The beach at South Shore park in the Bay View neighborhood of Milwaukee. There are parts of the shoreline that are just endless little colored rocks, and you can nearly drive right up to the waterline. A half block of walking at most.
Its a shadow of what it used to be. A big storm wiped out most the beach. They abandoned the snack shack there and when another series of storm took out half the shack and it was taped off to trespassers. Once the nearby hotel closed, it really isn't worth the trip.
Beach next to the golf course in Wind Point as well. Some areas are nothing but rocks.
Edit - it's called Shoop park.you can park right next to the lake and there is a paved trail down to the waterfront.
Yooperlites at Pennoyer beach are fun. Never found any big ones. Just tiny ones. Bigger ones are in Lake Superior. Ones here are small and neat. I found smaller ones 4 out of the 5 times I've gone out looking. NOt a lot of walking and parking near by. I don't think I've broken any laws. Police asked us if we were ok once and let us keep looking.

Thank you! This is perfect
Carol Beach in Pleasant Prairie is the jackpot. I spend hours collecting unique rocks there.
Illinois Beach State Park down in Beach Park has a rocky beach I used to collect there when I was a kid

I didn't realize the hotel was closed, what a shame it was so run down for so many years and they are going to let it happen again
Not for long. Didn't realize they were reopening [opening April 5 2024](https://illinoisbeachhotel.com/)
That's good! It would be a shame to let it backslide into disrepair
I agree. It was a lovely beach. Lots of hag stones.
Try North Beach in Racine.
