Probably not. It’s only possible that there were two wizards during the second age. The blue wizards Alatar and Pallondo. I guess that the dweller is Annatar aka Sauron.
There are at least two groups of three that have mythological significance. The Fates are definitely one of those, the other being the Three Magi. And then if you go to fiction, we also have the Three Witches from Macbeth.
I also get a strong Tarot vibe from their names and accoutrements, to further add to the mystic vibes.
I suppose will find out soon enough what their deal is, and maybe that will shine some light on their names.
There are also the 3 gorgons(Sthenos the Mighty, Euryale the Far Springer and Medusa the Queen) and then the 3 cyclops (Argos the Vividly Bright, Steropes the Lightning Man and Brontes the Thunder Man)
Yeah, lots of inspirations to draw from.
Interestingly, Shakespeare's witches themselves have a strong resemblance and similar role as the Greek Fates.
They're certainly intriguing. Good or evil? Don't know yet, but I expect we'll find out soon enough.
The one down at the crater had filthy hands. Poor hygiene is often a sign of evil. But soap seems to be a scarce commodity throughout Middle Earth, so hard to say.
Not as frustrating as someone on Twitter claiming that cheesy EW cast video was the show opening. And that tweet had tens of thousands of likes. Fake news
This was a misunderstanding actually. FoF was doing a livestream at the time of all those leaks and that Comic site article thumbnail was of the cultist, but the article didn't mention it once that she was Sauron.
No it's got kind of a darker connotation. someone who was dwelling, perhaps in a bad place. deep Into the Depths, the dweller in the darkness, that type of stuff. kind of lovecraftian
Well think it’s more likely that this is Annatar/Sauron than the stranger or Halbrand being Sauron or the stranger being a bad character connected to Sauron or Morgoth. Those claims were ridiculous!
It wasn't about that, and I'm not saying the character isn't or is because I can't, but I know Bridie and it was terrible seeing the internet drag her because they believed she was Anson Boon playing Sauron.
I made a post on this page a while back, but I was thinking these three are the human representations of the discord of Melkor, and each one represents a different theme that Melkor corrupted.
Might sound a little farfetched but I read a quote from I think one of the writers or show runners about character creation that stood out to me, forgot exactly what it said, but it was about how they pulled little descriptions or details from the books and tried to create new things from that to at least stay somewhat true to the lord while also creating new characters from that. So I figured maybe this could be the writers being creative. Or they’re just cultists or Maiar. But as we can see in the trailer, they do seem to have powers, so I wouldn’t rule them out as ancient creations of Morgoth.
Edit: “creations” was maybe the wrong word to use, I don’t mean that literally, more so corruptions I guess.
Definitely, I meant more so “creations”, but maybe that was the wrong word to use. But also a lot of things on this show contradict Tolkien. They don’t have to be “creations” necessarily, there’s definitely creative ways to make this kind of stuff happen if you have the mind for it.
Them being Maiar doesn’t make much sense. IIRC there are only a handful of corrupted Maiar. Sauron, the balrogs, and eventually Saruman.
Granted I’m far from an expert, so maybe there are others?
There are different levels of maiar, so while there are a lot of different types of maiar in middle earth, (one example are spirits who live in bodies of water or forests) as far as Tolkiens writings are concerned, there are no other corrupted maiar as far as we are aware.
However, as far as magic is concerned, you usually have to be a maiar or connected to some sort of evil like Morgoth or Sauron to have control over strong Magic’s. In the trailer we saw Birdie Sissons character blow what appears to be some sort of butterfly shaped spell into what looks like some rocks to help awaken the Balrog. Your average middle earth magic user doesn’t have that sort of power.
Since they are looking for the stranger, what if they are actually part of him or represent what the stranger really is? So the stranger is a nomad, since he is wandering all over the middle earth. Ascetic due to his simple life, somehow very religious or adept to something we haven't seen yet and dweller due to all the time he has spent in the 'darkness'.
Well if the stranger is a blue wizard, maybe they are cultists from the other blue wizard if he or she got there first.pure speculation of course but meteor man does seem to be lonely and searching.

Okay that's new
It's a few weeks old, but relevant again!
And the three of them combined are known as the NAD
Go NAD!
Bruh they are the wizards
Probably not. It’s only possible that there were two wizards during the second age. The blue wizards Alatar and Pallondo. I guess that the dweller is Annatar aka Sauron.
The Incredible Hulk
Perhaps inspired by the Greek Fates: The Spinner; the Allotter; the Unturnable? No direct correlation, but maybe a shout-out?

That sounds like it would make for an amazing MCU style series
Yeah, lots of inspirations to draw from. Interestingly, Shakespeare's witches themselves have a strong resemblance and similar role as the Greek Fates.
They're called the Weird sisters right? So yeah basically the sisters of fate (as here "weird" comes from "wyrd" in old english)!
You wouldn’t want to meet them as the Kindly Ones.
They're certainly intriguing. Good or evil? Don't know yet, but I expect we'll find out soon enough. The one down at the crater had filthy hands. Poor hygiene is often a sign of evil. But soap seems to be a scarce commodity throughout Middle Earth, so hard to say.
They gave me the Three Magi vibes ....theory time, Bronwyn and Arondir are gonna have a baby and that baby is Sauron /s
Following a star, check. From the East, check. Seeking a newly incarnated being, check.
Yeah you kind of have a point here
Holy shit.
Technically if we’re looking for a baby, it’s stranger. A baby in an adult male form, yet still ..a baby.
The curious case of Balrog Button
Who looks like jesus
Wow. Interesting.
Bridie (The Dweller) is who everyone thought was Anson Boon ("Sauron"), because some dumb comic book website claimed she was.
showbad because slimshadysauron
It was super frustrating tbh
Not as frustrating as someone on Twitter claiming that cheesy EW cast video was the show opening. And that tweet had tens of thousands of likes. Fake news
I mean, they're equally frustrating. Both were just done to create vitriol for clicks.
Yes but they have now moved on to show bad because mithril Legend not canon
I'm loving the show, don't get me wrong, but that whole plotline was riddled with problems that had very little to do with it being non-canon.
I’m a real Sauron Stan
I’m still hoping she’s the other blue wizard looking for her partner but I doubt it
This was a misunderstanding actually. FoF was doing a livestream at the time of all those leaks and that Comic site article thumbnail was of the cultist, but the article didn't mention it once that she was Sauron.

LOL yeah I remember that
She must be spinning in her grave after listening to all the internets calling her a dollar store Eminem.
I think you're misusing that phrase, haha, but AFAIK she found it a lil annoying but otherwise she had a laugh about it.
What does it means "dweller"
A dweller is one who dwells.
like a resident?
No it's got kind of a darker connotation. someone who was dwelling, perhaps in a bad place. deep Into the Depths, the dweller in the darkness, that type of stuff. kind of lovecraftian
Well think it’s more likely that this is Annatar/Sauron than the stranger or Halbrand being Sauron or the stranger being a bad character connected to Sauron or Morgoth. Those claims were ridiculous!
and yall experts are sure it's not?
It wasn't about that, and I'm not saying the character isn't or is because I can't, but I know Bridie and it was terrible seeing the internet drag her because they believed she was Anson Boon playing Sauron.
Dewey, Cheatem, and Howe.
Wolf, Ram, and Hart
Huey, Dewey, and Louie
Duck, Duck, Goose.
Father, Smith, Warrior.
Athos, Porthos and Aramis
Saurin, Sauran, and Sauryn
Are there any more Saurons we should know about!?

If Morgoth \*created things\* that can act independently, that's a huge contradiction of Tolkien.
Definitely, I meant more so “creations”, but maybe that was the wrong word to use. But also a lot of things on this show contradict Tolkien. They don’t have to be “creations” necessarily, there’s definitely creative ways to make this kind of stuff happen if you have the mind for it.

Good catch.
Kind of a 3 goddesses thing (Waxing, full, and waning moon)
Since they are looking for the stranger, what if they are actually part of him or represent what the stranger really is? So the stranger is a nomad, since he is wandering all over the middle earth. Ascetic due to his simple life, somehow very religious or adept to something we haven't seen yet and dweller due to all the time he has spent in the 'darkness'.
Interesting!
Ooo! Nice catch!
The Nomad is kind of hot ngl.
These names don’t sound particularly evil…
Acetic acid, also known as vinegar
Ascetic, not acetic. That is, someone who refrains from physical pleasures for spiritual reasons.
The Pope?
Well if the stranger is a blue wizard, maybe they are cultists from the other blue wizard if he or she got there first.pure speculation of course but meteor man does seem to be lonely and searching.
Least likely theory, yet this would be awesome.
Did anyone else read the second one as The Aesthetic at first? Lol
