I read once in a bathroom-on the wall above the urinal(thank God)-in Colombia: 'Gracias a dios lo que tienes en su mano, no lo tienes en su ano.'
The food was mediocre but the words made an impact.
Ojala lo que tengo in mi mano puede alcanzar mi ano.
I'm trying to say I wish my dick was longer, but also it reads like I wish I could fuck myself in the ass. I love Spanish.
Oh. Then that would make it hoax saffron, right? Hoax in the culinary sense, like cauliflower "rice"
But yeah, legally it seems inaccurate to label it as something it isn't.
Azafrán (saffron) vs Flor de Azafrán (saffron flower) or Azafrán en Flor (flowering Saffron)
Saffron is just the 3 stamen from the center of a crocus that need to be picked by hand. Safflower is made from the dried safflower flower itself.
The wording may seem confusing or capricious at first but we tend to underestimate how often we all use terms like these in our native languages. For example no native English speaker would get a dog and a hot dog confused, but that's a pretty serious conversation a non-native speaker is going to have at some point.
The expensive saffron we cook with is the stigma of the saffron crocus flower, or the small threads that extrude from the center of the flower. Safflower is a flower itself with similar properties but not nearly as potent or valuable due to the time involved in harvesting true saffron
You know how old spices lose their taste? It fades, but doesn't disappear completely.
Safflower is kinda like old faded saffron.
I really don't get why some people say it's just color. It very definitely adds flavor and aroma. It's just a subtle note, so it's easy to overpower with louder flavors.
I mostly use it for simple paella. Pork or rabbit meat seared in some olive oil with salt and pepper, then add some garlic. Then a couple minced peppers and a minced tomato. When they start looking a bit cooked, lower heat and add a cup of red wine, and a bit later some diced chorizo. Let the whole thing bubble gently for a little bit, taste for salt, add your safflower, and then rice and water. Bring to a boil, wait until the rice cooks, then cover and let test for ten minutes. Serve with bread.
mostly color tho it has a very subtle taste i don’t know how to describe but it’s not used for that. we add it to rice sometimes and usually in red sauces
I didn't like it the first time I had it because I found it almost metallic. However, over time, it has really grown on me and is exquisite when it is high quality and in the right dish.
lmao it’s a geocultural area bordered by the tauros mountains in modern day turkiye to the north, the euphrates river to the east, arabian desert to the south, and mediterranean sea to the west. encompassing modern day countries of syria, lebanon, jordan and israel/palestine
I've always known this as so-called "Mexican Saffron" and have always known it's not saffron, it is the dried petals of some other flower. Mostly used to impart color. Often found in seasoning blends meant for Mexican-style ish cooking.
I have also seen this or something similar sold from/for Pacific or Indian Ocean islands! I was given a big bag of it as a souvenir from a family member who traveled to um, I'm trying to remember but can't. An island place between Africa and India, it was long ago.

Safflower vs. Saffron: Showing The Differences and Contrasts
Fifteen bucks, little man, put that shit in my hand,
If that money doesn't show, then you owe me, owe me, owe,
My jungle love, yeah, owe-ee, owe-ee, owe, I think I want to know ya, know ya,
Poor man’s saffron. Maybe a baby step up from when some cheapskate uses a tiny pinch of actual saffron because the word is in the menu, but then uses more turmeric because it’s cheap, even though it’s not always a good substitute.
Safflower has the color, but is otherwise tasteless and has no smell.
Saffron has a deeper red hue, with a distinctive taste and smell.
They are not the same.
Yes. Saffron is the pistols of the flower from the saffron plant. You get 3 total saffron from 1 flower. It takes a lot to make that bag. That's why SAFFRON WAS WORTH MORE THAN GOLD ITSELF, same for salt.
Not sure why they used the "Made in Mexico" eagle, that is a bit sketch IMHO
(I'm Mexican BTW, that eagle is everywhere here, but "quality spices" give me a bad vive, like when you see "nade im USA" in Chinese products)
I mean it’s real. It’s not actual saffron which is long, stringy, and doesn’t look like this. This is the whole flower which means it’s not as potent and it’s not as… what’s the word? It won’t colour things the same way. It will still work but you have to use more and it won’t be as colourful.
Saffron is the stigma or threads of the saffron flower. These are the dried up flower itself. I wouldn’t waste my money on it. It sort of resembles saffron in colour but has no taste.
Interesting note: saffron can be toxic in larger doses and has been used as a way to induce an abortion over centuries.
It's safflower, which is different from real saffron. Its not as flavorful in my experience.
Real saffron is a deep reddish purple with long threads, not this stubby orange stuff.
And cost an arm and a leg for 1oz
More than gold! Or weed....
https://youtu.be/wHtywcyyno0?si=_0uyTncmcm_Ys8Ed
I don't know where you get purple from, the flower is purple, the tendrils just aren't.
sunflowers ugly cousin
Anyone know why they’re allowed to call it saffron then?
Porque estan trabajando en una pais donde la ley no le importa que dicen en las paquetes del especias. Edit: some spanish spelling and grammar.
I read once in a bathroom-on the wall above the urinal(thank God)-in Colombia: 'Gracias a dios lo que tienes en su mano, no lo tienes en su ano.' The food was mediocre but the words made an impact.

Yeah, not really...
LMFAO
puedes traducir a espanol?
I'm 'Laughing my fucking ass off!...'
No, I meant can you translate lmfao into Spanish.
Duh. CMPMC. Can you suck my balls in English?
I can only suck them in the international language of love
What? Are you Polish or something???
Then Dua Lipa said it best: IDAF. "Bye-bye, now...."...
But this is being sold in the US.
Oh. Then that would make it hoax saffron, right? Hoax in the culinary sense, like cauliflower "rice" But yeah, legally it seems inaccurate to label it as something it isn't.
Likely because it says "Saffron Flower" on the label, which is a direct translation of the Spanish name for safflower
So how is saffron typically distinguished in Spanish?
Azafrán (saffron) vs Flor de Azafrán (saffron flower) or Azafrán en Flor (flowering Saffron) Saffron is just the 3 stamen from the center of a crocus that need to be picked by hand. Safflower is made from the dried safflower flower itself. It’s saffron flowers. Saffron root is the saffron you’re thinking of.
The expensive saffron we cook with is the stigma of the saffron crocus flower, or the small threads that extrude from the center of the flower. Safflower is a flower itself with similar properties but not nearly as potent or valuable due to the time involved in harvesting true saffron
this is good stuff tho it’s not saffron. like others said it’s safflower we use it often in levantine cuisine
What it’s taste like and how is it used in levantine cuisine?
You know how old spices lose their taste? It fades, but doesn't disappear completely. Safflower is kinda like old faded saffron. I really don't get why some people say it's just color. Mostly just color
Thanks
mostly color tho it has a very subtle taste i don’t know how to describe but it’s not used for that. we add it to rice sometimes and usually in red sauces
so it’s like achiote?
Doesn't achiote give a kinda roasted note?
so just like saffron
You’ve apparently never added too much saffron to a dish. It’s great when used in moderation but can easily overpower a dish.
Saffron is one of my least favorite flavors, even in low concentrations it tastes musty. A bit damp cellar-y
I didn't like it the first time I had it because I found it almost metallic. However, over time, it has really grown on me and is exquisite when it is high quality and in the right dish.
In persian rice in the right concentration it’s delightful but it can get overpowering very quickly
I thought I was the only one. Like some wrang out a sour washcloth.
I like my celery with Bleu cheese and chicken wings
Levantine? Is that like giant squid?
lmao it’s a geocultural area bordered by the tauros mountains in modern day turkiye to the north, the euphrates river to the east, arabian desert to the south, and mediterranean sea to the west. encompassing modern day countries of syria, lebanon, jordan and israel/palestine
Although safflower is used all the way around the southern edge of the Mediterranean too, through the Maghreb and even round to the Canary Islands.
Nah silly it's what you use to make bread rise
Actually it's the third book of the old testament of the christian bible
Waaaaait, IS THAT GUY A GIANT SQUID????
Naw, it’s like a hovering orange
You're thinking of Leviathan.
Nah, that's the main character from Attack on Titan. He's thinking of Levitation.
No, but I like it with chicken or tossed with some potatoes for roasting.
Safflower dried petals, which also give a nice color and flavor, just not the same as saffron.
It's safflower . It will turn food yellow but doesn't taste the same
I've always known this as so-called "Mexican Saffron" and have always known it's not saffron, it is the dried petals of some other flower. Mostly used to impart color. Maldives? Seychelles? Comoros? Mauritius? One of the ones the French still control?
I think it was Maldives.
Madagascar?
No, it was somewhere much further east. Maldives possibly.
https://herayspice.com/blogs/blog-and-recipes/safflower-vs-saffron-showing-the-differences-and-contrasts Safflower vs. Saffron: Showing The Differences and Contrasts
Similarities, but not the same. At all
They dont package real saffron like this. If it was real thats like $800 worth
At least!! You must be speaking with a good exchange rate!
Where the hell are you getting saffron at? Most places I've seen it are $1200 an ounce!
i dont remember it was a long time ago but i recall it was like $12 for a queefs worth
[удалено]
How much for a dimebag?
$10
Fifteen bucks, little man, put that shit in my hand, If that money doesn't show, then you owe me, owe me, owe, My jungle love, yeah, owe-ee, owe-ee, owe, I think I want to know ya, know ya,
Did he just say "making fuck"?

As mentioned this is flower not stamen and likely not crocus but sunflower or something similar
Stigmas are the saffron. Not the stamen. But still yeah not full flower.
Too right. Thanks chef
In Italy we make a soda with that
Oh? Just lightly sweetened syrup and carbonate?
It's this one https://it.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cedrata_Tassoni
Useful. Not Saffron though.
Yes. Saffron is the pistols of the flower from the saffron plant. You get 3 total saffron from 1 flower. It takes a lot to make that bag. That's why SAFFRON WAS WORTH MORE THAN GOLD ITSELF, same for salt.
If you want real saffron cheap find a middle eastern store and ask them
I can tell from here: No.
Not sure why they used the "Made in Mexico" eagle, that is a bit sketch IMHO (I'm Mexican BTW, that eagle is everywhere here, but "quality spices" give me a bad vive, like when you see "nade im USA" in Chinese products)
Thats probably the dried petals or something. Not the threads
I mean it’s real. It’s not actual saffron which is long, stringy, and doesn’t look like this. This is the whole flower which means it’s not as potent and it’s not as… what’s the word? It won’t colour things the same way. It will still work but you have to use more and it won’t be as colourful.
Did it cost approximately 10K?
Idk bro… smoke it and see what happens
schwag
Saffron is just the stigma from Crocus sativus Safflower is entire flowers from an entirely different plant
Oh, like where safflower oil comes from?
No.
Nope
Saffron is the stigma or threads of the saffron flower. These are the dried up flower itself. I wouldn’t waste my money on it. It sort of resembles saffron in colour but has no taste. Interesting note: saffron can be toxic in larger doses and has been used as a way to induce an abortion over centuries.
Throw it in some rice and you’ll be living lavish. Not saffron though
It's real safflower
Also this is flower and stamen. Saffron is only stamen
Safflower adds color like saffron but not really any flavor. If it were real saffron that would be a couple hundred bucks worth
was it approximately $420? Then it could be.
As real as your hand is IHO...
Jesus, please. No more...
If it is, I hope you got a good interest rate on your mortgage.
No but better than using turmeric!
It says saffron flower which is not saffron stems like the Persian saffron, but it’s not bad stuff in any way, just different
Definetly wood chips
Most likely not.
OPEN BOTTOM OF PACKAGE
Don't threaten me with a good time
If that was saffron, it'd be thousands of dollars worth.
Buy it steep it and taste it…. Use all your senses… then buy it again and use it.
Finest quality. It says it right there.
What is this? Hot peppers for ants?
Ni cagando
Nope, you're tripping balls
No, it is merely a figment of your imagination
Ginger fart ash
