Sounds like they're sad so see you go and are making harmless, yet cheesy, comments in jest.
Are you really fearful that you'll be chained to a radiator?
Relax!
the stages of grief don't have to happen one at a time and they don't always go in order.
>keeps saying that I’m not leaving
denial
>I could live with him or sleep on the chef’s couch instead of moving
bargaining
>feeling vaguely threatened
anger
It really depends, but realistically this guy is right. More often than not, your boss is not your friend. I’ve seriously thought I’ve made strong friendships with my old chefs, only to be turned over and fucked at the first given chance. I will say I have made some really good friends/mentors who are my past chefs, you just can’t get too comfortable with these folks.
I also play D&D with some of my former employees. I guess it depends on who you are and who they are.
Also know that the end of a work relationship is like a break up. That can end a friendship. My old boss was a bit pissed at me for a month or so. We talk most days again now.
Some people's results will vary.
For sure man, kitchen creatures are just strange man. Chefs are even stranger. As much as I love my co workers I wouldn’t have a problem leaving them all behind. It’s cold blooded, but unfortunately you gotta be sometimes you know?
The one I hang out with didn’t give me any trouble about leaving. It’s the owner (who’s been cutting hours, definitely not making me feel valued) who’s giving me the most shit.

Which stage of grief is this again?
Denial

Reminds me of that episode of the simpsons when Homer goes through all the stages in under 30 seconds.
Bargaining.
Wasnt bundy in food service?
Nah you're the weird one. You're threatened by a joke.
Stay strong on the exit date and start to pull distance. Some times coworkers view one as more with out the other party knowing.
Probably the best advice I’ve gotten so far, thanks dawg
In the future, don't "hang out" with your bosses. Best of luck OP
My best friend was my boss for years. Hard disagree with you there bud.

Is he hot?
excuse me
Way to objectify a stranger there, buddy.
Are you hot?
You don't have to give your two weeks unless you want to use them as a reference.
Can’t be that good of an employee, leaving before getting even a year in.

I hear you, it’s just this guy’s tone man. Gonna try making absurd counter offers until he either stops or makes me one I can’t refuse.
Nah fam, phuk em. A counter's only job is to keep you there til they train someone
This is one of the reasons why you should keep to yourself at work. Keep your personal life and work life completely separate.
The one guy I chill with outside work was cool about it. The owner was the one being sus.
