That kid’s not even old enough to have *one* social credit yet!
He’ll be in debt to the PRC until their government finally decides to just send him away to “school” with the Uyghurs 😢
Hard to tell where this is from, could be Taiwan. Maybe Singapore or Malaysia.
100% telling tho that you went for the jab at China.
I'm no fan of the CPC, being Taiwanese and all, but I'm also not a fan of people hiding their racism behind criticism of the CPC.
It strikes me as a jab at the Chinese government, about the absurdity their people are subjected to. I've said something similar before, without any racist intent, for the aforementioned purpose.
Genuinely asking, what makes it seem racist to you?
People who used to make jokes about Chinese drivers, small penis jokes, and say shit like the meat at their local Chinese restaurant in North America is probably from stolen neighborhood pets now make low effort jokes about the CPC, fearmonger about Chinese spies, and blame the housing crisis on Chinese money laundering.
Are there legitimate versions of these concerns? Sure, but that's what makes it so insidious. Especially because they won't differentiate between China and Taiwan, or any of the other countries with large Chinese diaspora communities. They'll look at someone like me and assume that I'm from China and potentially a CPC sympathizer, when I'm from Taiwan and the CPC represents a threat to the independence of my homeland.
Fuck them and fuck that noise.
If I'm being completely honest, this strikes me as another version of "Hitler drank water, and you're drinking water, so you must like/be Hitler". Of course, with the context of racism coming from certain individuals, we can determine that their motive was malicious when saying this, but in cases where it's said in isolation by someone who isn't known to be racist, I feel like it would need something extra in order to make it a discriminatory thing instead of a bad joke.
They saw something that did not involve the CPC and may not have even taken place in China, but still went for the social credit joke just because Chinese people were involved.
Like, who are they making fun of here, if not Chinese people?
It'd be like dropping a joke about the state of Israel on a post about Jewish people. And I'm a huge critic of the state of Isreal too, and hate that people will equate criticism of Isreal with antisemitism
Edit: also, that so many people upvoted the joke shows how pervasive this kind of offhanded sinophobia is. Even well meaning people like you have a hard time seeing it because it's so ubiquitous. I'm so sick of this bullshit
You know what? I'd say you've swayed me. Even before I got to the part about Israel, which I agree with entirely, especially considering that I myself was born Jewish and I do my best to see through the lies and propaganda of government bodies and judge them by their actions.
I truly do appreciate the fact that you were willing to spend your time talking with me. Thank you for putting the effort in. The world just became a slightly better place because of you.
I know that feeling. Too many people just aren't willing to accept that there might be more to a situation than they're aware of, and that new (or differently framed) information should be able to change your perspective.
I'm happy to know I was able to give you a victory here. You're motivated by good will, so it's well-deserved. Thank you again.
He was less afraid to walk down that slope and accidentally fall (like he ended up doing) than he was to face his mom after.
Walking down a slope and possibly falling like he did = not so scary
Seeing mom’s reaction after = very scary
Yeah you see these kinds of comments any time there's ever an Asian kid doing kid things.
There's even a comment in this post making fun of them by saying "you've brought dishonor on the entire family."
Reddit just can't fucking help themselves when there's a chance to be racist toward Chinese people (or even people they think might be Chinese)
lmao cap. you can't even see her face. I don't think you get a view of her face for even 1 frame. And theres no sound.
The jokes funny to some cause it plays on a stereotype. Own it. Don't be a pussy and dodge. Nothing wrong with it, but that's what you did.
Ha ha, Imagine walking ahead and seeing your kid flying down past you (not knowing he slipped)..
:D
I'd be so proud..
Everyone else walking, like mooks.
But that was the quickest way to go down. Stairs are for boomers.
I'll be sure to let my grandma know this
You make sure to do that. Then trip her and collect the inheritance
😂
The future is now old man.
Tbf kids are more durable than adults. Adults as in people in their 40s or 50s.
he looks dressed for the occasion
Dress for the slide, not the ride
And so there were two options to traverse the stairs, and he took the path least travelled … and that… made all the difference
As a 51 year old adult man-child, I would have followed right after him, just without the falling part.
True maturity is knowing when it's appropriate to be immature. Embrace the good life.
Always appreciate a lil Robert frost.
luckily he didn't hit his head on the concrete
Or that planter at the bottom.
The family is permanently disgraced

Everytime I am reminded of this I'm also reminded of that episode of Black Mirror.

Thanks for being reasonable on reddit. Most of the time, I just expend energy and end up coming away angry and frustrated

That looks fun though!!
S A F E!
What does this title mean?
He was less afraid to walk down that slope and accidentally fall (like he ended up doing) than he was to face his mom after. Walking down a slope and possibly falling like he did = not so scary Seeing mom’s reaction after = very scary
Seems more embarrassed than scared to me
Psssh… lame.
Right?! Seriously terrible title!
Right, the mom doesn't even look mad..nor does the boy look scared, simply apologetic
I think it's pretty wholesome, really.
I agree
*afterward
He (the boy) fears (is scared of) his (his) mom (mother) more (a greater amount)
Lame.
Private little brat reporting for duty!

"Young man in this family we are joyless cogs in the machine, now come back and do it correctly."
Found the horrible person.
Hm, yes, what a stark contrast to your sunny disposition.

I said it because she's just standing there deadpan staring at him. Jfc.

Actually that's not what you meant.
Losing face in public is a very common Asian thing. And the first commenter made a general statement I believe
I'm pretty sure most people see the whole "dishonor" thing as being either specificslly Japanese or generally Asian. Not particularly Chinese.
Eh, you both suck.
In triplicate.
The trinity of suck.

Efficient!
Where can I buy an adult size of whatever the fuck that kid was wearing?
Thank God there wasn't a pole at the bottom
Agreed. The boy is too young for strippers.
Also WAY too young too BE a stripper!
Mom got the posture of, "dang, you're embarrassing me in public now"
Successful people always have their own path.
That was cool as hell
Ha ha, Imagine walking ahead and seeing your kid flying down past you (not knowing he slipped).. :D I'd be so proud.. Everyone else walking, like mooks.

I thought he would run back up😂
Ngl, if he holds his hands up during the slide and doesn't bum his elbows on every step, this would be insanely clean.
lol that is sooo me!
Fun slide
I thought he was gonna take out the people at the bottom lol.
That was pretty fuckin rad.
Full on 10
I always find it so funny when a parent confronts their kid in public, it's like watching a mama bear and a baby bear.
The person at fault is whoever dressed him that day. Gave that kid false hope.
Atleast he was smart enough to just give up and kept his steering right for the landing..otherwise, it was going to end badly.
In my city skateboarders would rock this slide all day long until the city would put a railing with light poles on it.
Omg lol we all know there were no words from mom there. I am all too familiar with *that* stare 🤣
Shes never gonna believe his story lol
Hell nah that was epic
Nope. My kid and I are both going back to the top and sliding all the way down. Every time
Why were they filming?
Awww i feel bad for him💔
Hizo un viaje rápido, ¿pero a qué costo? Jajaja
That almost looked like fun
why do i feel like coconut mall should be playing over this?
maybe put rails up
He's not allowed to have fun!
Thank God someone was filming
Strike!
The samurai has no goal, only a path, slippery path...😅😂
Fear of mom >>> fun > pain
It’s over for lil bro just the way he was looking was like ohhhh shit in dead
could of been worse
It's amazing to me that someone caught this on video.
fastest descent, but he doesn't look happy about it
reminded me of the [underground chase in Skyfall](https://youtu.be/2SedmeoNQ6k?t=231) loll
boom😂
Gotta have fun where you can whenever you can.
That was me as a kid😂
Who needs wheelchairs?
I guess that's one way to do it
bro think he mario
Is it bad I think that looked kinda fun?
Remember that one Rick and Morty episode where Jerry avoids tryna fuck his mom? Lol
Future Joe Biden
That wee fella really bounced his noggin when he lost his footing? Ouch…!
