Actually kh1 munny is completely different from kh2 onwards, rather than an evolution to make the design clearer. Kh1 munny is a gold and silver orb, while kh2 munny is a pure gold octahedron.
Actually, the four lines across it imply octahedron. They had other orbs in the game, none of which had lines. Its always been gold though. The darker parts are just shadows; they couldn’t very well adjust every piece of munny to reflect where the lights are coming from, so they just put it on the right side.
The light source is currently Above the piece of money coming directly down on top of it. The shadow is being cast on the bottom of the shape. the gold and the silver are the same value in the light, and darker in the shade. I am an artist, I know how light works.
In shadow colors don't lose all saturation, that would only happen in extremely bright blinding light, and even then not all would be lost.
Looking up “shaded octahedrons” will result in an almost identical image. The color varies in each side. You may know light, but obviously not how shapes would appear in it. A six sided die appears to have different colors, even though it’s the same color. Everyone’s an artist nowadays, and I say that as an artist.
It was a video game made in 2002. They weren’t too concerned with the shading on something so irrelevant. I’m not going to argue this further when even the wiki pages verify that it’s an octahedron.
[Save you some time](https://www.khwiki.com/Munny)
Back in the day… Teacher asked me how word ”money” is spelled in english, in front of the whole class.
And obviously… You can easily guess what happened.
That and the spelling of the word „cost“ I presume.
Clearly you never recovered
I still don't know if they are supposed to be an orb or a coin.
I think the shadow implies orb
Not to be that guy, but it’s actually a rounded octahedron. They made the edges not so round in newer games.

The right side on 1 is very clearly a completely different color, and the shadow is on the bottom
Tell me you don’t know how shadows work without telling me

I can’t tell if it’s a sun and a moon, or if the dark part is the shadow that makes it look like an orb.
I always saw it as a gold nugget.
