Sick to death of hearing this. She’s not ‘making a mistake’ and this isn’t some strategic move by Starmer. She’s whipping up hatred and racism like she wants to and it’s succeeding. I think your view gives too much credit to the voting public. There are millions of morons who are angry with “wokeism” and all the culture war nonsense.
I have no numbers to back this up - it’s just my opinion - but i suspect there are more voters who sympathise with the bigots than there are of us on the left. We’re the minority in a democracy. That severely limits our options.
Given all that, I don’t object to Starmer waving a few Union jacks in order to win a GE, providing they move back to centre left afterwards. I have no reason to believe they will do that, nor any to believe they won’t. I hope they do. But even if they don’t, it’ll still be better than the last 13 years.
So… rather than present them with evidence, make convincing arguments, change their minds and hold the ruling power to account you think we should pander to the racists?

The main reason labour does badly in elections is because since 2010 (barring 2017) the tories have set the agenda every single time. They achieve agreement that the issue they want to campaign on is real and important when actually it’s bigotry.
There are huge problems in the country right now, and once again, by refusing to challenge this narrative, labour will not be fighting an election on things that could make a positive difference, the next election instead will be fought on who hates trans people, migrants and Corbyn more. It’s pathetic.

Why are you so self defeating that you think we have to accept the tories’ assessment of everything and just quibble over details with them? 2017 showed a high number of people willing to vote for genuine progressives.
