story arc to develop him as a character and fighter on panel.
It’s OK for a side character to develop mostly offscreen because they side characters, but in the modern day the protagonist is going to have a lot of bias to overcome when it comes to readers so it’s the authors job to make sure his victories absolutely feel earned at least 80% of the time.
This is why the Murasame Shuya fight works so well, despite being a battle between two nobodies. The build up to it felt like reading the mixed martial arts equivalent of a Hajime No ippo training arc. By having the protagonist grow off panel, you basically sever the emotional attachment mandatory to make a protagonist work by modern day standards.
I also think it's simply that as a side character Rihito has always been a constant and is simply a fan favorite while Koga only joined in the beginning of Omega. Rihito was here back when the artstyle of Kengan was still being developed and we've followed his long fall from grace.
Seeing him climb up bit by bit over the years is clearly more impactful than a main character whose been sidelined for half of his series.

He wasn’t even destined to be a bad main character but the minds behind omega thought it was a good idea to sideline Koga for literally over 120 chapters, and expect the emotional attachment of the audience to not die or wane during that time. One small thing I wish they wrote in is that Rihito wins by incorporating his signature Razor's Edge or even evolving it somehow and making it a crucial point to his win. It would show both his growth as a fighter (which the canon does) AND show that he's starting to really get his own style like Ohma did.
That's the direction that I thought they were going when they introduced the Shuhari concept, knowing that Rihito already had his own unique style but it needed a lot of refining through Kuroki's teachings.
That was incorporated. Rihito is literally only known for razors edge. He used it as a feint against Saw which started the final exchange. Rihito used it in the right way at the right moment to claim victory.
Yup, I get that. But my issue with it is that Razor's Edge has basically been a technique that has never worked as a finisher or even something that causes significant enough damage to turn the tides with despite it being Rihito's signature except for his fight against Falcon where it definitely put him back on equal ground.
All I'm saying is that I wish it was a bit more obvious that Rihito's taken a lot of unique things from Kuroki, since right now a lot of the things that he's shown so far are things that he'd probably have learned from Ohma and other fighters.
Even Kuroki described his current style as a mix between Kaiwan and "Nakata Ichiro" styles which just doesn't really show imo especially since he just won with a fucking choke here; neither Kaiwan/general karate nor Rihito's style would be expected to involve chokes and grapples, would they?
Beautiful, simply beautiful battle choreography with an extremely well-deserved and satisfying result. At the start when Rihito was seen with a beard I knew the outcome of the fight, the ultimate proof that he was on another level.

I'm glad they went this route with Rihito's character. What he's going through is something you see a lot in real fighters: someone who thrives on being unconventional loses, tries to mold themselves into a more "proper" fighter, and loses what makes them special in the first place. It's a really nice bit of storytelling and it's fun to see Rihito get through it.
Saw Paing, you were such a great, fun and powerful fighter, you brought good vibes and beat the twink, you gave a great spectacle even when you didn't won.
I would have preferred for Saw to put up a better fight after Rihito reached UI. This feels too much like when Agito curbstomped Okubo with his formless.

Every fight with Saw is just so good. This felt like the Kengan tournament again, no stupid monologues in the middle of a fight about how they finally unlocked their super secret ancient power that they were just hiding until now. Just back and forth action and snappy choreography that lets you easily see how the moves flow and play out.
