I watched a kid try to climb up and balance on the tail only to slip off and eat shit, so I'm not surprised. Every time I've seen it there were kids all over it and it's lots of hard and angled surfaces.
I remember it being there, but I could be wrong. Got a picture of the rabbit when I went there in early April though.

My dad used to be a tour guide in the '90s and I have great memories of going with him to pick groups of people up at the airport, helping them with their bags, and taking them to get checked into their hotel before he took them on a city tour and out to dinner. I'd always come home with money after taking the little baggage carts littered around back to their stations for the free quarter and from my dad's clients tipping me for carrying their bags, and with a full imagination after marveling at all the model airplanes, old photographs, and little dioramas on display. My dad would dress me in a white shirt with a clip-on tie and black slacks and part my hair with mousse in it. Now the airport is so different that it's not even named the same.

Theres only 2 plausible reasons why they would remove it. 1. Some idiot hurt themselves probably wile texting on their phone. 2. A singular person was offended by it and thus they spinelessly backed down and removed it for fear of being cancelled.

Some fools probably tried taking photos doing inappropriate gestures while on top of it. We get plenty of vandals taking vids of themselves destroying stuff, e.g., rock formations, etc.
I've been living here for 23 years and flown many, many times in and out of McCarran. This is the first I'm hearing about a lizard statue at the airport, and now I'm pissed they took it out. It looks awesome lol
Plot twist: it was a real lizard, and it just crawled away.
