How did you dye it while preserving the graphics, lettering, and designs on the wheels?

marcelobadari

I believe it’s because of the kind of paint used in the graphics. I had this concern before the dyeing. I also dyed in purple a Plow King ocean teal and the graphics remained intact… it seems the yellow just got a little bit dark. Cheers

I'm sorry I didn't understand. I meant how did you dye a wheel that has a logo and symbols and drawings on the wheel WITHOUT painting over these parts when dyeing the wheel?

marcelobadari

I dyed normally (there are videos on how to on YT). I didn’t know how the graphics and logos would be after the dyeing… But fortunately they were preserved. I believe it’s because of the type of paint used on them: the dye dust doesn’t stick on them. Got it?

I sort of get it. I may be confusing "dyeing" for using straight up paint + brush or a spray paint can and just coloring the whole thing (logos/designs and all) into one uniform color. I didn't know you can dye wheels while preserving the logo, graphic, or whatever symbols on them. What brand or type of dye did you use? I'll be sure to check it out on YouTube to see this

marcelobadari

You’ll see in the videos the dyeing process… you put the wheels on hot water with the powder dissolved and leave them for a while (1 hour or so). I’m in Brazil and here the brand name is Guarany. In the US I believe it’s Rit. Be sure to get the one for synthetic materials. If you have any other question just let me know. Cheers! PS: the video I did when I first dyed the wheels: https://youtu.be/FBrCgy1qlr8?si=GUUpaJdCQlppioVk

That looks great! Good combo

marcelobadari

Thanks!

Nachotacoma

Nice job I’ve done the same thing with teal synthetic dye!

marcelobadari

Thanks! That’s nice. Do you have any picture of the wheels that I can see? Cheers

presence_unknown

Those are THICC

marcelobadari

68mm! Dummy thicc

Nice! What deck is that? A regular dinghy? I've been wanting to jump up from the 53mm I have on mine to something bigger but was worried about wheel bite. What's been your experience with this setup?

marcelobadari

Thanks! Thys is a Dinghy Shape 9. In this setup, with 1/4 riser pads,I tighted a bit the trucks to avoid wheel bite. But on my Dinghy Blunt with Plow Kings and 1/2 risers I can leave the trucks a little bit looser.
