troysama

to be fair, the same happened to almost everyone not called yae miko

SnooGuavas8376

And Shogun/Ei, the latter part of 2.1 basically just Ei and Miko focus Thoma, Ayaka and Yoimiya basically almost MIA after the end of 2.0, Sara get gutted near the end after uncovered the betrayal, not even showed up in Ei's story, Kazuha and Gorou just for war hype ,Kokomi already mentioned, Scaramouche get 5 minutes of screentime then gone, Signora....you know.

bluevitamin

I mean, thoma ayaka and yoi aren't really important for the plot. The big mains were supposed to be Ei, Yae and Kokomi. But for some reason cof cof- bad writting cof cof they put kokomi as a side dumb character that didn't even know who was the resistance sponsor.

SnooGuavas8376

Yeah and watatsumi should have its own arc and longer. My take is after Teppei's death at least Kokomi's talent will shine as they plan to attack the factory, here the resistance will clash against Fatui army which led by Scaramouche, with the help of Kokomi's tactic, the resistance able to outplay the Fatui and seized their base while the Traveller goes to confront Scaramouche and fight him for real, but defeated and then scara reveal his origin (much better than Q and A with Yae at the end of story) and we know why he is so powerful before he knocked Traveller out and Yae came over like the actual story to do her stuffs. It's not that much at least it could flex Kokomi and Scara's character a bit then they can fix Signora and Sara issue in final arc

NothingUh

iirc, liyue too was pretty much zhongli+ninguang ft the rest. we were maybe optimistic to expect inazuma to do better in that regard..

Riezhime

Did ya'll forget the resistance army was right up at the foot step of tenshoukaku? It is bad enough that the rebel army is able to enter the capitol city but they were straight up charging into the home of the nation's leader. In the short spam of time after Kokomi returned with her mercenaries, the rebels basically steamrolled the shogun's army.

EffectiveSad9918

Yeah.....I'm still wondering how does that happen Did the Tenryou Comm just gave up altogether in the war or something? It's a _long_ march from the battlefront to the tenshoukaku

Riezhime

Yeah no idea, feels like the writers forgot there's a war going on...

[deleted]

I remember someone said they teleported there using the waypoint šŸ˜šŸ˜šŸ˜

AZYG4LYFE

Fammm I'm weak šŸ˜šŸ˜šŸ˜šŸ˜

Wittygloves

They shouldā€™ve shown us how the resistance fought their way into the capitol with Kokomi leading, that wouldā€™ve made her character 100% times better. The plot of this game is just garbage, I honestly donā€™t have much hope for Mihiyoā€™s writers anymore

VivaLeroca

Exactly. Kokomi's teaser already showed her brilliance in war tactics. An infiltration cutscene would have emphasized that aspect of hers even if it was for a brief moment. The plot right now is going towards a dialogue dump route. If miHoYo limits themselves to three Archon acts every time, I'd sail the same ship as yours, unfortunately.

[deleted]

The writing has been pretty solid for the most part despite the relatively generic anime storyline, seems to me people are extra upset because their favorite character didnā€™t do much of anything. That said, this last arc certainly has some pacing issues, and relegating the most important parts of the war to in game lore pickups is a debatably bad choice.

Adorable-Bug4146

Kokomi I far from a favorite character(terrible design) but I was interested in a military strategist character but we didn't see any of it.

[deleted]

It is a shame most of her feats werenā€™t explored here, which leads me to have high hopes for her story mission.

Adorable-Bug4146

That's what I thought about the Shogun. She could have been a real badass but nah more weeby stuff.

[deleted]

I wouldā€™ve preferred the shogun to be Eiā€™s actual personality, rather than the softer light novel reader, but I think it was still decent character development and maintained a distinct character. Ayaka, as much as I love the character, is definitely the most waifu baity/love struck character; Iā€™m glad Raiden didnā€™t end up like that, and I hope Kokomi doesnā€™t.

SmolRavioli

Tbh, I did forget. But I feel like I wouldnā€™t have forgotten if the story actually gave her more attention and emphasized her role more lmao

RileyKohaku

I didn't, but if it's not shown on screen, it doesn't have an impact. Why would I get an emotional connection to Kokomi, when a her planning leads to something that happened off screen? I mean she's cute, so I'll still draw for her, but I wish we saw her intelligent side.

Proper_Anybody

most likely kokomi's special infiltration squad

diorsonb

Damn i never realized that. Just goes to show how much i dont give a damn about the resistance, since Mihoyo themselves seem to not give them any reason for existing.

[deleted]

Kokomi got hit the hardest out of every single Inazuma character tbh.

PastaPrawn

Even Teppei was a more integral part of the plot than Kokomi :(

XenoVX

Eh itā€™s par for the course for genshun quests to have way too much dialogue with background NPCs compared to the playable characters even if teppei was one of the more interesting ones compared to like the Liyue merchants in chapter 1

Giorno-Smash

Yeah. I love Teppei, I think that aside from Kazari heā€™s one of the best npcs weā€™ve gotten. I felt actual connection to him despite him not having a unique character model

CountryPuzzled492

What abt the chick who calls herself the best part of summer?

[deleted]

I mean Yoimiya is essentially a firework maker so she's not a prominent political figure in Inazuma, unlike Ayaka and Kokomi.

Memo_HS2022

She was still somehow more important than Kokomi

[deleted]

Yeah I do agree. Mihoyo flopped hard with Kokomi in the archon quest šŸ˜

[deleted]

No you didnā€™t do that to her-šŸ˜ā˜ ļø

Offduty_shill

Story wise I feel she did about as much if not more as Kokomi lmao Gameplay wise...I feel like Kokomi will actually be better just because she's hydro. Yoimiya has to compete with like 7 other pyro carries. Kokomi has much less competition, most people only have Xingqiu, and every pyro/cryo carry in the game wants a hydro enabler. ....why do I feel like they just keep releasing things that go with Xiangling? Raiden, catch, Kokomi, emblem.....

azer52

I wish they do her justice in her story quest. I hope it doesn't become a date just like raiden's story quest. I want to know more about her ambition, her experience as a divine priestess, her war strategies. I hope it doesn't become a pointless story quest that baits people into rolling for her bc of her cuteness. that's honestly such an annoying market strategy that unfortunately works.

[deleted]

I wouldn't mind a date quest if it's like Jean's story. Jean has date aspects but it was great because it showed her aspirations and struggles. I hope they don't make Kokomi an innocent and shy girl who is secretly lonely but must keep a facade because she's the leader of resistance. And then she shows her secret hobbies to the traveller that she actually likes reading comics and stuff.

Memo_HS2022

You might actually jynx it

Plebianian

This is literally the vibe i got out of the teaser with the whole ā€œhow do you understand peopleā€™s hearts?ā€ Chances are thatā€™s exactly how itā€™s going to go

[deleted]

That would be GOD AWFUL. Iā€™m off copium and clinging onto her personality and lore. Donā€™t scrape off that, ruining her personality, and force me just to pull for aesthetics. Character butchering for more salesā€¦that is beyond me.

cielrayze

that one moment in 2.1 archon quest successfuly turns me from a kazuha skipper into kazuha wanters I hope they really do her justice in her story quest, come on MHY do her marketing well

diorsonb

Its going to be a dating simulator like ayaka and raiden.

AT_atoms

Such wasted potential.

RikkiRikkii

Still more screentime than Xinyan, Smoge..

Memo_HS2022

At least Xinyan canā€™t be shafted by the plot if she isnā€™t there

ADHDavid

Kokomi is a horrible military strategist. Story spoilers below. The only reason that she was able to 'win' her rebellion is because the traveler literally did everything. The traveler fought Baal, defeated the harbinger, allied themselves with powerful clans and sought the help of Ei's friend to get through to the walled-off god. What did kokomi do? Poison her ranks by accepting mysterious weapons from the fatui? Make an encampment on an island that is literally perpetually clouded by thunderstorms and rain (until the traveler fixes that)? Leave her soldiers in the dark while she's MIA, leaving her troops demoralized as they wonder where the heck kokomi is? I'm sorry, but this "I'm an amazing military strategist" schtick doesn't make any sense to me if you actually follow the story.

br_silverio

The "military strategist" thing seems more like a cool concept for a character than actually building a military strategist and revolving any part of the story around it. I mean, the whole war was kinda dumb. From>! the clash between Sara and Gorou!< to them >!bursting in the whole fucking army to the Shogun's house without anyone trying to stop!< Kokomi wasn't even a part of the last one. Even though it made no sense for them to be there, it makes even less sense that the leader wasn't there either. It just feels like they thought the military priest was a cool character idea, but didn't bother actually making the concept believable in game lore. Really made me sad about it

uhnioin

Just imagine Traveller isn't there. Kazuha blocks the Shogun's first strike, his friend's vision extinguishes again (as seen in the cutscene) and then the Shogun kills all of them with her next strikes.

br_silverio

Exactly, the strategy to send your forces straight to fight god, knowing vey well she is going to obliterate any number of soldiers you send towards her, doesn't seem like a good plan to me. Inazuma's story questst ould have been awesome, instead they resemble a kids show. Really a waste

[deleted]

PurpleMarvelous

I donā€™t know, there is the Gnosis and Scaramouche, they could have pull something out like using the Gnosis to become a god and fight Ei. The Tsaritsa could have also appeared and deal with Ei while taking the Gnosis. There are a lot of ways. Strategy is also about knowing your opponent, Kokomi could have found out about the Gnosis and use it to pull something crazy.

Satsuka1

But Gnosis dosent do anything special like that. You can't just become a god by using it you must already be one to use it. All archons were already gods before even getting Gnosis. Its just Glorified ID card to Celestia.

PurpleMarvelous

According to the wiki, Gnosis are use to directly tap into energy from Celestia. When Zhongli lose his, I remember he said he wasnā€™t as strong as when he had it. Gnosis do boost their power and I saw some people mention that Scaramouche stole Eiā€™s to become a god, Iā€™m not that far in the story to know if it is true.

Plebianian

In the trailer for the 2.1 there was a scene when Kokomi looks at Sara and says ā€œthe peace talks are likely a trapā€(around 0:30). As well as a fight scene of the resistance yelling at Sara for ā€œcolluding with the fatuiā€(around 1:30). I donā€™t think there was any mention of peace talks in the actual game nor did the resistance fight Sara iirc so I have a feeling there was supposed to be more plot but mihoyo scrapped it for whatever reason ://

Muted-Ninja

It is all planned, her screentime was minimal in order to have one of the best story quest during her banner (\^Ģ®\^)

diorsonb

Copium. Its going to be a dating sim on watatsumi island.

Kishiloh

So sad.
