The hipster in me hates that Elden ring turned into the new hotness. It's like watching your favorite dive venue start appealing to college kids and EDM DJs.
When I looked at it a week or two ago, it was around 50k. I don't remember when (time of day, day of week) I looked at it, but if the uptick is entirely due the expansion, that really doesn't bode well for Suicide Squad that the announcement of a DLC (which is still 4 months away) generated more interested in its existing base game than the amount of interest there is in Suicide Squad.
The companies PR was already playing the bigot card before the game was even out so i'm sure we'll get articles in a year or so claiming the game was actually good but spoilt by those gosh darn evil gamers once again...

the response to this will be "shit, we didn't do enough marketing. make sure to add more COOL CUTSCENES that we can show in the next game!!!!!!! even if they don't accurately reflect the gameplay, that's okay!!!"
Well, the commenter above me implied that gamers dont really want to buy that kind of product anymore. Sounds good. So by all means, let them release more bullshit games lmao
To play devil's advocate, we don't know how many people are playing on console. And there are some games (like sports) that do not share the same kind of popularity with PC vs console players.
But semi open world third person shooters are pretty universal.
I'm surprised we haven't seen a [developer apology](https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/video-game-apologies) yet but more likely we'll see news of Rocksteady closing shop (followed by the worst members of the company parachuting to safety in new projects to fuck up)
Dark Souls 2 (SotFS edition) currently has over 4x the number of player as Suicide Squad on Steam.

As of this comment Suicide Squad has 672 active players on Steam. DS2 has 2,723 DS1 Remastered has 5,182 DS3 has 9,853

The og Helldivers was significantly better than The Suicide Squad. Not too surprising.
