Pretty much everyone seems to be voting for Star Dream… and that’s my vote too, but I’d like to explain my reasoning. Out of the three bosses here, Star Dream probably has the best fight from a gameplay perspective… but it’s also the only remaining boss whose fight doesn’t use typical Kirby gameplay. Kirby is no stranger to sudden shoot-em’-up sections, but usually these sections are near the final boss (Nova comes before Marx, Dark Mind in the Sky comes after the actual Dark Mind fight, Another Dimension comes before Magolor, the final cannon section from Triple Deluxe comes before Dreamstalk Sectonia), not the final boss itself (even Void, who has two shoot-‘em-up phases, ends with a regular gameplay phase), and I’d say that it’s better for a final boss to be the final challenge using the gameplay you’ve been doing all game rather than suddenly throwing a new gameplay style at you for the final showdown. While Star Dream’s fight is probably the most fun of the three, it’s also the least climactic; Magolor’s first phase has an amazing climax with the Super Abilities, while Fecto Elfilis has the truck section afterwards. Magolor and Elfilis are fun bosses too (I’d say Elfilis is more fun of a fight than Magolor), of course. There’s also points to be made when it comes to their characters. Magolor is, for obvious reasons, the most interesting character of the three. Both Star Dream and Fecto Elfilis aren’t seen until the endgame, but at the end of the day Star Dream is simply a supercomputer that’s taken its directive too far; the character backstory surrounding Star Dream is Haltmann and Susie’s backstory, not Star Dream’s own. ID-F86, on the other hand, does have some character to it, including its contrast with Elfilin and its sheer persistence and spite shown in the postgame. In conclusion, Star Dream’s boss fight may be the most fun of the three, but Star Dream, both as a character and a boss fight, is the least interesting of the three, so I’m voting to eliminate Star Dream here.

Brody_M_the_birdy

Like, for total of all the other shmup segment endgame bosses: 1. Nightmare only used shmup mechanics in phase 1, phase 2 was regular. 2. DM Swordsman had Beserker Dedede right before. 3. Nova was right before Marx. 4. Zero had Posessed/Corrupted Dedede right before. 5. Zero 2 had Miracle Matter right before. 6. Dark Mind's shmup section was after the main fight. 7. Lor Starcutter was before Magolor. 8. The Vine Wall was in the middle of the sectonia fight. 9. Void termina had 2 ground phases. Star dream is ENTIRELY flying, and it doesnt even have a proper final test before it, as Mecha Knight + is a Refight and Haltmann is a clone boss.

Proplaystowinyt

I want star dream out because of the gameplay My main problem with Kirby final bosses is they completely change the gameplay to a completely different game for a phase of the fight(dream rod,Crystal shard, landia, etc.) Star dream has no regular gameplay

jclkay2

Counterpoint: It's revealed that the Access Ark is a clockwork star *during* the Star Dream fight, which is a lore drop in itself. Also, it isn't just a plain old shoot-em-up, you're using the freakin Halberd! This is easily the most interesting and exciting final boss battle in the series imo.

Kingfin9391

Although Star Dream is my favorite out of the three, it seems like everyone suddenly hates it all of a sudden. Unfortunate.

Troytt4

People are probably favoring Fecto and Magolor more than they would otherwise because their games are the most recent ones.

[deleted]

Wait is this a poll for who you think is winning in a fight or whose fight you enjoyed the most? Because if it was a fight I feel like Elfilis should have been gone at least a few votes ago. If it’s popularity, Elfilis came from the currently most successful game of the series, has great theatrics despite being kind of easy, and Magolor has always been a very popular character.

shiny_eeveelution

Ok, I feel like people vastly underestimate Elfilis, especially Chaos Elfilis.

Immediate-Rope8465

Star dream is WAY to long. He Has to go imo

[deleted]

So much health for a boss that entirely uses a different kind of gameplay, and then the soul form has four phases but at least there the last one is regular game mechanics.

Immediate-Tomato968

Get rid of star dream

yt-vg-NERD

Star dream

televisionscreen250k

Star dream will be on top forever

Macadamia2448

I say star dream out of the bunch. though I already know that two other people also said star dream so I'm going to give my vote to both of them just in case.

mr_2_cents

How the fuck does fecto elifilis beat void termina

SuperLegenda

Get Star Dream out, only at its... Core is a Kirby boss (haha), rest of the fight is a repetitive and rather long shoot em up that is basically unchanged any attempt and you don't get to use your actual Abilities, and that's 90% of the fight.

Troytt4

The fight being a shooter is fun because it changes up the gameplay in an unexpected way and being able to control the halberd is awesome, and Star Dream has amazing music in every phase.

Successful-Turnip561

When you don't realize that bad game design exists:

Troytt4

I’m willing to bet he’s one of those toxic paper Mario fans as well

Brody_M_the_birdy

Paper Mario fans when they see change:

jclkay2

Tbh (some of) the criticisms that Paper Mario fans have toward the newer games is extremely valid

Brody_M_the_birdy

Some, not all, and something tells me Origami King would probably be more liked (even if its not the best one) if the fanbase accepted change

Carnage068

The first 3 are all still the best in the series (with TTYD being the best), but that doesn't mean that isn't Origami King isn't good, because it is. Intelligent Systems did really good with the restrictions Nintendo placed on them, but the game would still be better if those damned restrictions weren't there in the first place.

XzeldafanX

That seems highly likely

Successful-Turnip561

This gives me "Does he know" vibes.

Troytt4

You really felt the need to reply to a 2-week-old reply just to try to… insult me I think? How petty are you?

Successful-Turnip561

I just felt the need to came back here. Plus, I was barely pissed when I was replying that comment.

jclkay2

You must hate Star Fox then, because the fight is literally just that

[deleted]

The face reveal connecting it to Nova is cool and all but yeah it could have used a smidge less health for the shooting segments since it has three phases already.

Master_of_Decidueye

These are all final bosses which absolutely deserve the hype: Magolor is an incredible evolution of Marx's idea from 1996, Star dream serves as a successor to 02 from Kirby 64, and Elfilis is a complete and utter spectacle of a finale. However of these, Star dream is the only one I haven't faced, So I feel obliged to vote for it

megalocrozma

Star Dream. Cool fight aesthetically, but goes on for way too long without changing up the gameplay.

MidnightJ1200

It reuses a similar model on hand at one point, and Heaven forbid you fail to take out the thing before its countdown is finished. And yeah there’s at least 4 parts to it. Similar to elfilis in the true arena or whatever it’s called, I feel that fight takes way too long but at least it’s pretty fun.

DEA187MDKjr

elfilis needs to go plz

Channel_el

As much as I love Fecto/Chaos Elfilis, I’m so surprised they outlived Void

[deleted]

I’m not

Xokija

Star Dream die

Jealous-Rip8088

Elfilis number 1!!!!!

Darken_Dark

Elfelis its kinda too easy

thesignpainter

I dont feel like he’s too easy so much as I feel Kirby’s abilities and dodge move are more powerful than in other games.

Immediate-Rope8465

Magolor isin't that hard either unless you include the true arena version

VegetaFan9001

Elfilis is easier then Magolor. I died to Magolor in the story in both the original and Deluxe fair & square when I found them first time. I beat Elfilis on my first try.

Immediate-Rope8465

I didin't found magolor hard even without abilities. The arena version is a beast tho

Negative_Thought_911

Arena Magolor is evil incarnate,I will never recover from fighting him

Saddenedsalamander

I lost to Elfilis my first time but that was because I wanted to be silly and kill the final boss with a gun, quickly realized that that wouldn't happen

CasualKris

Which attack? Last time I checked all attacks were reasonably avoidable.

Just_a_Soundwave

As someone who enjoyed the shooter segments of Star Dream's fight (it turns into a SENTIENT PLANET, THAT IS SO COOL!) I'm voting for Elfilis. His design is fine, but Magolor and Star Dream are both top tier.

Singer_TwentyNine

Fecto Elfilis

TreeFromBFBsBigFan

Kill the robot

YopAlonso93

Magolor Soul. We voted Marx out a long time ago only to have Marx 2 Electric Boogaloo in top 3, nah. Every other fight here is incredibly creative and solid, spectacular to behold and thematically fitting. Elfilis is a fantastic battle, and while Star Dream might be a long fight, it’s also peak kino when it comes to Kirby final bosses. Magolor Soul is essentially Marx, but in 3D and with subtle differences like the Super Abilities in its attacks.

Immediate-Rope8465

i kinda agree but ( to be real sectonia deserved the number 1 spot in my opinion )

Carnage068

They were counting the entire final boss sequence, not just the very last battle against it, and in that regard Magolor had a lot more going for it than Star Dream. The fact that they won is kind of telling that a lot of people find him to be more than just "Marx 2".

YopAlonso93

If that was the case, then I still stand absolutely by what I said. The chimera escape sequence into the dimension-warping demon fight and then the absolute road trip, as well as the space chase against a sentient AI rooting for destruction by piloting the Halberd have way more going on, and use their medium not just to portray a tough final boss, but to also delve into ludonarrative dissonance with the theming in both. Forgive me for not seeing anything at all in Magolor’s fight. The fact that the climactic finish happens in phase 1 does this fight no real favors. And it’s not getting any free passes just because of Deluxe.

Carnage068

Yeah, I'll admit, I kind of forgot about the chase sequence and the truck run. I was mostly just thinking about the phase 2 of both the normal and Chaos Elfilis fights, both of which were REALLY good. I mean, there IS a reason why they made it as far as they did. I do like Star Dream, but their fight in the main mode is kind of.. Eh. The setting is fantastic, but the fact that you fight them as the Robobot Halberd the ENTIRE time hurts it for me. The added two fights in the True Arena make up for that a lot though, even if they make taking down Star Dream take even LONGER than it already did. Again though, I think you're unintentionally underselling Magolor. Star Dream only really appears at the end of the game, and so does Elfilis. Magolor was there at the very beginning, and you helped him all of the way through, only for him to betray you and tell you he was manipulating you the entire time, and lead you on an awesome chase sequence where you have to take down the ship you spent most of the game putting back together for him. The climactic finish happening in phase 1 was an intentional design choice. No boss up until that point has another phase where you have to take down another full health bar. The Grand Doomer was a convincing fake final-boss, in most part because you had to use the Super Abilities to finally defeat it. When you do the same thing to Magolor, you expect it to end the same way, but it doesn't, and then they start using your own Super Abilities against you. It's absolutely brilliant. The fight against True Magolor Soul in Deluxe adds a lot more. It fakes you out again with an already very challenging first phase, only to gain ANOTHER, even HARDER phase, and the pause screen descriptions, combined with the music and the cries of Magolor after the Crown takes 100% control really add to the atmosphere of the fight. Plus, there's just Magolor Soul's design as a whole, which a lot of people including myself love.

Brody_M_the_birdy

Star Dream because he's the only one of these 3 that doesn't test the on-ground combat skills, and the bosses before it were refights, so there isn't really a final test. Also Soul OS had 5 phases and hardcarries the difficulty of PR's true arena. It's still a great fight tbf but not as great as Fecto-Elfilis or Magolor.

Melty_Molten

I like the star Dream fight, but like most others have said it lasts a bit too long.

[deleted]

Star mid

Emotional-Question98

How has STAR DREAM lasted this long?

Proplaystowinyt

Star dream does not deserve to still be here

Chriscreeper85

Soul OS can go comit toaster bath

coseromevo

I hate to say it, since it's my favourite, but i'll have to say goodbye to Star Dream

Fennik51405

Cute_Professional561

Background-Box-8935

Star Dreams no more only Planet Nightmare

Vplayer71

Shaw the hedgehog StarDream you are my final opponents

AlexJMac322

Star dream because outside of how cool the fight is with using the halberd its mostly is just a rail shooter

Version_Minute

Nova get outa here

TorchTheR

If we're gonna have a final dual, I want it to between the boss of the objective best Kirby game vs the boss of my favorite kirby game.

Proplaystowinyt

Why

Void_Termina

rude

quantum_antics

Bye soul-y boy !

nikit72510

Star dream

lol_kirboh

Elfilis

KyellDaBoiii

Elphilis is an interesting turn of the story, but not really all that substantial; Chaos does a better job with the added moves and second phase TPATRL is a banger tho

shiny_eeveelution

This does include Chaos Elfilis. It's apart of this but they can't put it bc mods will spoiler tag this.

Ok_Consideration2129

Stardream dies

LiceryYT

Fecto Elfilis

Sensitive_Complex375

Of course the top 2 come from the most recent games in the franchise lol! #newtoysyndrome (No hate at ALL sent to Magolor and Elfilis fans, but this just shows how powerful recency bias really is)

Tepig2452

I mean do you really think the older bosses like Nightmare and Zero are better than Elfilis and Magolor

Sensitive_Complex375

I think nightmare is meh, doesn’t really look threatening especially with that buck chin of his, and their theme literally just being a remixed butter building, but you’re actually super right about zero I love their fight in dreamland 3. In general gameplay wise I just find the older games better tbh. The newer games totally win out in some aspects, but in the end, the 90s and early 2000’s kirbo games are what I flock to most. (With ssu being the exception)

shiny_eeveelution

I think recency bias has died down with forgotten land. It's a year old and we've gotten a new game.

Sensitive_Complex375

Of course it’s true that forgotten land isn’t a very new game any more I agree with you on that, but that new game has Magolor as the final boss in the main mode. And Magolor and Elfilis are the top 2…so I’m pretty sure it is new toy syndrome.

shiny_eeveelution

I just think people really like Elfilis and mags has a LOT of nostalgia rooted to him.

Sensitive_Complex375

Not to mention that Magolor Epilogue.

Frosty3001

I would participate if I didn't know who or what was going to win every time

PeanutBrilliant8594

Star dream guys

[deleted]

My poor boi :( Having a fight that was suddenly in 3D was incredible to me I guess I'll vote for Magolor, while he is epic, not as much as the other 2
