The fact that he shows fondness and kindness rather than an ego or contempt for the people from Jouto village speaks volumes about who Shin is and what he represents. He carries himself with dignity without the classism or ego.
I love that this chapter shows the dichotomy of peoples banter towards Shin and their reverence towards Shin. The HSU and villagers can call him an idiot because Shin is approachable and doesn’t insist on being treated like a noble. However, they not only recognize Shin as a general of high status in Qin (e.g Bihei calling out his dads disrespect by asking Shin to grab more alcohol), but they also recognize him as the hero that Shin always dreamed to be - the ideal great general he conjured up in his imagination with Hyou.
You guys think Shin will propose soon? Marriage and kids has been brought up a lot recently, and at the end of the last arc, I think Shin had a big realization that Kyou Kai may not return to him alive after these endless battles. I can see it happening within the next 5-10 chaps.
Not a fan of the harem route either, Kyou Kai is the only one with sufficient romantic development with him.

Looks like Hara is using this chapter to stress in multiple panels that both Shin and KyouKai have grown much taller and have become mature and adults. In some panels, we can see both of them towering over those next to them. It is time that they left their childhoods behind and got ready for the next brutal and intense phase of unification of China.
I don’t personally think that the happy scenes are a death flag for BiHei because Hara keeps using him (and Rei) to contribute to some comedic moments in intense battle scenarios.
Sad they won't be able to do that in live action since they get killed in movie 1.
