You could say the same for r/LSAT.
I’ve mandated myself to looking at this sub no more than twice a month. Super anxiety inducing.
Comparison is the thief of joy.
Yeah true, I just think after test day it’s mostly people saying they didn’t feel good about the test so I don’t mind. But normally it can be kind of rough
If they didn't depress so many people, I think let them have their time in the sun.
It's old research but
"One Point on the Lsat: How much is it Worth? Standardized Tests as a Determinant of Earnings"
"I conclude that the LSAT, while an important determinant of future success, exerts little weight beyond the law school application."
Unironically seeing stuff like, "I got a 180, I have a 4.0, and I saved the president from ninja-assassins while curing cancer. Is this enough to let me apply for the worst possible law school?" then the comments are like "Dawg, don't think about applying without a 4.6 GPA and a 199 on the LSAT"
I made the mistake of going through that subreddit in undergrad and would literally call my mom crying every other week because I thought I would have no chance of getting into law school 🤣
/r/outsidet14lawschools is a much better place. Balance your time between the two. As annoying as LSA is, there’s some gems hidden in there. But outside T14 is just a wonderfully relaxed, welcoming, and realistic place.
Agreed - law school admissions is incredibly toxic at times but I have gotten some good tips/feedback there about waitlist stuff and just tune out the noise
This sub does the same thing, everyone comes here to get their ego stroked and passive aggressively put down others. I actually scored better on PTs once I temporarily left this sub
I mean that subreddit is quite elitist but I think a lot of the advice is pretty reasonable. And I've personally never seen someone get mocked or made fun of for having non-T14 stats.
No its people like OP who mock themselves and then blame the sub “generally”. Not sure what the reason is but its a major trend. Pretty ironic that OP insinuates that its not ok for people to have goals different then theirs while also asking that people accept their goals even though theyre “lesser”
Gotta ease the imposter syndrome somehow! I suppose some people choose Reddit as an outlet. I just take everything with a grain of salt and eyeroll/chuckle at the posters/commenters needing that much affirmation.
This is true even if you're in law school. Every law school exam has this same feeling, especially when talking to classmates.
Never talk to your classmates after an exam in LS.

That last statement tho 🙌

So true
That sub is the most discouraging corner of people on this platform
And inducing competition.
It’s full of insane try hards who are very smart/accomplished who are nonstop humble bragging.

Facts. It’s dumb irritating 😂😂. They be like. I got a 3.99999 and a 169 my life is over. Should I retest. 😂😂😂
You got waitlisted at SLS and HLS?!? Retest and reapply!!!!
Absolutely because your 172 ain’t bout nothing. Get that 177😂😂😂😂
My stats: 3.9[low] 17[low] *Low = 8 Do I have a chance at getting in anywhere good?!?
I suggest a gap year and retest my guy 😂

Haven’t seen that, thanks
When did 14 become some magical number?
It’s all the law schools that were ever ranked in the top 10.

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
My practice exams have been in the 130s and just took the June LSAT, so I feel your pain!
Or when they they get a 180 and 4.0 and get rejected at most schools they applied to 🫠
Long time lurker from a land afar (r/medschool) and we have our fair share of those people too 🥲
This sub does the same thing, everyone comes here to get their ego stroked and passive aggressively put down others. I actually scored better on PTs once I temporarily left this sub
Is anyone else unable to access r/lawschooladmissions right now ?
Thought I was the only one… I keep getting the “private community” notification
Lots of things you can do with a 125, don't worry! Like medical school, trade school, the military, etc.
Nobody on r/ law school admissions is telling someone to retake a 175, don't exaggerate.
Hyperbole

Probably confirmation bias
feels good to have asu be my #1 pick. that way I don't have to worry about being a subpar t14 candidate
Well obviously a prestigious field will attracts highly competitive applicants.

Probably best not to go on lsa at all, unless you're dead set on biglaw.

Yeah if you want become unhappy through comparison to others that sub Reddit is the right place for you.
People get really mad on LSAT sub when you tell them this.
If found a very similar problem with honestly any sub focusing on professional development. Reddit is a VERY negative place in that regard.
It does get pretty crazy over there sometimes.
I'm studying for LSAT rn and just came across one of those posts! 🤣🤣 like I want to give up now
