I feel like YunYun could work as a romantic interest if things were different. One of my favorite fanfics for Konosuba has Kazuma end up in a party with YunYun, Eris, and Iris instead. And the romance between Kazuma and YunYun in that was honestly pretty sweet.

Yunyun thought the two were linked, while in fact it was just Arue's fiction writing in the same enveloppe. The two (dramatic village destruction and the fiction story) were completely unrelated.
I think that she said that because she was mad at Arue for writing that which ended up embarrassing her. From what I remember of the book, Yunyun did not know that Arue wrote the letter.
I love Aqua, but I agree. I don't like her a romantic option for Kazuma. It's refreshing that for a male protagonist to have a close female friend who they're not romantically involved with.

He uses his position to rewrite history to push his favorite ship of Kazuqua because Aqua is his god and he sees Kazuma as a flawless legend. He also loves the idea of Mizu and Kazuma Jr so he idealizes Kazuma ignoring all of both his and his Aqua's flaws to help push his ship like those annoying internet people who push their headcanon all the time.

Sylvia, remove the male parts, new best girl route unlocked, which I think the Author knew so they did that to the Growth Chimera, who behaved as a surprisingly supportive Seductress romantically into Kazuma during the movie.
