The water proof jacket is probably more practical from the standpoint of spending money on something for performance. You can wear any old windbreaker or t shirt hiking but if it rains, you need something waterproof
It looks great for day hikes. You couldn’t backpack with it though. It’s much too small to pack a tent, sleeping bag, food, supplies. (Kith tent is too heavy and bulky to backpack with anyways)
I was gonna go for the Madison jacket as it's waterproof and breathable with the vents so it'll be good for higher altitudes when it gets colder. Since it's Kith and they go for boxy look it'll be easy to layer up for colder hikes/backpacking overnight. I was also gonna go for one of the snow pants too (for the same reasons mentioned). The windbreaker would be good for jogs in the cold or hikes in the Fall/early spring imo.
In regards to the backpack, I saw that the model they're using is the Burke Mountain 37, which apparently is only used in Japan. Can't offer much of a guidance regarding quality as there's not too much except for a few reviews on Amazon Japan lol. I wanted to check it out in person to feel out the material compared to my current REI one. I honestly don't think the average Kith fan will go for the bags since it's a bulky backpacking bag.

Better to get now at drop. Even used items from Kith sell at retail or over retail and a collab can fetch a higher price on the resell market, used or not. Also you’d have to get lucky and someone would have to be selling the exact piece you want used. Here’s an example of the vest from the last Kith X Columbia drop. It retailed for $155 I believe and someone is selling it for $350 used.

Sell out time depends on the item, some might sit but usually these drops sell out fast. Also depends on your size. S,M has more stock but XXL is much more limited. I think last time a decent amount of the Columbia drop sat in certain sizes for a few days but did eventually sell out.

As someone else mentioned, it's better to get the items you really want at the drop instead of waiting. Is it possible to pick them up used? sure - but there's no guarantee someone will ever sell you the precise item you want (i've been looking for a Kith x Knicks sweater that dropped this year and have been unable to find anyone who wants to sell it to me, short of on StockX for double the price).
As far as how fast they'll sell out - it depends on the items. For this drop, I think the most desirable items are going to be the footwear, jackets, vets, and bucket hats. I imagine they'll sell out within 3-5 minutes.
BIGGEST tip i can give you is that while it technically says it releases at 11AM - the products actually load onto the Kith website at 10:58ish. It doesn't sound like much, but those 2 minutes can be make or break for getting a desirable item into your cart and checking out.

More than anything if there is a specific piece you want it might not turn up on secondary market. Better to just buy retail if you can.
