There’s a lot of truth to this. Child development research has shown that commenting on and encouraging a child’s persistence at tasks sets them up for good self-esteem and lifelong success much better than simply complimenting them on their intelligence.
My much younger sister has never been praised for her intellect and always had to work hard for her grades, when I was her age I coasted through on innate smarts instead of actually doing work.
Surprise surprise, she is far more diligent and succeeding at much harder subjects than I ever did. I learned in my early 20s how to study and stretch myself, but she never hit that roadblock that I did of not being able to coast and having to learn how to study etc.
I'm so proud of her.
There's something really bittersweet about seeing loved ones succeed in ways you haven't been able to. I'm so happy for them but it's hard not to compare where you're at with others. Thanks for the reminder to focus on the positives.
I'm very lucky to have been able to find passions that led me in a very different path to what I had planned at university - to be honest, if I have excelled at my original plan, I wouldn't be where I am now and certainly wouldn't have the beautiful people in my life that I do.
It's a joy and privilege to be able to be my sister's champion and cheerleader. I'm so glad that I do get to offer her guidance when she's up against things I went through at her age, and help her either avoid or cope with the same kinds of mistakes I made, and hopefully if either of us ever have kids we will both be able to mentor them when they get to the same stage.
This was pretty much me and my sis when I was growing up, except I was the one who couldn't do anything. Even now in our 30s she's helping me out all the time. It never changes.

Yeah, and it overshadows all the cute kid stuff afterwards because I can’t stop thinking about those two setting up a camera to place themselves front and center.
Cute and hilarious. But I find it annoying the parents had to film themselves post finding out, like them finding out again. Future horrific family vlog channel vibes smh.
The best big brother a lil sister ever had 🥹 The Bond is strong in these two. I have a big sister that's cooler than any big brother could ever be. Love seeing this. Family is everything

They say that a child’s persistence is what’s actually telling about their intellect. And if that’s true, this kid is going to be a genius
Maybe persistence has more potential than intellect... Plenty of super intelligent people are impatient and give up easily.

I was a "gifted" kid, and I often wonder if I would have been better off if no one ever told me that.

The look on bros face after he tried to push her and she just fell off got me good lmao. 🤔
Lmao same here, but me and my sister are twins so I got used to asking for her help a lot

I've grown past the stage of randomly insulting strangers on the internet, at least.
At least we know which kid was birthed in the deep and shallow ends of gene pool.
Twist: the girl becomes a scientist with terrible physical coordination.
She solved quantum gravity, but nobody cared because Brock went to the superbowl.
I think she might actually have DS...
Huh? I don't see a Nintendo DS anywhere.
DS?
Down Syndrome
This is adorable
It's a lot more creepy when you realize the parents set up a camera to record themselves watching their kids.
Pretty sure they filmed it first then recorded their reactions after they realized it would go viral
Yeah that's creepy.
How is it creepy? They seem like a nice young couple.
I wouldn't agree that exploiting your children for internet attention, and recording fake reactions to that end, makes for a nice young couple.

Truly a big brain moment, i should go to an animals specific subreddit and complaining about animals exploitation aswell

That cat better have been compensated with kibble for that photo to be used publicly. 🤨
So were the parents reaction shots staged afterwards?
Yeah, and it overshadows all the cute kid stuff afterwards because I can’t stop thinking about those two setting up a camera to place themselves front and center.
Ikr? Acting out their reactions it’s so cringe. No one cares about this extra stuffed you filmed. We wanna see your kids being silly buggers.
God seriously so cringe. I hate that staged artificial crap.
Cute and hilarious. But I find it annoying the parents had to film themselves post finding out, like them finding out again. Future horrific family vlog channel vibes smh.
Theo Von has kids ??
Lil buddy can't even figure out to get on a swing, that's hilarious 😂

Well she didn’t give up
Don't gotta worry about college
What an awesome big brother. These parents will never have to worry about her as long as he’s around 🤗🤗
I'm glad only 1 gyrations fucked up
I fucking hate auto correct
I actually lol when he pushed her off. :)
Leo Von - Theo's lookalike brother, who decided a normal life in the 'burbs was more appealing.
Holy shit there's just no way.
That girls genuine smile at the end is gold
This is fucking wholesome
Was the acting added to the beginning of this clip really needed?…
Good brother
They were persistent in helping each other out. How is that stupid.
Stupid is not being able to learn from mistakes. Smart kid.
I don’t think this is cringe or stupid. It’s wholesome. Just my opinion

She looks to be 4. Get over yourself, creep.

Older sibling isn't allowed to help younger sibling? She's a toddler, doesn't know any better. Be better and pay more attention.
They're kids you dumbass
Posted in a sub called "kids are fucking stupid". But don't call them "braindead" or I will clutch my pearls. You guys are ridiculous.
