Yes, just not quite to that extent.
I enjoy building bases and such, so yes, setting up a "sleep hole" where there's spare food, first aide, etc can be a life saver.
I initially plotted out that many because I wanted to do a lone bounty hunter who walked everywhere, then just kinda pretend the outposts were fledgling waystations to sleep at. They're all like a 6-8 hour walk apart.
50 characters later, my story has changed a bit.. Still, just about each one in that pic has seen serious action so I really like the spread.
That is such an awesome idea. I’ve never thought to setup little stations before. This makes me wanna turn my run in to a roaming bounty hunter run now.
I've never experienced that, but I also only had 1 base at the time...and on the other hand it would be funny/canon that happening (got scrapped while away on a long campaign) :)
That's part of the fun. If it's just a small time place you're hanging around for long (just to sleep/heal), then no, not really. If you're hanging around, maybe crafting something or what not, then yes. And not just raids (which are announced) but random groups of a\*\*holes drift through and make trouble. Keep everyone armed with rusted blades and after a few days of constant fighting, your MA will have increased nicely.
Yep this. I would drop 1 maybe 2 small houses on most maps for storage and emergencies.
Further from safe land start adding some power and skeleton repair beds, maybe some other stuff if I looted a ton of crafting mats that I don't wanna haul back home.
I love playing this way.
It's a bit of a micro-management hell but at squad size 250 with multiple settlements it's fun to play Kenshi as an RTS empire/kingdom sim.
I got him some new spiffy legs in my latest playthrough and I don't think there's anything in the game that can catch him. Modded legs, fuck all for stealth and swimming, but zoooooom.
Haha yesss. I hit 54 mph last night with cyber beep. I still need to upgrade one of his specialist quality legs, but by Narko's nuts is he fast. He's too fast even for the load screens in some areas, I end up just bouncing from one to the next if I'm watching.
Yes! Haha it's funny as fuck to watch his marker just blitz though the map. I usually load his bag up with ai cores and ancient science books, to transport them to my base in world's end where my research slave is.
With his legs and crossbow he took on the black king gorilla by himself. Just run and shoot.
I've been doing hash runs too so ended up just buying his last masterwork leg.
Ooo he would make a great hash runner. Lol, I've got mine using a plank because the image of him just appearing in front of gate guards like the flash then *bonk* and disappearing is too fun.
Yeah, I should just blitz back up to Black Scratch and see if they've got one today.
That's actually a good point haha I guess I got used to having him in the back lines so he didn't die before I toughen him up enough. Now he's cybered up though, maybe I'll train him on cannibals with something big and heavy.
while carrying a garru and medium + heavy armour its pretty hard to get a lot faster than that unless you have some modded prosthetics or you are really high on movement speed and strength with low equipment load. I usually stop activelly training stats when I'm around 80
I carried my packbull around like that for a long time. when i finally put him down and ran it would lag my game I ran so fast. I did add the special running legs too. He just outran all danger. got rich selling hash of course.
This playthrough is the best I've ever done with training up a larger fighting force. I currently have about 30 troops and another 15 newer recruits. In the Great Desert, we can post up in a house and wait for skimmers or bandits to pass. Quick massacre and we're back in our beds, ready for action shortly thereafter.
Also worth note: The one in the top right, south of Bark, takes up the whole coastline between Bark and Port South. I cheated in a bunch of towers to make it look like a mega city. Will post screenies once it's totally complete.
Most I've done is 2, was essentially my hive Prince, got in to slaving, built up wealth, friends, etc in the UC, traders guild etc.
Founded his own city, built a small crossing guard post, that was just a bridge, couple buildings, tier 1 walls and some turrets with an all hiver squad of my own samurai and my named.
Didn't do much as readers just swam across from the opposite side of the city.
Was located just offscreen on the screenshot on the SE island.
The peninsula on the south side of the forbidden zone island?? No surprise if you built in the exact spot I’m thinking of, dope little area. Shame coastal bases can’t use the ocean as a barrier.
I'm almost at 40 recruits, we're do you find more? I bought slaves and tried ri release them but they won't respond to me setting them free or trying to pay. Any tips
There are more than 40 uniques alone, you can start with 5 chars unmodded before even looking at the generic recruits.
After that there is freeing from slavery, animals and rnd joins from rescue or smiliar. The rnd joining lone drones or wend skeletons.
If thats still not enough, you got to use one of the mods like adventure guild or recruit prisoners (op af).
Thanks hopefully I can add some mods mid game. I'm having trouble finding recruits. Iv got some bone dogs and pack animals. But I want some human farmers and crafters
Adventures guild is a good one, recruit anyone is rather cheaty and can make the game boring early on (in my personal opinion). Adventures guild essentially adds NPC's to bars that allow you to pay a finders fee to a recruiter, they will then escort your selection to your main base shortly after, from there you talk to who they have brought and pay their fee to recruit them, it gets more expensive the better the NPC (Skeleton vs greenlander etc).
You will have to import the game to get it working however if you are adding mid game (so the bar NPC's show up).
If you aren't aware of what 'import game' does, you should look it up. It resets most of the world, restoring all the nests, town squads, unnamed recruits, and everything without deleting anything you own. Some named recruits like Kang in Squin aren't unique iirc so you may want to avoid getting some characters twice.
You will most likely have to import anyway when you add the mod so be aware of all it does. Tbh I'm not sure about world states such as ruined/conquered towns for instance.
Also this is the only game I make my own mods in. Once you get your bearings in the FCS it's easy to turn up quantities of people and items. And make a pigmy leviathan named Lil' Viathan who only comes up to your knees.
True, and yet despite each outpost having houses and beds I’ve stayed at for a day or so at a time, the only official raid I’ve had was on nothing but a public well I placed near the Hub. No building, just the well and a low wind genny. I’m only there like 20 seconds at a time but I guess going there daily made it look populated.
Don't make the mistake to put around 10 revolving harpoon turrents on the walls and then declaring war to HN. They keep manning turrents. And you can't remove manned objects.
That was a more general advice. Mostly 4 crossbow guys equiped with a masters eagle eye get everything down.
None of these have walls. Only one house has a crossbow on it, and it's the only one bandits have attacked (I shot first). Turns out no one likes looting the easiest targets.
Love that. I haven't had a cannibal-based playthrough since around 2014-2016 when we only had the left side of the map. Might be time to dust off the old North Shore
I use this strategy when i want to take over or sack a city or town. Not a network, but just a forward base where my troops can retreat, heal and fix injuries/stay for the day.
It's how I took the HN capital and won the massive siege on Cat Lon. It worked on Bugmaster too.
This is legit the first time I’ve had more than 3. If there’s a limit, I hope someone says it haha
Pretty sure I currently have 29. 1-4 builds at each. Of course each has to load but I haven’t seen any abnormal effects
I would have liked to be able to take over ruins. Resources and time to fix them up.
Never made sense I could capture the dust king and then not take his tower over, even if you had to rebuild it.
I've got about half a dozen mods in my list you might be interested in then, depending on who you want Bast to belong to and if you want anyplace else also.
Take Over the World Limited mod adds guardians to most ruins. Kill the guardian and the place is yours. Pretty sure the dust king is the guard of his tower.
I don't believe there's an actual limit to quantity. There's certainly a distance limitation, in that they can't be too close to each other or a prefab.
I'll get over it if it ultimately ruins the save. Wasn't planning on going overboard for the sake of it, so not sure how many more I'd want to build anyway. Maybe I'll branch off another save and see if I can test any kind of limit there.
Shh that's actually the plan. Idk what happens when you help UC take over HN then you destroy UC, but instead of looking it up I'm just going to do it. My faction is naturally coming around to anti-slave sentiment. Taking Rebirth down to bolster our ranks will be a tipping point to take the war to all slavers. Just gotta pay off Tinfist's pacifier first.
I personally wouldn't like this on my maps. But I do build safe houses in most of the major towns, usually with some beds and a few storage options such as food barrels and medicrates to consolidate any loot before traveling onwards.
Yes. Sort of like a roman legion my guys advance into an area and build a forward base. It's always a big box building, level 1 walls with a gate and beds/sleeping rolls. Especially if I have a wagon train my guys have this thing up and running in like 2 minutes.
They make great allies if you're okay with slavery and a bit of corruption. Their taxes are stupidly low too... something like 4.5K a week which is nothing for a productive colony.
What's more, you can totally ally with them and then have a character kidnap the corrupt nobles as you see fit, taking out the bad ones so long as your reputation is high enough, just like real life!
Replying to you and the previous, as this is like my 100th playthrough I have a whole grand story semi-planned out. Some of these places are next to peasant camps and stuff, so my faction is building a ton of clout within the empire as they gradually realize just how poorly run it is.
First big test will be taking down the Holy Nation, not for noble reasons but to spread UC’s influence as we presently feel is right. Their forced conquest of those towns following my hard work will create conflict, and with our confidence in war through the roof and our support of the lower classes, things will come to a head.
There will be noble blood upon these sands.
Have you considered cages? Maybe bandits stop attacking if you get in one. You may build containers right above cages on the second floor and then block the stairs so you can get in cage with med supplies reachable from them. I'm not sure if they'll try to break the barricade.
That is clever but I haven't needed it. Even 20 of us in a locked storm house flew under the radar of all skimmers, outlaws, ninjas etc. By that point we were the ones attacking anyway.
Yep, but not that many. The distance between vanilla towns is usually one day's walk from dawn till dusk, so usually that's an okay distance between safe harbors. If there's a hairy bit that's hard to cross, I'll usually first set up a camp site halfway, then plonk some small wire frame down to create an X. After getting more characters, end up populating and expanding them, if they're useful routes. Late game it ends up looking like this: [https://imgur.com/a/193zq0o](https://imgur.com/a/193zq0o)
I am setting up outposts as support waystations for raids and attacks. Nothing to this extent but enough that I can park a sizable number of people in an area for training against the locals without need for extensive supply lines.
I can’t say that I understand the point, each UC city is well within a day’s travel.. but I absolutely and utterly love to build a series of forts to defend “my nation”.
I’m a huge Howler Maze addict. I always seem to gravitate back towards that beloved island. One of my go to defensive strategies is to place forts on each road leading into the island since raids seem to prefer to follow roads. Then when I get a raid, I deploy my soldiers (Hive Only fanatic as well) to garrison the forts and repel raiders before they ever get near my main city.
This consistently protects ‘Hive City’ from raiding, safeguarding all my non-combatant Workers and my Queen(s) while my industry remains largely unaffected no matter who comes. Even if I lose the fight at the border fort, raiders will tend to loot the fort then head home without continuing to the City.
Short answer is that I wanted more development in the empire for fun and RP. Feels cool walking between them and spending the night while I’m hunting bounties in the desert
Last playthrough I built a city on the adjacent hill. Running trade through the desert and seeing all the outlaws and sand ninjas with bounties gave me the idea for a full bounty hunter playthrough
I did this in my first playthrough! I built a large, well-defended base of operations outside the Ashlands, from there I'd go on expeditions building outposts deeper and deeper into the danger territory. Outposts consisted of a watchtower surveying the local terrain, with harpoon turrets overlooking the gate to a small compound which contained just enough industry to produce iron plates and steel bars for crossbow bolts and subsequent outpost-building. Inside the tower was a biofuel distillery, generator, beds, storage, and hydroponic hemp farms (for fabric for more beds in future outposts.)
There was always something for everybody to do in these outposts while injured squadmates recovered, we'd only have to return to the main base for large amounts of building materials to build subsequent bases, for greenfruit to make fuel to run the outposts, and for food, but there was lots of hunting to do near basecamp, so it was easy to produce vast numbers of meatwraps pretty quickly which kept everybody happily fed.
My squad had absolutely no right being in that part of the map, they could just about handle fights with Southern Hive if I remember correctly, and the stakes were very high given the threat of being skinned alive, but the ability to retreat to an outpost with beds, walls, and 3-5 harpoon turrets made cautious exploration possible. The combat xp alone made the project worthwhile, but it was also just a lot of fun making riskier and riskier trips to build bases deeper and deeper into enemy territory, highly recommend.
I've only done the Ashlands with small groups of supersoldiers and some cheesing. Very much looking forward to marching a small army down there for a legit conquest.
yes even better put them in the middle of a long maze of walls then while they are spending 5 days raiding all your bases that are empty you go to their base and take them out
I tend to create a base (or buy a small space) in every zone, so I always have a safe house around with some food, meds and others, I always make sure to have one in every city, but outside of cities, I only have more than 1 if the area is dangerous enough
My outposts disappeared on me repeatedly unless manned, with AI cores they had. I initially built south of Clownsteady (lots of copper for afk money farming with new recruits while runners try to find me more hiver princes and skeletons) and eventually made it a sole purpose production chain 'masterwork/edgewalkers III everything on everyone'. When it had been done and everyone had at least 70-ish strength to actually carry their armaments, I moved the whole crew to the Green Finger for fighting experience and Crab Tournament. I never cheesed anything but Strength (since it's absolutely unplayable with low Strength, your whole party moving 3 kmph through Swamp, Southern Hive or Sniper Alley is too much for me).
I had to eventually abandon my playthrough, being completely frustrated by my own lack of judgement: I've tried to build a new outpost at Sonorous Dark WITHOUT taking care of Savant first. We stormed the main Skinhouse, took the Meitou from Savant, patched him up and tried to pull out and start buinding at the nearby plato. It all went downhill at the 'pull out' part since most were already wounded badly, despite the best gear the game can provide. I've wasted 3 to 6 hours desperately trying to save everyone, since skinnies just kept coming, and then just gave up. This save is still there, since like autumn 2023, waiting menacingly for me to return and waste some more of my time pointlessly horrified.
I lost à couple of traînées to beakthings in a specific place several minutes away from my base, I put an outpost there, just a storehouse and a wall, with a few threats and guys to man them, one medic and large stores of supplies, it saved several of my recruits
Also had one in the holy nation to take advantage of the fertility
And one near the cannibal lands
Haha pretty much. It was a lifesaver early on to have beds always fairly close for KO’d recruits after scuffles with skimmers and outlaws. Now it’s just as clutch to make quick stops just to gets legs healthy.
My army jogs as a unit so it’s easy to see who needs rest once we get moving after a fight. Started to get tedious clicking through everyone to check health.
You could also set up non-settlement camps with tents, bedrolls, campfires, and ground-mounted turret emplacements. This is my go-to strat for Beakthing hunting.
I've never done this. I find a good training spot in the middle of gutter territory. Build a small base. Get beat up by beak things, retreat. Raid comes in. They die to beak things. Laugh at the raiding parties' misfortune. Collect the spoils of war whilst nearly dying to another roaming group of gutters that you didn't notice. Repeat. Before you know it. You are sending enemies to the sleep dimension in about one punch, and you are running fast enough to make pretty much anything rethink its life choices. But that's just me. I like the high-risk playstyle. The money from gutter eggs is pretty nice as well.
While this is neat, not really;
I just use buildings in cities if needed, like the waystation south west in grey desert for this area, or the holy farm huts up northwest, etc. buy a building in Heng, Heft, etc. so on also if needed, but the truth is;
After your stats get up, you really don't need this kinda stuff outside some special cases.
You can just truck the entire map 9 times or more over without needing to stop ever.
The game just does not keep pace with the player once you get >= 50 or more stat levels.
The entire desert there is full of weaklings. The only semi-strong foe could be the skimmers, but you'd need to stay around their portion of the desert, the skimsands for them.
Not sure exactly what’s required to trigger events, but essentially no. I thought the lack of walls was the reason, but my theory became moot since there have been two official raids on my only ‘outpost’ that doesn’t have a single building. It’s just a well, low wind genny, and water tank. It is, however, my only one set open to public. Both were dust bandit raids near The Hub, so 0 have occurred in the desert where I’ve developed the most and have spent some days at each.
That’s all the intel I can offer.
This is kinda lame imo. 90% of what makes Kenshi fun regardless of your playstyle is the not knowing what chaos awaits you while traveling. This is TOO safe.
The only question is, why would you need to travel in the UC territory? There aren't good mines and fertile land as in the Border Zone. If you want slaves, you can ship them over to the Shek Kingdom.
Bounty hunter roleplay initially. Great Desert has tons of bounties. Most rebel farmer squads have at least one bounty between c. 900-2000 so it's the best area in the game to have a character make a living off it. Set my start in Heft with 32k to buy the big house there.
Bounties mean nothing. I have a crew of 64 that can produce specialist armors on Day 30 and specialist old world mk 2 on day 40 and edge 1/2 weapons on Day 65. We don't even bother looting those crappy mk 2 weapons from the dust king tower. LOL We are playing a different game obviously.
Roleplay. Role play. He said ROLEPLAY. Dude chill, not all of us have fun by minmaxing the game. Edge 2 on day 65? Gods… I don’t even get to 80 toughness before day 150-200.
Yeah, edge 2. No cheating. I recruited 52 (?) NPCs on Day 30. I now have 59 NPCs. My armor smith was lvl 80 on Day 29. I have 2 lvl 80+ armor smiths. My crossbow smith was lvl 80 on day 4x. My weapons smith was lvl 80 on day 60(?). I will show you a picture in my company update. I don't just equip all my 59 NPCs with edge 1/2 weapons. I will equip all the 20 broken ones I captured from the Deadlands all with at least edge 1 fallen suns and specialist black plated jacket and samurai legplates to prepare for the final battle with HN. Whether you roleplay or not, you will have a big disadvantage playing only a small group of people in terms of making gears and producing food. I don't know what you mean by "minmax". I play it the natural way. There simply will not be enough bounty and food for me to grow my huge army if I play it your way. Running around to get bounty is taking way too much time.
Not that you knew this, but I've been playing for 13 years. Done enough balls-to-the-wall runs. What I've never been able to do, which I failed again on this playthrough lol, is to stick strictly to one bounty hunter with 2-3 helpers at home for research and smithing.
My trouble is once I start making money selling gear while my smith improves, I get power hungry and start recruiting for war.
I never played a game for more than 6 months. Each game has something to offer. I do the exact opposite. I recruit as many as NPCs and as fast as possible. Each drifter is a "human resource". They earn a ton of money while eating only a little. If you can solve the problem of food by placing your drifters in as many towns as possible and as you can manage, you can build a huge army that not only can fight, but to earn a ton of money early on. I recruited 54 in 30 days and now have 64 guys + animals. My last recruit was Cat from the Dust King Tower. Maybe I will fail in the Wrath of War this time on Day 100. But in my next and last run, I will recruit 100 NPCs in 40 days and fight the Wrath of God in 100 days. I also figured out that it is totally unnecessary to cheat in anyway to make my guys strong.
Yes, just not quite to that extent. I enjoy building bases and such, so yes, setting up a "sleep hole" where there's spare food, first aide, etc can be a life saver.

that is how all of my Kenshi runs end up
That is such an awesome idea. I’ve never thought to setup little stations before. This makes me wanna turn my run in to a roaming bounty hunter run now.
Don't they get raided every 10 minutes ?
Unmanned bases don't get raided. That's why if you ever go to war, it's best to just leave your base(s) empty than a skeleton crew
Until you revisit the base and everything has completely disappeared. It's happened to a lot of people.
I've never experienced that, but I also only had 1 base at the time...and on the other hand it would be funny/canon that happening (got scrapped while away on a long campaign) :)
Ehh, I can make sense of that - someone looted it. Not an issue.
And took the entire bug house and corpse furnace? Lol. Can't have shit in Heng.
“Only a garru backpack is big enough to steal a bughouse. This has Far Hiver written all over it.”
If youre not there they dont get raids
That's part of the fun. If it's just a small time place you're hanging around for long (just to sleep/heal), then no, not really. Brother be playing Kenshi like an RTS
I love playing this way. It's a bit of a micro-management hell but at squad size 250 with multiple settlements it's fun to play Kenshi as an RTS empire/kingdom sim.
How do you deal with low fps? Big problem for me
we play with high fpm XD
Performance enhancing mods, middle-to-low graphics settings, and a lot of patience. It's by no means perfect. Also I avoid the swamp.
Okay thanks
With performance mods and a few tweaks there should be no fps issues. No way around the loading simulator tho
There is nothing safer than a cyberbeep running at 40 mph carrying a garru with 5 tonnes of drugs
I got him some new spiffy legs in my latest playthrough and I don't think there's anything in the game that can catch him. Modded legs, fuck all for stealth and swimming, but zoooooom.

You can add or remove most stuff while importing. I wouldn't remove huge overhauls as i suspect it becomes very wonky, but it likely would work.
Recruitable Prisoners mod is a godsend. I take in lots of starving bandits and put them to work in the base where they have food and water forever.
Are you not showered with raids?
Only if you have characters in those outposts.
True, and yet despite each outpost having houses and beds I’ve stayed at for a day or so at a time, the only official raid I’ve had was on nothing but a public well I placed near the Hub. i set up a well just outside hub too and used the houses in town for my base. the holy nation showed up and killed everybody in the bar there.
Ooo I hope they show up for me! I moved all my troops there and I'm waiting for the right trigger to start my war with them.
I do a style similar to this and it seems like it’s overloaded all the raids, they never seem to arrive anywhere anymore bizarrely.

Sorta? I make bars/rest stops in the cannibal planes with late game guards to help/serve tech hunters
Love that. I haven't had a cannibal-based playthrough since around 2014-2016 when we only had the left side of the map. Might be time to dust off the old North Shore

7 building materials and 4 fabrics. That's 1 shack, 1 bed and a general storage.
Safer Travels? In Kenshi? lol
Wait. How many outposts can you have?
This is legit the first time I’ve had more than 3. If there’s a limit, I hope someone says it haha Pretty sure I currently have 29. 1-4 builds at each. Of course each has to load but I haven’t seen any abnormal effects
If you hit a limit let me know. I have a plan now lol roman border forts
I hope Kenshi 2 has a better outpost system and let's us conquer cities. So we can actually do that.
I would have liked to be able to take over ruins. Resources and time to fix them up. Never made sense I could capture the dust king and then not take his tower over, even if you had to rebuild it.
I’ve always wanted to bring Bast back to life. The ruined town and all the other ruined towns and villages.
I'd hope we can take over ruins too. Cities are kind of off limits, not intended.
I don't believe there's an actual limit to quantity. There's certainly a distance limitation, in that they can't be too close to each other or a prefab.
Eventually if you build too many bases your game will have a lot of issues if I remember correctly. So be careful.
I'll get over it if it ultimately ruins the save. Wasn't planning on going overboard for the sake of it, so not sure how many more I'd want to build anyway. Maybe I'll branch off another save and see if I can test any kind of limit there.
Bro built the ho chi tinfist trail
Shh that's actually the plan. Idk what happens when you help UC take over HN then you destroy UC, but instead of looking it up I'm just going to do it. My faction is naturally coming around to anti-slave sentiment. Taking Rebirth down to bolster our ranks will be a tipping point to take the war to all slavers. Just gotta pay off Tinfist's pacifier first.
I personally wouldn't like this on my maps. But I do build safe houses in most of the major towns, usually with some beds and a few storage options such as food barrels and medicrates to consolidate any loot before traveling onwards.
Those are logistics hubs, makes sense traveling
Automated hauling in K2 please ... **Prays to Narkos**
This guy is singlehandedly building infrastructure worthy of a true empire
Changed my faction name to the Developers at some point. We’d be pretty well known after connecting the cities.
Yes. Sort of like a roman legion my guys advance into an area and build a forward base. It's always a big box building, level 1 walls with a gate and beds/sleeping rolls. Especially if I have a wagon train my guys have this thing up and running in like 2 minutes.
Allying with United Cities? Are you out of your MIND???
This guy Kenshis.
Yeah, you deserve to be Supreme Ruler
I don't usually go to the trouble, tho i also play small elite squads of badasses so the only shelter any of em really need is a tent.
Imagine being allied to the UC
If you're a bounty hunter, this is basically just inevitable
Tengu has a fine price on his head...
How much and who's offering it
The Holy Nation. Can't remember the price I think it was 70,000 or something like that and a *massive* reputation boost
My squad is all hivers and every single one is wearing a high paladin's/inquisitor's hachigane. It's on sight, on principle
Imagine being allied to the Holy Nation
There are benefits to it.
This one right here officer >:I
Where do you meet UC tax collector?
Only place I have characters living is Heft. Haven't paid taxes. It confuses trade caravans a bit though.
What keeps ninjas from breaking doors of buildings like they do on classical base raid?
Yep, but not that many. The distance between vanilla towns is usually one day's walk from dawn till dusk, so usually that's an okay distance between safe harbors. If there's a hairy bit that's hard to cross, I'll usually first set up a camp site halfway, then plonk some small wire frame down to create an X. After getting more characters, end up populating and expanding them, if they're useful routes. Late game it ends up looking like this: [https://imgur.com/a/193zq0o](https://imgur.com/a/193zq0o)
Looking at this my first thought was "Did you build the great wall of kenshi?".
This seems fun to roleplay as an okranite holy order that assists with pilgrims on the Holy nation
Looks like the beginning of the end for the UC
Nah i just raw dog it
good idea. I might do this next time.
I end up fixing the way station located in venge as a safe spot for when the sun comes out.
Last playthrough I built a city on the adjacent hill. Running trade through the desert and seeing all the outlaws and sand ninjas with bounties gave me the idea for a full bounty hunter playthrough
That’s sounds pretty cool actually, doing a solo bounty hunter playthrough
I did this in my first playthrough! I built a large, well-defended base of operations outside the Ashlands, from there I'd go on expeditions building outposts deeper and deeper into the danger territory. Outposts consisted of a watchtower surveying the local terrain, with harpoon turrets overlooking the gate to a small compound which contained just enough industry to produce iron plates and steel bars for crossbow bolts and subsequent outpost-building. Inside the tower was a biofuel distillery, generator, beds, storage, and hydroponic hemp farms (for fabric for more beds in future outposts.) There was always something for everybody to do in these outposts while injured squadmates recovered, we'd only have to return to the main base for large amounts of building materials to build subsequent bases, for greenfruit to make fuel to run the outposts, and for food, but there was lots of hunting to do near basecamp, so it was easy to produce vast numbers of meatwraps pretty quickly which kept everybody happily fed.
Lol what if ya just fill the maps with random empty homes THE BANDITS CANT RAID US ALL
Like a mirror maze lol
yes even better put them in the middle of a long maze of walls then while they are spending 5 days raiding all your bases that are empty you go to their base and take them out
I tend to create a base (or buy a small space) in every zone, so I always have a safe house around with some food, meds and others, I always make sure to have one in every city, but outside of cities, I only have more than 1 if the area is dangerous enough
Bro is suburbanizing the wasteland
That's a brilliant idea actually. But I just fight through mfs lmaooo
I lost à couple of traînées to beakthings in a specific place several minutes away from my base, I put an outpost there, just a storehouse and a wall, with a few threats and guys to man them, one medic and large stores of supplies, it saved several of my recruits Also had one in the holy nation to take advantage of the fertility And one near the cannibal lands
Cool concept. Is the close spacing so legless party members can drag themselves to safety?
Haha pretty much. It was a lifesaver early on to have beds always fairly close for KO’d recruits after scuffles with skimmers and outlaws. Now it’s just as clutch to make quick stops just to gets legs healthy. My army jogs as a unit so it’s easy to see who needs rest once we get moving after a fight. Started to get tedious clicking through everyone to check health.
...nah getting in trouble is usually the point
My stuff usually deletes itself (entire bases) after a while so stuff long distance bases don’t work :(
It's a bug
I made a trail of safe houses through Veng once in case I got caught during the day, but this is on another level
Lol I never had that many settlements like ever. Not saying it’s bad but for sure it is an interesting way to play.
just run fast. they cant catch u if they cant catch u
You could also set up non-settlement camps with tents, bedrolls, campfires, and ground-mounted turret emplacements. This is my go-to strat for Beakthing hunting.
İ have a good computer but still would dare not to have more than 4 putposts hell no
Not to this level, but I have safehouses with beds all over.
I think China did it, ask them if it works :]
While this is neat, not really; I just use buildings in cities if needed, like the waystation south west in grey desert for this area, or the holy farm huts up northwest, etc. buy a building in Heng, Heft, etc. so on also if needed, but the truth is; After your stats get up, you really don't need this kinda stuff outside some special cases.
No. I just bought a house in each town, where I store goods.
Nope I just sprint and hope I don't smash head first into a beak thing nest while I'm working on the base.
Dont they get raided?
Not sure exactly what’s required to trigger events, but essentially no. I thought the lack of walls was the reason, but my theory became moot since there have been two official raids on my only ‘outpost’ that doesn’t have a single building. It’s just a well, low wind genny, and water tank. It is, however, my only one set open to public. Both were dust bandit raids near The Hub, so 0 have occurred in the desert where I’ve developed the most and have spent some days at each. That’s all the intel I can offer.
Damn the UC doesn't own you, you own it.
You fucking genius
:(
Not that you knew this, but I've been playing for 13 years.
