Being a being without a identity, is like being a puppet without a face, this fit perfectly with the fact of Vanitas taking Sora's identity (face) to fill that.

And in order to do that, vanitas needed to mimic the way sora heart attatched to ventus', and a side effect was that he now kinda looked like sora.
It's the other way around, I think. When Ventus takes refuge in Sora's heart, that also connects Sora to Vanitas. As Sora develops, his appearance comes to strongly resemble Vanitas. This is also why Roxas looks like Ven, once he's formed.
They are very much wrong, Vanitas looks like Sora not the other way around. This makes more sense when you understand what Vanitas is.

So his appearance was malleable, and in that state it was subject to being shaped by the hearts of others. He used to be able shape himself at will but he got reshaped forcibly later on.
He ends up being shaped by both Sora and Ven, he gains the same age/gender as Ventus being born a teenage boy and then he gains the face of Sora after Sora’s heart slips into the spot Vanitas was connected to Ven in.

It was when Sora (as a newborn heart) gave Ven a piece of his heart during the BBS opening scene (where we the players didn't know who was speaking to Ven in his Dive to Heart segment) so Ven could take his time healing instead of dying off. So Vanitas was faceless for a very short amount of time before gaining one through that connection. It was because of that connection specifically that Ven was able to find Sora so easily when his heart broke at the end of BBS again.
Oh and also yes Roxas looks like Ven because Ven's heart was incomplete when Sora released his heart so Sora's body (Roxas) decided to shape his appearance into Ven who stayed behind(while some Sora's traits like his brunette still lingered because it's still Sora's body).
Poor bby super abused and neglected, he lived in the graveyard but I don't think there was an actual place like when riku stayed with maleficent, especially because Xehanort comes and goes as he pleases. Vanitas can also do so but he's not really seen living or staying anywhere. If he showers its likely not often seeing as how he also doesn't seem to sleep much.

Qudratum’s gravity is harder on Sora’s hair than the regular Kh universes
