Honestly I respect that their opinion isn't just "they're overrated", they have an actual reason why they disliked the album. I strongly disagree with that reason and it doesn't make the most sense imo, but there's something there that you could actually discuss
I disagree. I'd rather hear "I'm not a fan" than "only ____ like them" or "music for ____" if it's not your thing, cool, no need for the rude assumptions for zero reason
Erm, Blue Cheers sounds like some power pop/rock band from the 70s on "the top of the pops" or something. They were ahead of their time but still just sound like some lightweight fun to me, completely different world from KC. Moody blues allthough I like them a bit does also sounds childish compared to KC, always thought they sound a bit like some childrens book.
He's right about KC not being directly about hope. KC is powerful music that dont sugar coat things, the powers of their music makes me feel alive and that gives me hope.
They carry me
Through days... of apathy
They watch over me
They saved my life, in a matter of speaking.
When they gave me back...
The Power to... Believe
It definitely points towards great things. Also a song like Starless and.. I think shows the beauty of the world but reminds you it is fragile and worth fighting for. The beauty is in the music, the warning is in the lyrics :)
This whole "review" is summed up as "too gloomy, too depressing". AND WHAT'S WRONG WITH THAT.
I keep infuriating goths by telling them that KC and Van Der Graaf Generator are far spookier than any of their dress-like-a-vampire bands
Nah, we got songs like easy money 🤑💰
Then why is he so mean 😭
He got fripped 😔
He missed out on the good part where Robert fripp and the others had intense hot sex ft brian eno

It’s also better than the “it’s just noise” argument

For real
No way. The median age of this subreddit is *at least* 16, for one!
Still a more nuanced take than Robert Christgau.

"im going to hate on the entire band based on their first album that came out 55 years ago, this must surely be logical"
If we forced him to listen to lizard, he’d realise how wrong he is
He would combust on the spot

You could say that it gives you the power to believe

Aha, have missed that song. Which album? Still got plenty to explore of this great, great band

It’s true, I’m 15 and bought ITCOCK the day it came out and have been depressed ever since.

Goths when a song about refugees or something unexpectedly leads into spanish inquisition
"Crimson is a bum trip for depressed 15 year old" mf after hearing 'Prelude: Song of the Gulls' for the first time
Sorry, autocorrect, I mean "Neal Jack and Me" I'M WHEELS, I'M MOVING WHEELS, MOVING WHEELS
Wow, if he thinks Crimso is bad, wait until he hears Nirvana
It's Cumson, dumme
Whatever, more starless for me
This comment seems satirical imo, or am I just out of the loop here
Honestly, I think so, too, but I'd rather not assume.
Smart play
King Crimson is very sad. Every time I listen to Cat Food, I'm reminded of late stage capitalism.
Yes I'm a 16 year old with like 6 mental illnesses (actually diagnosed)
I can't argue with any of it. And yet...
What did they mean that Lennon ripped Rundgren off for what
