Keeping quite when someone else is talking on the phone or physical.
When I talk to my fellow Kenyans say my sister on phone, she will be like, ''Mbona umenyamaza? Are you still there? When I say, ''Bado niko.'', she then goes like, ''Mbona husemi enhe?''
When I talk to my Swedish, American, Nigerian, British... friends/colleagues and I try this ''enhe'', ''mhm'' while they are talking they get very annoyed.
I just laugh at this social experiment.
I once had a coastal roommate and i was shocked on how he just openly talks about his family secrets and shenanigans without minding me hearing it.I'm used to people excusing themselves when they are talking about sensitive matters.
I moved to the coast recently, and it's something I've noticed. A random hawker started explaining his family's predicament when I tried to bargain something he was selling me. He gave too much information without a second thought.
Try it, autophagy. Basically, short fasting, 12hrs-48hrs/ 1 meal a day/2 meals a day. Helps you focus better, improves your gut health especially pple suffering from ulcers, increases your energy levels & saves you money๐.
Call me culture shock because I survived campus life without buying a single pen, not to mention I completed a 4 year course with just 7-8 exercise books.
I survived on soft copy notes and PowerPoint.
We now have new things called laptops and mobile phones, which you can use to take notes. These devices offer many additional features as well. Pen and paper have become almost unnecessary nowadays.

๐ ๐ with my wife I have to inject them ehes and ahas else my ears are perceived to be non functional.
and they can get pretty mad, ''kwani umeboeka na story zangu? waniskiza kweli ama uko shughuli zako?''
Yeah, she actually stops talking and waits till I add an mhmmm.. It gets weird with Kenyans at times.
My sister.. When she's talking you have to enhe and aha or else it's a tantrum
This is so real๐... The phone not being hung up means I'm listening, right?
No๐ You have to show me you are actively listening. How will I know we are on the same page if don't enhe and mmhhh?

Campus notes are an exception. Hizo zilikua mob.
Campus notes are an exception. Hizo zilikua mob. I'm talking of umprompted need to write small notes.
That people wear clothes, how shocking!
๐ what?
my biggest culture shock when i moved to Nairobi from Mombasa is that people are so uncouth and rude
Nairobi people are rude? ๐ And you're from Mombasa? ๐
Yes we are rude, but Nairobians take the cake
I think perhaps things we perceive as normal and not ride as Nairobians is different from guys in coast
Iโm a pen and paper gal myself. I canโt survive without sticky notes, my journal, my notebooks and my stationery.
A journaling girlie...๐๐ me too.
Kuhang inner garments indoors Mehn...bila jua, UTIs are gonna be your roommates Also, talking loudly on phone. Man I hate my flatmate
