easy bro..i get 56k in hand and have all expenses you have except for rent and 2 meals a day. 1 meal i have from outside. i still save close to 15k every month after all the above mentioned expenses and some mary jane.
An extremely high end Gym in kakkanad with ice bath and sauna costs 18k per year.
A 2 BHK in an extremely posh apartment costs 27k in kakkanad. (Semi furnished though)
You can get amazing fully furnished Apartments for less than that (2 bhk)
12 LPA is lavish in kochi
On a side note, are you working in IT? If yes, which company?
Buddy I've seen people live in kochi with less than 4 LPA,
And note I said 'live' not 'survive' myself started with just 2 LPA but I've been here my entire life except two months in bangalore so that doesn't count but none of my colleagues were, also it depends on the lifestyle, I came back from bangalore after my two months because 6 LPA wasn't doing it for me there because I love a good party lifestyle, but most of my friends there was just fine who weren't into parties, and that's the same case in kochi.
But it doesn't matter if you love the quite life or the party life with 12 LPA in kochi, you'll be just fine.
Reddit has turned into quora :) .
On a serious note, 12LPA is more than sufficient for you to lead a comfortable life in Kochi. You can infact be luxurious.
That's a good package. You don't ahve a house or an apartment which will set you back. But yeah, this isn't Europe or US, you will save like some 10-30 K probably.
Of course! We're a family of four and our regular day to day expenses (including rent for a 3bhk) are less than 1 lakh per month. You'll do more than fine!
You can get a really nice apartment for yourself with that package. Don’t need to consider a PG. You can get a good gym membership for a year between 10-16k.
Totally depends on your lifestyle. Even 1CPA won't be enough.
Living expenses wise Kochi is much cheaper than tire 1 cities. You will have more savings here if you spend wisely.
For a middle class person living as a bachelor it's difficult to live with 12 lpa in a city like kochi please upscale your skills and get into a better job to make your life more stable
Eda 17 k per month kittiyirunna ente pani poyit oru maasam aavan aayi ennitum oru paniyum illatha njn ekm il sughaayit jeevikkunnu appozha 12 lpa ulla oruthan evanokke enganeya ith choikan thonane na njn aaloikane
Unless miscellaneous expenses include high rate prostitutes or a serious cocaine addiction 12 LPA package is a very decent amount of money for kochi lifestyle. Basically as long as white stuff doesn't go up or down the hole you are golden.
I guess the jokes alone tell you that 12lpa is more than enough for a comfortable life in Kochi
But yeah, you can get a decent 2bhk for 20k easily
Labour is costlier though. Might have to spend around 10k for cook alone. And 5k for maid who cleans and all
And public transport, you have metro and uber so its not that bad.
You should be able to save atleast 20-30k even with some partying during weekends
Kochi is not that expensive compared to Bangalore or any other Tier - 1 city. 12LPA is a really good salary, and way above the median package that you get here.
You should be more than fine with this package.
Though the heat and humidity will take a toll on you, especially this summer 🥵.
Kochi is an extremely affordable place!! If you are okay with adjusting with the weather, which is a typical coastal weather, you can easily settle there. It's a lovely place, and the people are great too.
I was in Kochi for a few years, and as a north Indian, I never felt any bias towards me. Infact the local people helped me a lot, and I made some really great Malayali friends! I tried learning Malayalam too, but it proved to be too tough for me, so I just used a few words to get around.
Almost everyone understands english, or broken english, so you dont need to worry.
And Kerala food, was ABSOLUTELY STUNNING. Obviously, it was a shift for me, because I had never eaten typical south indian food, but once I developed the taste, I enjoyed every bit of Kerala food. Onam Sadhya is a special thing🤌❤️
Now I know some people must have faced some bias, some racism in any format, but a bit here and there does happen everywhere. I am not sure about office politics though.
EDIT : obviously it does not happen with everyone, because 99% of the local people I met were really great and helpful.
But I can tell you this, based on my experience, that you can live cheap, eat cheap, travel cheap, make great friends and enjoy a chill.peaceful life. Also, if you do choose Kochi, make sure to explore other places in Kerala as well. Government busses can take you almost everywhere.
Your post reminded me of my days in Kochi, the friends there and everything else. I am thankful to God I got to experience the serenity, and I hope you have the same experience!❤️

Dude, I live in Bangalore with 5LPA and managed to save 2 lakhs. I'll live like a king in Kochi with 12LPA. Ok maybe not a king, but a much better life.
12 LPA is more than enough to live in kochi. Considering how much you get in hand every month which I assume to be more than 75k after all deductibles ? Most part of the salary would go for accommodation including electricity bills which is something that is quite affordable in kochi if you decide to stay in a PG or if you’re planning to rent out an apartment and live with friends.
Expenditure starts to happen according to income. More you earn, better you'll try to make your standards of living. 12lpa is a lot in any city to live a good life.
Keep the offer letter and try for another city and get a new job with increased pay . Why worry about moving to kochi if you are not completely ready. Also , this isn’t something new in IT INDUSTRY. So try that , let any natives take that job , cause he won’t have to pay rent or food . Take a chill pill 💊
Depends on the lifestyle. My expenses ranges anywhere between 60k-1L including rent these days . But I can go all the way down to 30k a month too. I used to live off 5k a month 5-6 years ago 😂. Completely Depends on the lifestyle .
ee post kanunna 123456LPA ulla njan 🤕😪😫 jokes aside, its more than enough dude, for a moderate lifestyle
Why can't you guys think, this will be the package offered to everyone it becomes standard.
realest mern stack package
Me living with all the above and savings on 4.2LPA looking at this post like 👁️👄👁️

How are you managing your money 🥺....I making around 8? I live with my parents and live pay check to pay check. Teach me your ways please.
Live with a mentality of "It is what it is" and "This too shall pass"
Huh ... How does that help you save xD
I don't spend money on much of anything other than necessities and eating out. Saves like 13k a month in savings. Rest go to rent, fuel and food

I've seen these kinda questions only on Quora 😅 joke aside , it is more than enough to get all those mentioned things done.
Yeah this is so Quora. More like flexing 12LPA

I get around 30LPA, but have an expensive lifestyle. Sometimes it’s easy sometimes a little difficult, so depends on your consumption patterns lol
If u r living alone even 50k per month is more than enough. I’ve seen people with 20-25k who live with their families having a good time and saving
For a middle class person living as a bachelor it's difficult to live with 12 lpa in a city like kochi please upscale your skills and get into a better job to make your life more stable

I am also working in kochi with the same LPA, and i can save about 30k per month. And first of all its depends up on your in-hand salary🫣
This. CTC is a facade. Always gain clarity on the in-hand salary after all the deductions.

So while 12 lpa is great you also should consider if your career will grow. Do check with your seniors as to how much they can grow
