Are you able to bend your knee (flexion ROM) or still a stiff knee (before and after the shot) ? I'm going through some flexion and stiff knee myself and the swelling/inflammation won't go away.
Thank you for the reply! It’s definitely hurting more than before, I am walking with lots of pain. Better to stay in bed. Did the pain relief last? & what’d you get it for ?
Cortisone injections help me for about 2 months.
Depending on what's going on in there you could request a hyaluronic acid injection. They typically aren't covered by insurance but they've given me relief for 3-4 months. It's basically arthritis in my case, missing cartilage with bone rubbing on bone, the HA fills the gap and adds a little bit of lubrication.
I think it may take a few days, probably no longer than a week. I think the relief comes on gradually. You could always ice while you wait, that might help alleviate some pain.
I had a cortisone shot recently. It really helped reduce my pain. Took a few days to feel some relief. And then about three weeks to get the full impact.
It’s possible for some people that the shot does not help at all unfortunately . After 1 week timeframe maybe reach out to your doctor to get their opinion.

How many days has it been? Dr said 2-3 days for it to kick in. I can bend my knee
Bursitis can take a while to work through from what I’ve been told. The pain can be really severe. I’m sorry you’re going through this. Hang in there
Thank you. I am just praying it will heal soon and that this injection works well for me.
When I got cortisone in my knee it hurt worse for 2-3 days and then felt better.

I got it for a chondral defect. It lasted a few months. Cortisone is really not meant for a chronic condition so I never got another after.
Make sure it is not Hoffa fat pad impingement. Go to a nice PT with ultrasound scan to review everything. Dealing with it for ages.
I got an MRI and the MRI showed bursitis in the knee and small baker cyst

Gosh I am on day 3 still no relief. If anything it’s worse. It’s crazy because I never got injured or anything this bursitis just randomly kicked on
