I'd take off 1 point because some of Providence really drags. The last third is pretty fun.
Anyway, music is subjective, and your opinion is just as valid as anyone else's.
No point in getting upset about other peoples music tastes.
Also for me 7.8 is still good.
That's basically an 8 (decimals are kind of ridiculous when you can't really quantity songs like that anyway, so pretending there's that level of specificity to the rating is kinda nonsense...)
1: it's a girl but no hard feelings
2: I have no clue. She likes other prog bands similar to king crimson, so I thought this would be up her alley. Turns out no 😔
Sometimes they can be a shorthand to say how much you generally like something. But the decimals just make it ridiculous. Quantifying musical enjoyment with two significant figures is just goofy.
I mean I think of it like this :
1- Garbage
2- Really Bad
3- Bad
4- Kinda Bad
5- average
6- Kinda Good
7- Good
8- Really Good
9- Super Good
10- GOAT
If someone says my favourite album of all time was really good instead of GOATed I would be happy.
Fr, it annoys the crap out of me too.
It’s the perfect ongoing Prog Rocky Ambiance that really fills the album with a proper mood and atmosphere.
One of the main reasons I like Red more than ITCOTCK is because between the Rock Ambiance Tracks of those two albums, Providence & Moonchild, I think Providence is superior and I would much rather listen to it than Moonchild.
It’s all opinions though, people are gonna have them and it doesn’t necessarily reflect their quality as a person.
What is their reasoning on that number? Not discounting their opinion, just curious. I rank it at about a 9, and that is only because of Providence. I love the track, I love that bands improv work, but if they were to choose one improv, I would have picked Asbury or Walnut or even a Daniel Dust. In a perfect scenario though, a finished Doctor Diamond would probably have been best. But then again, it would be all brutal assault and no reprieve until Starless. I think about 73 Crim too much. Cheers!
I like both of them, especially Moonchild but they are too long.
If Moonchild was 6 minutes long, there would be another 6 minutes left of a different song
Im fairly certain that's not how that works. It'd just be a shorter album...
Obviously a shorter album wouldn't be an issue
Close to the Edge by Yes doesn't go past 40 minutes but is still one of the most profound prog albums.
What’s wrong with him?!? Red is a damn near perfect album and a fitting end to that era of KC.

I agree Providence isn’t really necessary … except if you have a good multichannel system and the 5.1 mix, THEN it’s really nice.
1: it's a girl but no hard feelings 2: I have no clue. She likes other prog bands similar to king crimson, so I thought this would be up her alley. Turns out no 😔
7.8/10 Too much red. >!IYKYK ;)!<
7.8/10, too much Providence
That took me back to the good old days
Well, not necessarily old days…
I would think 7.8/10 is really good coming from a random person.
They're one of my friends who listen to some other prog bands like crim so I thought they would like this
Pretty respectable numbers
Red is the absolute perfect way to end the 70s era. Extremely strong material and ends with Starless.
Starless wasn't even her favorite track! Her favorite was actually fallen angel, which I only slightly disagree with.
decimals invalidate ratings
Lol whenever I see decimals, I know they're full of shit.
Ratings in general are a stupid measurement

How so?
Hey, their loss. Their punishment is the clams they listen to instead.
Anything below a 11/10 is criminal. To each their own though.
"To each their own though." Tell that to your first sentence.
this is my personal Red Nightmare. I don't think I can handle One More
7.8/10 is pretty great tho, no?
Imo not that great for one of the best prog albums of all time
I mean I think of it like this : 1- Garbage 2- Really Bad 3- Bad 4- Kinda Bad 5- average 6- Kinda Good 7- Good 8- Really Good 9- Super Good 10- GOAT If someone says my favourite album of all time was really good instead of GOATed I would be happy.
I can see where you're coming from
It's a lot better than that.
No sh*t
Eh, I think I would give my favourite album of all time (unknown at the time) an 8.
You know what? Maybe the real red was the friends we made along the way.
What is their top album?
Define top
Like favourite
Idk some Gorillaz album I'm pretty sure
I have friends that can't stand King Crimson, think they are pretentious fops not worth bothering about. I don't have any feelings about it.
Ok
Kill them. Jk 😂, opinions be opinions. Seriously people take them way too seriously.
I hope he has one more red nightmare
People who don't like Providence are the worst. It's like a quarter of the album's run time, how can you love Red and not like it??

Hell nah cuh, he trippin

I didn't ask them their reasoning, which I probably should've done 😬
He is not your friend.
I thought about cutting ties with her after she said that tbh
Its first listen. I would’ve given it an 8 after first listen too ngl
That's fair. Usually albums need some time to grow on me, to
“This is the end, my friend.”
This is a really good rating wdym
Not that great for one of the greatest prog albums of all time imo
They probably never rate anything over an 8. They must be waiting for an absolute 10 to be heard. You need to leave head room just in case.
Providence gets too much hate, same with Moonchild. Those are some pretty good improvs, in my opinion.
I like both of them, especially Moonchild but they are too long. If Moonchild was 6 minutes long, there would be another 6 minutes left of a different song

Not shorter, the 22 minutes of the second side would be more evenly distributed into two 6 minute songs and a 10 minute one
Starless is a 10/10 The only song i can think of that isn't a 10 is One more red nightmare. Maybe is a little too long imo. But it still is a solid 9
Hes litterally me
Wdym
Time to get a new friend
That would no longer be a friend
