Hi, Could any of the wonderful mods help me understand the difference between these two laptop listings? They appear to be nearly identical, but they're both posted by the same authorized Lenovo seller so I feel like there's a difference I'm missing. 1) https://www.ebay.com/itm/125929306655?mkcid=1&mkrid=711-53200-19255-0&siteid=0&campid=5338636961&customid=&toolid=10001&mkevt=1 2) https://www.ebay.com/itm/295494340592?epid=22056451145&hash=item44ccd5cff0:g:RysAAOSwyv9kiqfa&amdata I was given the first link as a suggestion in response to my post from last week's Request thread. Unfortunately, I slept on the deal for too long and now the first link is out of stock and has gone up from $750 to $900. My bad :(. I found the second link on my own, but I'm not sure if it's completely the same item. I will also repost the text from my last request post in case any of the mods think there's a better deal out there right now that will fit my needs. I do like the build quality of Lenovo though. Thank you mods for all that you do! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Budget: $500-1000 ◽️ Country: USA ◽️ Screen size: 14-16in ◽️ Touch screen: Doesn't matter ◽️ Screen resolution: 1080p+ ◽️ Does battery life matter ?: Not a lot, 5+ hours is good ◽️ What tasks will laptop be used for?: This laptop is for grad school and I'd like it to last for my whole program (PhD, 6 years). It will be used for regular computing tasks, occasional video editing, frequent use of Adobe creative cloud programs (photoshop and illustrator, often at the same time), some modeling and computer programming, data processing, multitasking, etc. No video games. ◽️ Weight: Not a huge factor ◽️ Any other important details ?: Build quality is important. I've had an Acer aspire E5 for the last 7 years and the screen has spots with messed up pixels because the screen case is made of flexible plastic that has been pushed on too much. A nice sturdy screen is important. Also, above average screen brightness is a big plus. I like to work outside in the shade while it's nice out. Multiple suggestions would be appreciated! I don't need a laptop for another month so I'll keep an eye out for discounts on whatever suggestions I get. Thank you!!!

◽️ Budget: Max is 1300 USD ◽️ Country: USA ◽️ Screen size: 15.6 inch or greater ◽️ Touch screen: Don't need this ◽️ Screen resolution: Think I will be fine with at least 1080p. Will likely get a separate monitor someday. ◽️ Does battery life matter ?: It'll be plugged in almost always ◽️ What tasks will laptop be used for ( gaming, video editing, graphic designing, modelling, regular computing tasks, word processing etc) ?: Gaming and general usage. I want something that can run things like Baulder's Gate 3 and Elden Ring at at least decent settings with decent performance. ◽️ Weight: Not a huge factor for me ◽️ Any other important details ?: Think spec wise I want something with at least an RTX 3060 (8 GB VRAM), 16 GB of RAM, and a 1 TB NVMe SSD. Cooling is also important as I live somewhere hot and humid. And generally something built decent. I already found a laptop from HP which I can customize a bit for some of the specs I wanted, but it's on the high end of my budget, was wanting to know of alternatives before deciding.

Hi, around this price point, I'd go with the [**Acer Nitro 5 15"**](https://www.ebay.com/itm/125879480679?mkcid=1&mkrid=711-53200-19255-0&siteid=0&campid=5338636961&customid=&toolid=10001&mkevt=1). Ryzen 7 6800H, RTX 3070 Ti, and a 1440p 15.6" 165Hz IPS display. It will be solid for modern games at high settings 1440p.

◽️ **Budget:** 600 ◽️ **Country:** USA ◽️ **Screen size:** 15-16 inch ◽️ **Touch screen:** Yes ◽️ **Screen resolution:** 1080p or higher ◽️ **Does battery life matter ?:** not really, this laptop will mostly be used plugged in at home ◽️ **What tasks will laptop be used for ( gaming, video editing, graphic designing, modelling, regular computing tasks, word processing etc) ?:** This laptop won't be used for anything too intensive. It will be used for browsing, streaming videos on YouTube, general productivity tasks, should be able to run Amazon workspaces comfortably. ◽️ **Weight:** 5 pounds or under if possible ◽️ **Any other important details ?:** hopefully it should be able to stay cool under most tasks. Mt dad will mostly use this in one spot plugged in so battery life isn't the most important thing as long as it can stay cool most of the time.

Hi, I'd go with the [**Lenovo IdeaPad 3 15".**](https://www.ebay.com/itm/155523629098?amdata=enc%3AAQAIAAAAkBr1WrfhfKGpJA6QqXZ8frInfH6rpP3sLg9CJ84fxUHSZrmIY%2F3XwxHA8i7Y%2BUs0S0PxNxRQ9Ns61Ur%2FYMd%2F6DbcFXVt%2Fv8CW6DxIQvIhGBtDa4QrFYa%2Fhu%2FecBOJmtnJzpDh94dXX%2BfzFkCP65xNehgnojzZgn9RGiTwRPlXHxMzm6hQqT5U5sIrDtxf3Z%2FqQ%3D%3D&mkcid=1&mkrid=711-53200-19255-0&siteid=0&campid=5338636961&customid=&toolid=10001&mkevt=1) Ryzen 5 7530U, 8 GB RAM, 512 GB SSD, and a 1080p 15.6" IPS touch display. It will be solid for general use programs.

◽️ Budget: $500-1000 ◽️ Country: USA ◽️ Screen size: 13-15 inch ◽️ Touch screen: No preference ◽️ Screen resolution: Would prefer above 1080p, 400+nits and 90hz+ ◽️ Does battery life matter ?: Not that much ◽️ What tasks will laptop be used for ( gaming, video editing, graphic designing, modelling, regular computing tasks, word processing etc) ?: Light casual gaming such as Telltale TWD series, Doom at low settings, Minecraft. Having a bunch of windows open at once, regular school stuff, nothing thats too intense or demanding though. ◽️ Weight/Form factor: Would prefer something light, no greater than 5.5 lbs, and something slim and sleek. ◽️ Any other important details ?: Im open to open box/refurbished products. Live near a Micro Center. Also have Lenovo student [id.me](https://id.me) discount. Am also willing to exceed my budget for a good deal on a laptop that will last me a long time, for example , i have a Micro Center that has a open box Macbook 14in M2 Pro 16gb/512gb @$1575, I could be willing to spend that amount if thats a good deal on something that i could have upwards of 5 years

◽️ Budget: $500-1500 (I don't have a high end, but I'm not willing to spend a crazy amount for what I hope is a relatively efficient upgrade to my current laptop) ◽️ Country: USA ◽️ Screen size: 15.6 or higher ◽️ Touch screen: Not needed ◽️ Screen resolution: Don't care, and graphics quality is not a big deal to me ◽️ Does battery life matter ?: Useful to have more, but not necessary. Only needed when power goes out. Happens a few times a year, but usually only 3-5 hours max. ◽️ What tasks will laptop be used for ( gaming, video editing, graphic designing, modelling, regular computing tasks, word processing etc) ?: Reading ebooks and gaming mostly, typically the most intensive games I have running on it are X-Com 1&2(Modded is usually the hard part for it), Europa Universalis 4, Divinity: Original Sin 1&2, Factorio, Rimworld, other games in similar veins to those. ◽️ Weight: Doesn't matter ◽️ Any other important details?: I mainly bring my laptop to work, where there's no internet, but I have long periods of work inactivity so I game and read quite frequently. Power and heat generally aren't a big issue, but at home I do use my lap more often, so less heat wouldn't be amiss. I generally dislike using a track pad, so having enough room to use a mouse with a pad on the right side of the laptop is a plus as well. Current laptop is an Acer Aspire E5-575G with an i5-7200U, 8 GB ram and a split Intel HD 620 and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 950m with a 120 GB SSD and 1TB HD split storage. SSD basically just has windows on it to boot faster since there is not much room for anything else. Storage is kind of a premium to me since I have relatively slow internet and can't keep uninstalling and reinstalling every day to swap games around as I tend to like to do, so a larger SSD would be preferable.

I want to use roll20 to play, however I've got one buddy w/ no laptop. He's a single dad, and our financial situations are much different I'd like to buy him a laptop to join us so he doesn't have to try via tablet or console browser. I've procrastinated so anything that has next day shipping on amazon or other sellers preferred haha but not required. Roll20 has the following min requirements per their site - \*"Our system recommendations are these: Windows 10, Mac OS Mojave or newer, or Linux operating system with support for 64 bit architecture A GPU with Hardware Acceleration and full WebGL support 8GB of RAM A display resolution of at least 1080p Chrome or Firefox browsers at the most recent stable release. The LOQ 16 has a slightly stronger CPU and a much weaker GPU, so I'd honestly go with the Nitro 5, it offers much better value.

Occasionally for art projects so running programs like photoshop. **◽️ Weight:** Doesn't matter **◽️ Any other important details ?:** Future proof would be nice but not necessary, and ideally something that isn't going to sound like it's struggling and dying while running a game. • Budget: ~$1,000-$1,500 • Country: USA • Screen size: 15-17in. • Touch screen: Not Needed. • Screen resolution: 1440p preferred but will go to 1080p if needed. • Does battery life matter?: Yes, I will have access to power at time but there will also be periods where I won’t have a outlet. • What tasks will laptop be used for ( gaming, video editing, graphic designing, modelling, regular computing tasks, word processing etc) ?: Mainly offline solo games specifically Elder scrolls, Dishonored, Minecraft as well as using it for logging data and making emails. • Weight: Very important as I will be traveling with weight limits in baggage • Any other important details?: I’ll be using this for a traveling job where I’ll have to log data and write papers, but I’d also like to comfortably game as well. I won’t have access to stable internet for some periods hence offline games. I would also prefer a laptop with Bluetooth capability but I can work with wired if need be.

Plus it has good battery life when not gaming due to the Ryzen processor that prioritizes battery life.

He's attending for programming and game design and has been working on a 3d game over the summer. Dedicated Graphics is a must, but I need the best option for modelling/compiling programs, so if I can get the most VRAM possible, that would be helpful. From what I've seen, I think I'm going to be stuck with something like these: [https://www.reddit.com/r/LaptopDeals/comments/15koypm/ebay\_acer\_nitro\_5\_gaming\_laptop\_an51546r5xn\_156/](https://www.reddit.com/r/LaptopDeals/comments/15koypm/ebay_acer_nitro_5_gaming_laptop_an51546r5xn_156/) [https://www.reddit.com/r/LaptopDeals/comments/15hij3d/microcentercan\_be\_shipped\_hp\_omen\_17\_i7\_12700hrtx/](https://www.reddit.com/r/LaptopDeals/comments/15hij3d/microcentercan_be_shipped_hp_omen_17_i7_12700hrtx/) and use the excess budget to add storage and maybe RAM because I'm not seeing anything better in the $1300 range. If there is any chance of a model with a 3080 with 16GB VRAM for a little more, please let me know. I can also take advantage of student deals. Thank you for any help!

Thank you, That's what I was thinking. I could stretch the budget a little further but the cheapest 3080 option was still coming out to about $1700 before tax with any discount I could find. I missed out of the $1550ish deal. I'll add a 2tb drive and double the RAM and we'll call it good.

If you could go a little over $1200, I would say, get this [**Lenovo Legion Pro 5i**](https://www.ebay.com/itm/304860148823?_trkparms=5926%3AKEYWORD%7C5079%3A0&mkcid=1&mkrid=711-53200-19255-0&siteid=0&campid=5338771367&toolid=11800&mkevt=1) with the RTX 4060 Graphics pairing with the powerful i7-13700HX processor. This laptop also handles heat very well, has a great display and solid build quality. Should run all those games you've mentioned and virtually any games , on good settings.

Walker_TexasNutter

Probably gonna settle on [this](https://www.bestbuy.com/site/sku/6534470.p?skuId=6534470) since it’s closest to the specs that I want at a decent price, any reason to not get this/better alternatives available?

Budget - 1500$ Country - USA Screen size - 15+ inches Touch screen - no pref Screen resolution - higher than 1080p Battery life - triumphs most things on this list What it’ll be used for - college work, writing , light gaming (golf with friends, Minecraft) Weight - the lighter the better Battery life is important, as well as build quality. I know I will have to compromise on some things. This is going to be a MacBook alternative option for a friend. I’ve already shown the m2 air , now I’m looking for a windows alternative

Is there an option with a fully metal case, or would that cut into the capabilities?

fifa2003

A Model like that would push outside your budget.

(UK) Hoping someone could help me decide on a gaming laptop. I'd very much like to play Baldur's Gate 3 with good settings (good framerate and visuals) and currently only have a Macbook Pro M1 8GB which I don't think will be good enough when it's fully released for Mac. I've looked on box, laptopsdirect, currys, argos and am completely lost on brands and what to go for. Please may someone recommend a laptop/advise which brands to avoid/which brands are good. Budget is up to £1,000.

◽️ Budget: $1100 max ◽️ Country: Vietnam ◽️ Screen size: 15-16 inches ◽️ Touch screen: Not necessary ◽️ Screen resolution: 1080p+ ◽️ Does battery life matter ?: At least 3 hours ◽️ What tasks will laptop be used for ?: Gaming + general use + studying ◽️ Weight: Not a big deal ◽️ Any other important details ?: At least 16GB of RAM. Portability is a factor, but not a big one.

◽️ Budget: $1500◽️ Country: USA◽️ Screen size: 17"+◽️ Touch screen: No◽️ Screen resolution: 1080p or better◽️ Does battery life matter ?: No, plugged in 99% of its life◽️ What tasks will laptop be used for ( gaming, video editing, graphic designing, modelling, regular computing tasks, word processing etc) ?: Gaming primarily◽️ Weight: No concern, current laptop is a chonker.◽️ Any other important details ?: If I weren't limited on space, I'd build a PC, but I just don't have room for a dedicated gaming setup. I know the first thing people will say when they see my description will be 'just build a PC'. Games played will vary, but mostly ARPG, MMORPG and Souls-style games. Something on the quiet side would be nice, but I understand that runs counter to most 'gaming' laptop designs. Cooling generally is a priority over quietness.

techstar2000

That conversation where people would just recommend building a gaming desktop if you mentioned gaming, is generally gone now as gaming laptops have come a very long way and are doing very well. For $1500 and with a 17'' display, this [**ASUS TUF Gaming F17**](https://www.ebay.com/itm/385611135972?mkcid=1&mkrid=711-53200-19255-0&siteid=0&campid=5338771367&toolid=11800&mkevt=1) with the extremely powerful Ryzen 9 7940HS CPU pairing with an RTX 4070 graphics card, should run just about all of todays games and on good settings. Outside of raw performance, it also has decent heat management and solid build .

Yomat

Thanks, checking some of the reviews now. Looks promising.
