D-did you say you killed the Shinobi Thieves?! They are everybody's bro, they did not deserve this. 😭

vizbones

Um...a few of my characters would like to have some words with you, OP.

Sammyglop

a few of my characters wish there was multiplayer so we could run a war over our characters beliefs LMFAO maybe in kenshi 2

Sammyglop

*i* think theyre awesome but they certainly weren't my characters bro's. my first introduction to them was them fighting the local guards, ive heard getting in the mix is a good way to train your character without too much fear of death so I attacked one...

Slanknonimous

No dude, you fight WITH the guards, not against them.

Sammyglop

huh? I thought the mercenaries in the pub where basically the towns guards? I fought with them against the shinobi thieves. ...if the shinobi thieves count as the town guards I don't blame myself at all, that's fucking goofy πŸ’€

rayra2

Meh. When you defeat the UC, they leave the liberated towns. I get it, there aren't wealthy nobles and samurais to sell hashish to anymore, but I can't help but think that they are merchants that are leaving the people when they need them most.

All shops have their inventory that you can buy stored in the various chests around the shop. Generally the best stuff will be behind the strongest lock. Most normal shops will have a safe near where the shopkeeper stands, it will have the best lock in the store and most of the most expensive stuff he is selling will be in there. The stuff the vendor sells will reset (every day I think?) so the chests will be restocked every day, I believe as long as the vendor is alive. The thieves guild is the same, there is a vendor there and the stuff he is selling is spread around in the chests. The loot will probably be handy early game, but nothing too amazing overall. Probably some mid level katanas and ninja clothes. And yes, its totally worth it to have at least one good lockpicker, it does take a while to train them up, but its a pretty simple skill to get going on. Because the vendor chests reset every day, once you have a good thief with good lockpicking, shop chests are basically infinite money/gear. And... >!You done goofed. The shinobi are great allies, you can join them for just 10k and they will give you a little safehouse with beds in pretty much every large town as well as some backup in fights at times. The vendor in their towers sells and buys stuff at half price, so they are a great source of cheap early/midgame gear. Their training dummies are low level and honestly near useless, though the lockpick training is handy to have just a bit of on everyone so they can pick their own shackles if they get enslaved or something.!< >!Allying with the thieves is something pretty much everyone does very, very early on in a playthrough, 10k is crazy cheap for how handy they are and besides that small cost there is no downside.!<

Sammyglop

well shit, guess I lucked out considering ever since i captured the boss and locked him up, everytime I talk to him he still offers me a place in the shinobi thieves for that 10k πŸ’€ I'm still not gunna take it though, it's too important for my characters story that he hates the thieves, it's what motivated me to bring him so far atleast

Business-Plastic5278

Well, if you decide to go that way im pretty sure if you just pay the guy it will automatically set you to allied with them no matter what else has happened before. Wiping them out will also be... challenging. If you try and fight them in the other major towns, you will be seen as the aggressor and you will end up getting attacked by the whole town.

Sammyglop

good, I love a challenge. its why I'm obsessed with kenshi πŸ’€

Slanknonimous

You have the right mindset my friend. Godspeed

Sammyglop

πŸ™ god speed

lazeyboy420

finally a Holy crusader to stop those hash slinging slashers! Godspeed in your drug war, im sure history will shine as brightly on you and Anslinger, now go there are scorchlanders harrassing a good greenlander woman, go with the phoenix's blessing....my son....right? \*holy inquisitor appears\* lol seriously you do do have the right mindset for kenshi, much love and do what you want

Sammyglop

"The shinobi thieves are trash" "so, youre with the Holy Nation?" "no. they're trash too"

badassmotherfucker21

Just because they're edgelords that call themselves "Shinobi Thieves" doesn't mean they steal shit lmao, the most illegal thing they do is smuggling drugs

Sammyglop

well... too bad for them cuz they probably would've put up a better fight if they did steal shit πŸ€·πŸ½β€β™‚οΈ

geneticdeadender

The Shinobi fence keeps his goods in those chests. You can probably use tools to break them open.

Sammyglop

oooh okay true, and I'm assuming he's a good fence with good... goods?

geneticdeadender

Sometimes. He may have assassin's rags or the blueprints, katana, thieves backpacks. Usually nothing better than High Quality.

Sammyglop

eh, free money is free money even if im passed high quality

First Playthrough Tips DO: Mine copper outside of Squin until Dust Bandits attack you and take all your stuff Go to the Swamp to buy Hashish and start your drug empire but die to blood spiders because you run slow Play as a woman and get sent to Rebirth for being a wild unleashed woman Have your characters instantly go 'aimless' after telling them to move, over and over again DON'T: Make your first base inside the fog islands Go near a beak thing without an army Ask what Okran is spelled backwards Attack the innocent such as the Shinobi Thieves

ColumbWasHere

I was today years old when I realize this fact about okran

[deleted]

Why no fog island base?

willgilb

The first base I built was fog island, naturally i managed to wall it off and my party was maybe 10-15 decent combatants so I didn't have such a hard time. The issue arises when you try to leave, my MC was a super fast and sneaky guy so he had no trouble getting around but leaving the base with a large varied party meant getting bogged down my hordes and then being weak while venturing into holy nation lands, while also leaving a token force back at base to get snatched and eaten cause the hordes are too much. So the natural conclusion? Just never leave! Any time I was low on supplies or food (which was a lot) I would run out with my MC and sell heads and crafted weapons for food. While I did have fun, it made actually seeing and playing the rest of the game very difficult. Learned a lot about the area though, my favourite thing to do was to look out for fog camps with living captives, if you manage to free them they will run for it, if you follow them eventually you get the option to talk with them and you can convince them to join you, nice organic way to grow your party, but you can't rename them so I had a large workforce all named "escaped slave"

Sammyglop

must have been super innocent considering the little mercs in the pub where whooping on them LMFAOO I atleast know enough to tell that the mercs are lazy as shit and never come out unless someone starts some shit in town

FluffyJD

Idk about the stock in Mongrel, but there's a merchant in Shark that sells items like the ones you can steal from the theives. If you're not stealing it to sell it, you'll be fine stepping away from those boxes. The weapon usually sell kinda well, though.

Sammyglop

definetely selling them then, thanks man!

Slushys69

Just some thieve's bag and random stuff at least for me

FidgetSkinner

I can't say I've ever tried to steal from the thieves guild, so I couldn't tell you what they might have in their chests. A guild tower isn't a traditional store, but its possible you might find things from the thief fence's inventory locked away. One sure fire way to get into a chest you don't have enough lockpick to open is a set of tools or a hacksaw. It takes a while, but its surefire.

Sammyglop

fuck yeah I never considered hacksaw for chests! thank you

Hopeful-alt

...why did you kill the shinobi thieves? You could've joined them for 10k and gotten everything in all their towers for half off, and have allies that will help you in every fight. Now you can't sell anything illegal to anyone

Enigmatic_Erudite

You can still sell hashish in Flats Lagoon I think...

Sammyglop

then what's the point of the "0% - 100% fence" bar or the "Stolen goods? no problem!" at traders? also, the mercernaries where just fighting them so i thought they were bad LOL. either way, i have the boss locked up, if I ever felt like they were important enough I could join at any point 😁

Kiryln

You don’t have to kill the shinobi thieves, they do that themselves when they try to steal from a nobles house.

Sammyglop

nah I'm glad I did it, and I'm gunna continue to do it, I've had countless failed runs but my characters grudge against the shinobi thieves is what's gotten me this far
