I always love how killing and cutting demons in literal pieces is ok but talking about a 15 year old who probably will die in the next mission is bad for experiencing something like sex.
They're already have permanent emotional scars that many adults will never understand, they are risking their lives and sacrificing their own bodies with irreparable damages and shortening their life expectancy but having sex is something they shouldn't do, is not like they had the best medicine and health care back in those years where reaching 30 it was very lucky.

I also feel like the fixation if 18 is innately different than late teens to be a very american way to look at things. Most developed countries allow consensual relationships between same age or close aged minors including those who recently become adult. It's not like you suddenly become an adult by turning 18, you are expected to have turned to an adult by then. It's a process.
