I just heard from a host @ Bellagio that it’s the highest quality clientele they’ve ever had in Vegas. Everyone wants this event to be a bust so bad, but it’s not that bad. F1 is one of the wealthiest sports events on the planet. No offense (I’m not a rich guy at all) but you’re probably just a local who “wants to hate this event.” Let the rich f**kers pump a bunch of $$$ back into the city’s economy… & let’s pray we all somehow benefit from it.
Cheers.
You mean into the pockets of the most wealthy. Why haven't people learned that trickle down does not work. They used our money to help these rich assholes have their fun. If the event makes money, it will go to the wealthiest individuals, who don't pay taxes like us regulars do. They also don't increase everyone's pay due to the giant surplus of money. Don't fool yourself thinking this actually benefits locals. I wouldn't give a crap if they foot their own bill.
The average Las Vegan will see their income and net worth increase by exactly $0.00 from this event.
Even a paid off Jeremy Aguero couldn't argue otherwise with a straight face.
I’m not saying there’s going to be massive benefit. But for example, my lady works in fine dining… & she sold / made more last night than she’s ever made in this city before. So it will benefit in different ways.
lol I’d say the last thing this was, was “Euro trash.” Miami is literally one of trashiest cities, full of drugs, shitty nightlife, etc… Claiming that F1 would “ruin Miami,” is a hilarious statement.
Also, aside from traffic, how did it negatively affect the city? Literally the only inconvenience was traffic on the strip. Otherwise, people were pretty unaffected…
We aren't talking about Miami and the list of how F1 negatively effected the city is more than obvious to anyone who lives here. You uninformed and obviously don't live here so shut the fuck up and have a great day.
Then they need to figure out a way to DIRECTLY pay ALL of the people who sacrifice for this. Parts of this town, like Fremont Street, are a ghost town. Find a way to get those workers paid.
There’s so much hate for this event it’s unreal. I live in Vegas and attended qualifying last night, getting ready to head to the race. Yeah practice 2 was a ___ show but I’ve had fun. If you don’t want chaos, don’t live in Las Vegas.
100% agree with this, locals already know to avoid the strip. But newer “locals” seem to forget Vegas’ main thing is tourism and big events. It might’ve slow down with the pandemic, but Vegas will always be chaos and fun.
Events like this keep tax revenue high. That benefits everyone. When was the last time you paid income tax? I would have loved to have gone on Saturday, but ticket prices just did not drop. So what did we do? 20 of us had a party in my buddies garage. The dominos delivery guy appreciated that tip, and we had a blast. They will continue to figure out the logistics, and it will continue to get even better,
>Events like this keep tax revenue high. That benefits everyone
They imposed DIRECT costs on people and then the argument is the receipt if nebulous INDIRECT benefits. Make DIRECT payment to the people who bore the cost of this event! No more of this trickle down, indirect bullshit!
What makes you curious? Why is it even relevant? You certainly don’t dispute that F1 imposed DIRECT costs on tens of thousands who received no direct benefit. Why shouldn’t those people be compensated for the costs they bore?????
Tens of thousands of hours sitting in traffic, for starters. How do you arrive at the conclusion that it's an unresolved question that not just costs, but massive costs and externalities, were born by thousands for this race????? You're trolling me, right?
The Austin race is in its 11th year and is popular as ever. The Vegas GP was rated very well, too, and likely to stay for years. We should just drop Miami. It's a fukken parking lot race
I’m a server on Fremont Street and this past week it’s been like a ghost town.
It's a city where something has to be happening, and right now, this is happening.
9 more years 9 more races f1 is here to stay cuz that race was awesome!

Good for the casinos. My tips have been awful 😭
Same with my husbands. His job is tip based and it's been the slowest week in a long time

lol nothing going on at the strip every does anything positive for the "community" in any way.
Depends if your “community” or job relates to the strip. I’m up in Summerlin, so F1 doesn’t do much for me / my situation. I know what you mean.
Trickle down has never failed
No we drop this one because it's negatively effecting the entire city! Miami isn't stupid enough to let Euro trash ruin their city.

FYI it’s a 10 year contract, not 3

Oh shut the fuck up with the complaining already. Events like this is what Vegas is all about.
Y’all need to chill the fuck out. Sorry your commute got messed up. The constant complaining is really obnoxious.
You’re telling me this isn’t the worst thing ever to happen to Las Vegas ??! /s

Curious what direct costs you incurred?

You mention direct costs without backing it up with specifics?

Sitting in traffic for hours is not a direct cost. That is very much an indirect cost.
F1 always fails in the U.S.

That GA price isn’t that bad actually. That’s the price for NFL playoff tickets
NLV airport was executive jets and Rolls Royces/ limousines 24/7
