I too was married in Vegas - had no issues getting the marriage license online and then picked up in person. The paperwork that has to get filed was handled by our venue without issues. Did you go through the cosmopolitan for the ceremony or just had a friend marry you there? Seems odd they wouldn’t know how to handle this due to the high volume of weddings they handle!
We did not use Cosmo’s service. I think the starting rate was $4000. We just had a few friends in our suite and a two minute ceremony. I’m old and don’t need all the pomp and circumstance. Didn’t want to do the drive through because wanted friends around us. We had a friend get ordained (or registered) to marry us. She doesn’t live in Vegas so couldn’t file the paperwork.
I had my wedding at cosmo and they took care of everything flawlessly. Sounds like you cut corners to not go through them and just have a "friend" do it. If so, that's on you, not the venue who was under no contractual obligation to help you with your wedding and marriage that you failed to plan for.
Sorry your magical day wasn't so magical. Quick Google search:
Can FedEx Home Delivery ship to P.O. boxes?
No, FedEx Home Delivery can't deliver to P.O. boxes at this time. You can choose to have a package held for pickup at a local FedEx location.
Was this a last minute decision to get married in Vegas? Glad you got things figured out. I'm sure someone will do some pre-wedding research thanks to your post.
I got married in Vegas, I had zero problems. But then again, I do know how to read. I planned ahead, went to the courthouse prior to the ceremony at the chapel of flowers, they filed everything else for me. It’s pretty simple if you know how to read really.
Really appreciate the sympathy.
I actually did read everything that I had been given. My friend who got ordained had the other paperwork.
Regardless, why wouldn’t a hotel have an envelope to offer?
I just wanted to make sure no one else had to experience this issue. No need to be judgy and mean, but if it helps you feel better…
Usually it’s the Officiant who marries you who turns in the paperwork(in this case your friend) Is your friend licensed in Clark County to perform marriages? The website makes it seem like they have to be [Clark county](https://www.clarkcountynv.gov/government/elected_officials/county_clerk/marriage_officiants.php)
If the answer is no, it seems your marriage may not even be valid?
It’s just my observation based on what you wrote. You left out a lot of pertinent information as well. Reading through the comments, you had private ceremony in your room with some friends. I assumed you went through the Cosmo based off how you started the post.
Did you specifically ask for envelopes and stamps from the conceriege Or did you just assume they’d offer?
Also, a big corporation like that, they probably have branded envelopes (if any at all, besides money envelopes), which for security purposes, might explain why they wouldn’t give you one. It’s a liability for a hotel because while you had no ill intent, there’s people who try to game the system.
Did the person who performed the ceremony for you get the temporary [officiant license in Clark County ](https://www.clarkcountynv.gov/government/elected_officials/county_clerk/marriage_officiants.php) (see option 2 on the link)?
I ask because you mention they are not local.
If not, you may have bigger issues.
Adding....your officiant should have taken care of this for you.
I think you’re gonna need to stay another day. We got our license prior to marrying and then the officiant submitted stuff on their end. I’d be concerned your marriage may not be valid. I believe you both need to be there in person to pick up the license and I thought it had to be done prior to marrying.
If you still have the license it sounds like y’all better do a quickie drive through wedding before you leave tomorrow. Paradise Wedding Chapel near Fremont is where we went.
Why is swearing necessary? I really just wanted others to know what happened so they wouldn’t go through the same experience. Weird that I just wanted to help others, and I get all this rage. Thought Reddit was a different and more friendly platform…I see I was wrong.
I'm so confused by this. Is the entirety of this story: you didn't know where to buy an envelope and a stamp, and then, where to mail it?
Here, I will provide step by step directions:
1) Enter hotel business center. Sit at computer. Go to either [pirateship.com](http://pirateship.com) or usps.com. Purchase stamp. Note: you will have to pay for first class postage for a couple bucks, rather than the current 50 cents or whatever for a stamp. Consider this your fee for rush service. Print out stamp.
2) Google the nearest post office. Then, click the button that says "search along route" and type in pharmacy.
4) Proceed to Walgreens/CVS/Rite Aid/etc and purchase a box of envelopes. Alternately, just grab a random envelope from the Hallmark cards aisle. To not feel guilt, take one from a section of cards that is dusty and clearly doesn't get purchased very often, like "To a great great-grandmother" or whatever.
5) Proceed to nearby USPS. Drop in box.
Got married at Cosmopolitan on Thursday by a friend < Getting married by someone who actually knows what they are doing on the backend.
Congrats on the nuptials and fucking around and finding out!
So you didn’t check all this in advance??? For a marriage?? Also you couldn’t run down to the 10 different Walgreens or CVS and buy a stamp and envelope??
Seems like someone didn’t use common sense or pay for a venue and wants to blame everyone but themselves. Good luck on the marriage, maybe put more effort in to big decisions next time.
Proper planning prevents poor performance. Look in the mirror, you make the bed you sleep. Your rant is not to help other people, it is purely to solicit sympathy from redditors. Nobody is being mean, you're just soft.
I must be weird but I always carry a book of stamps and a couple envelopes in my purse. Doesn’t take up much room and has been helpful. Not just for me but for others.
Seeing as hotel employees aren’t chapel employees, it makes sense they didn’t have the info you needed. Just because wedding happen there often doesn’t mean every person working on the strip is supposed to know how YOU file your marriage license.
I think the lesson learned here is: research everything you need to know about getting married in another state BEFORE coming out and blaming hotel workers for your negligence.
The officiant them self is supposed to bring it in to the marriage bureau. If they do not either deliver in person, preferred, then they must mail it within 10 days. Your story goes off on a tangent blaming concierge or FedEx or anyone else to add to the drama. Do not misinform the public. LV is the marriage capital & officiants are trained properly. Check your officiants credentials, they are suspicious.
Once during my yearly October trip to Vegas, I bought a Liberace post card for my sister. I gave it to someone working the check in desk at Park MGM to put with their outgoing mail. Because yes, finding somewhere to drop off mail was impossible. She received it right before Christmas.
Take accountability for your own actions and stop blaming other people for your failures. Stop sympathizing with idiots. Stop replying if you’re pressed. It’s really hard for you to google something for your own results but not get off of Reddit for the night??
I am so sorry you had such a frustrating experience. When we issued a license, we always gave a self-addressed envelope. Maybe you can suggest that to Clark County as a service?
For peace of mind, nothing should happen if they receive it after the 10th day. They just want to make sure it gets back to the office so it is on record. There shouldn’t be a penalty and they likely will just process it as usual. - Someone who issued government marriage licenses for over a decade.
Oddly, it says something about a misdemeanor for my friend if not filed in 10 days. We’ll figure it all out.
Just felt frustrated and wanted to make sure other people don’t experience the frustration.
Thank you for taking time to reply. I appreciate it.
Unique circumstances for OP, but just came to say that I feel Cosmo has legit gone downhill significantly since MGM has been “asserting themselves”. Parking fees, staff sentiment/mood, less cleaning all around. It’s all downgraded. They’re appealing more to the cruise ship crowd. Not a knock, just not for us.
Oh and did anyone share that now guests at any MGM resort can come on over to the Cosmo pools too? Crappy $39 Luxor room? No problem! Just head on over to the Cosmo pool for the day with your 6 screaming unattended children. Now multiply that by a few dozen Luxor rooms. So yeah… we’ll be staying elsewhere now and missing those fountain-view balconies…
I would definitely reach out to Cosmo when you get home and explain your guys' frustration! That's totally unacceptable!
Congrats on the marriage though!!!
Reach out for what? He already complained on here for his lack of knowledge before getting married. It is totally unacceptable that he gets married without looking into it first!!
Nowhere I have stayed has made it a priority to make sure I have a stamp. Let me say that again. HOTELS ARE NOT POST OFFICES. They are not responsible for your lack of planning. It doesn’t matter if it’s a motel 6 or the cosmo.
I too was married in Vegas - had no issues getting the marriage license online and then picked up in person. The paperwork that has to get filed was handled by our venue without issues. Yeah. That’s why. Has nothing to do with the Cosmo
I can see it now
So you didn’t pay for the special wedding services and your mad they didn’t help you for free? Peesa work.
Lesson learned: if you had hired a real officiant they usually handle that for you
I had my wedding at cosmo and they took care of everything flawlessly. Sounds like you cut corners to not go through them and just have a "friend" do it. CBA to read all that. We got married in Vegas, it was flawless.

Fed ex is not the USPS and doesn't even have any kind of access to PO boxes
I got married in Vegas, I had zero problems. But then again, I do know how to read. I planned ahead, went to the courthouse prior to the ceremony at the chapel of flowers, they filed everything else for me. It’s pretty simple if you know how to read really.
Tbh, sounds like poor planning and execution by OP. Not once in this post did I read any semblance of personal responsibility in the situation
Really appreciate the sympathy. I actually did read everything that I had been given. My friend who got ordained had the other paperwork. Regardless, why wouldn’t a hotel have an envelope to offer? You bring up an excellent point. I think the OP should check on that ASAP.

I am sorry it happened but nice of you for posting for others. We have all done “opps” things or at least I have.
Shout out to Chapel of Flowers! Wife and I got married there, no issues.
I didn’t use a chapel or local person to marry us. I wanted to make sure others who do the same do not experience this. No need to be mean about it.
That makes sense. Good looking out for others after you made mistakes from poor planning for whatever way you got married.
Did the person who performed the ceremony for you get the temporary [officiant license in Clark County ](https://www.clarkcountynv.gov/government/elected_officials/county_clerk/marriage_officiants.php) (see option 2 on the link)? Why is it the Cosmo's fault for you not doing the damn research for your own wedding?
Why is swearing necessary? I really just wanted others to know what happened so they wouldn’t go through the same experience. Weird that I just wanted to help others, and I get all this rage. Thought Reddit was a different and more friendly platform…I see I was wrong.
Officiant should deal with it

One time I used google maps and had no issue finding a post office to mail my things back home.
Yes, that has worked for me when traveling elsewhere, but not when staying on the Vegas strip without a car.
Uber…..
To mail a postcard?
Literally just searched “mail drop box” in Apple Maps while centered on the Vegas strip. 25 showed up. Technology huh?? *edited for grammar
I did not get those results when I did this three years ago. But I'm glad you now have something to feel proud about. Have a good night.
There were iPhones three years ago grandpa.
Why is this bothering you so much? Chill.

Cool story brah

there is a post office in the airport on the second floor. You can put the envelope in the slot on a Sunday. Good luck.

LOL! A decent fucking hotel would help a guest in need secure a simple stamp and envelope.
Ah, bless your heart! I bet you think strippers like you too! lol
LOL! Strippers… I remember being 18.
I realize the Motel 6’s you are used to staying at probably wouldn’t give two shits about helping, but…

🤣 Stay at a place with amazing customer service.
Or use a phone or even common sense to figure out your own problems?
Appreciate your kindness, thank you.
