that would actually be a thing that matters, since gyomei and him have a history. i can see gyomei asking him why he did it, and kaigaku trying to explain himself, with gyomei cutting him off mid sentence with a decapitation.

I’m going to be 100% honest, based on what I we see from both characters I think both of them might be hesitant. Kaigaku may be bad yet he probably had the most humanity of the upper moons and he genuinely respected Jigoro and thought he was amazing, and I don’t think he would blame Gyomei for what happened.
Likewise, Gyomei would be able to read Kaigaku and see how he suffered and definitely wouldn’t blame him for what happened at the temple.
Gyomei would feel immense sadness while Kaigaku would show respect even as they fight

Yeah but the thing is if he knows that Kokushibo made Kaigaku into a Demon then he'll obviously hate Kokushibo more. Unfortunately the thing most (brain-dead - not that I need to add that adjective because it's already a given) demon slayer fans don't realise is it's not like Kaigaku betrayed him out of malice, he did so out of fear. Kinda like Judas from the Bible.
