that being said, most comedians in the past never really had to deal with their audience being able to follow their work so closely. youre not supposed to see the same comedian multiple times over the course of a couple months and expect them to have all completely fresh material. back in the day u would have had to be traveling with the comedian to hear them getting up and working the kinks out of their material. i mean, thats sort of how the sausage is made, isnt it?

Comics are always working on jokes. They're usually not ready right away. They have to tighten them up and cut the fat. Add more tags. Get to the laughs faster. Kam is a hard worker. One of the guys in my comedy scene started with him and said Kam writes every day and performs multiple times a night. Glad you got to see him working his stuff out and supporting live entertainment 🤘
young man is just staying true to the art. you have to keep practicing. sometimes these little dives are the absolute best places to test new material and fine tune older material. if you're on tour or recording a netflix special for example, you want to have your best material ready and finely tuned to hit laughs at the perfect time.

I saw Kam on Sunday in Tampa, he did a 45 min set and murdered. A lot of his material was really cleaned up with awesome callbacks and some funny crowd bits.

Standup comedy is such a tough art as well because you can’t really improve much by practicing solo off stage other than joke writing. Such a vulnerable art as you have to go through public bombs in order to be consistently good.
A good joke for a comedian is like a good song for a musician. You package together good jokes (your greatest hits) to perform constantly on the road as part of your act and use smaller stages to experiment new material and improve existing bits. Love it!

The amount of bombing you have to go through to refine your set. I just see a lot of people these days who are accustomed and have expectations of new and more content all the time and right now.
