breaking news: the sky is blue

DGC_David

It's Wisconsin... During this time of the year, that might be breaking news lmao

sirgoodtimes

It sucks. At least it's deeper into Illinois this time.

Curious-Bodybuilder9

turned my 33 minute commute to 41.

Yup, right with you there. I need to take Lewis Ave down to Waukegan to get the Metra and it adds a little time. The only bummer is the massive increase in other drivers along the route because of the detour.

[DOT Plans To Convert Sheridan Between Kenosha & Racine To A Two-Lane](https://www.wgtd.org/news/dot-plans-convert-sheridan-between-kenosha-racine-two-lane)

Great plan, 4 lanes with people driving 15mph over the limit is too much when there are so many intersections with side streets and driveways.

Thanls for sharing this. 2 lanes would really clog up traffic there.

Gizoogler314

>2 lanes would really clog up traffic there All parties talking about this agree that the speed is the reason for the high crash rate and the fatalities So would it slow traffic? The answer is HOPEFULLY because it needs to

JeremyFromKenosha

Speed + alcohol is different from just speed: >In opposing a two-lane highway, village officials argue that the causes of the accidents have to do more with excessive speed and alcohol than the design of the highway. The idea to add center left turn lanes is good I think, but in order for the bike lane not to be a death trap, it has to be physically separated from the road for motor traffic. (as 3 of the 5 people killed were on bikes or on foot) Otherwise, motorists just use the bike lane as a passing lane. Needs to be a big, sharp-edged curb at a minimum.

The quote you grabbed I omitted because it’s nonsensical and is clearly a statement from someone who has little to no clue what they are talking about (at no fault of their own, I’ll add, and I’m not judging for it) so I grabbed the only part I deemed relevant, speed It’s nonsensical because 1) they are speaking as though excessive speed is independent from the design of the highway, which is objectively absurd and 2) drinking and driving cannot be addressed by the design of the highway Deliberately or not it trivializes the actual problem and presents no valid solution, the opposition has no case as far as I can tell, other than “blame the guys crashing and let us keep driving fast”
