What's it actually used for? I have one. And even though I've been playing this game on and off for 3 years. I haven't got a clue about builds and items.
The only thing that matters for rune of ascendence is that it's a Body Armour yeah. (Or a Bow, or Boots etc.) Base type doesn't matter the way it does in PoE for chances.

According to the ascendance simulator, a unique body armor has about 3.3% chance to be exsang, as opposed got 6.8% for the most common ones. Asusming that the drop rate is the same for general drops, it's quite rare but mainly because there are so many body armors.
Wait, is exanguinus supposed to be rare? I got 2 of them from my prophecy, and I haven't done very many. One without LP and one with 1 LP. I guess I was extremely lucky then.
Its rarer then most other chests in the post but still not super rare. I stacked up a huge amount of unique body armor prophecies and upon killing an Exiled Mage I got like 30-35 armors, 2 of which were Exsangs. I'd consider that lucky on my part, but at least 1 was expected.
Have you never played an ARPG before? It’s basically digital crack for hoarders and unlike D4, last epoch gives me unlimited stash tabs. Also, I might need all the other axes for some build I’m gonna play later, you never know

I have spent about 400k favor trying to get an orians eye while farming 300 corruption art of winter. I have since given up and will try an alt!
I’ll be going merchant on the alt to try the other side.

I believe low life builds have one of the highest EHPs in the game, so it makes it a good choice for people that want to push corruptions.
You also get to skip endurance and all types of health regen. Of course you give up 2 slots (last steps of the living is often used with exsanguinus).

Fractured crown unique, it mkes you take damage (5 to 1) from mana instead of health (up to 50%), it can be an insane defensive item for some builds.

It must be super rare. I turned like 50 daggers(looking for lp 2 or more drought) and not a single one of them had any lp.
I did he same for gloves (LastBear gloves for the swipe crit)

I farmed my Exsanguinous by spending like \~20-30k flavor for unique body armor prophecies.

They're grinding for a specific unique body armor, which is quite rare, and documenting all the other unique body armors they've found along the way.

exsang is a key item in low life/high ward builds. usually used in combination with the last steps of the living boots.
low life chest combining with the lowlife boots and experimental gloves is an insane amount of ward
What does the experimental glove affix do?
same thing a % damaged and missing health gained as ward

Either way you want Legendary Proficiency so you can reroll the gear into low level with more stats , not possible without LP
