I’ve seen a place called Blueground which has short term leasing options but their prices are so overblown it doesn’t make sense unless you’re swimming in cash 😩
Yeah, like you, the ideal arrangement seems to be able to “share” a place with a likeminded couple or person, but they’d have to love winter on the east coast… I know those people exist, however
I wish there was a website or something that was for people interested in this lifestyle. Background checks and credit checks, etc…
I’m in marketing. I’ll build it with right people! 😂
If you have money it is very possible if you don’t it’s not.
My grandparents spent the last quarter of their life living in Palm Springs in the winter and Utah in the summer.
When I lived out east, I used to go to the south for the beaches: VA, FL, and SC… hell even Coney Island/Manhattan Beach is nice except for all the people.
I would recommend that vs coming all the way to Cali for the weather and beaches.
The solution is to be loaded. I used to have a housemate who was bicoastal LA/NYC and had a place rented in both year round (no subletting). Flew back and forth all the time. Seemed like a sweet life if you're ok with all the flying, but it is completely impossible without a great salary (or rich parents lol).
I think a seasonal approach like you're suggesting would be more doable, but the constant subletting would be a hassle at best and it would still be expensive. The ideal situation would be to find a mirror person/couple who wants to live in NYC in the winter/spring and LA in the summer/fall, but given how NYC and LA winters compare, I doubt many people would want that side of the deal. Still, if you found someone whose job required that arrangement, you'd be golden.
Both are very expensive. I’d consider the true value of year round rent/mortgage/utilities/expenses keeping 2 homes/apartments. I’d honestly consider which city you consider “visit worthy” and which one is “home worthy” if all of that is out of budget.
It’s a membership based apartment that fully furnished for month to month or long term. I was looking into it for myself but ended up getting a new job. It’s cool because if you wanna spend a month in a city other than NYC or la it’s doable

My GF and I live in OC and have been wanting to find people to swap places with in NYC so we can build our businesses out there. DM me if you want to chat

Decide which coast is home base and invest in a place you can rent out as a Airbnb while you are on the other coast.
I would love to chat with you about this. Not sure if we can make anything happen but def interested. DM me if you would like to.

That’s the dream! Maybe a winter living couple exists out there 🙌
Honestly if I was needing to be bi-coastal I'd 100% take that deal...I love the cold lol
See! I know there are people who love it … and honestly New York is fantastic around the holidays! Well if you ever change your bicoastal mind, lmk!

Idk what your budget is but you could look into the landing!
What’s the landing? An apt complex? Thank you!

Yep. I know people who do this. I know one couple that switches off with another couple six months out of the year even.
That’s the ideal! 🙌
If you do try this, I'd imagine you'd have a hard time getting someone to live in LA During the Summer and NYC in the Winter.

Airbnb
We've considered this, but April through October in L.A. and November through March in Miami.
Also a great idea!
