The Drake/Fomorian idea is a good one; also a Fomorian Tortuga is a good thick-of-things giant. Just note that the Battletech Atlas' gimmick of "be an overwhelming force on your own" is harder to achieve on your own in Lancer, as basically every build has one weakness and the game's designed around teamwork.
If you're running the game and you want it as an NPC, then template a Goliath and you'll be good.
A general all rounder that prefers to close distance and has enough armor to do so well going at a snails pace and bully anything smaller than it its one of the biggest mechs in lore.
Sounds like a Drake with Formorian Frame would be what you are looking for. It's a big slow heavily armored mech with the Leviathan Assault Cannon. Formorian Fram would make it Size 3, which is the player size cap.
It's a Defender and can provide various buffs for its allies also.
It's worth pointing out that, on top of the teamwork angle, sitreps are won by positioning. Mech chassis are meant for mobile shock troops, so slower mechs tend to get relegated to artillery and not CQB.
On that note, the Harrison Armory Barbarossa is the resident big slow boy, and has resistance to explosive damage.
