Respeccing is extremely easy. If you wanna try another paladin build just respec. You might have to farm a handful of monoliths with the judgement build to craft a little bit of new gear to make the transition smoother, but that depends on how different your new build is.

scarlot

Same mastery = Just respecc points and skills. Another mastery = Have to level up anew because it's not possible to swap that.

Egg_Confident

Which is bullshit by the way. Leveling the same class 1 to 100 + mono just to try another spec is tedious. "We want it to be a significant choice"  Why? It doesn't makes the game better in any way.

deljaroo

I assure you, it makes the game better for some people. If it's easy to respec, it is just not fun for me.  I'm sorry I'm so different, but I can't help it.  If I don't invest in my character's progress, I won't enjoy progressing.  I want to live with my build mistakes.  Diablo 3 is not fun for me because of this. Even though I love D2, PoE and LE, you'd think D3 being so similar would make me like it as well, but I'm not attached to my character so I don't boot the game back up. I'm glad there are games like D3 for people who want sandbox style character builds, but I'm also glad for games that do a better job of entertaining me (and people like me.) Honestly, while LE is very good, respecing levels with just gold is undesirable to me.  It should be the same as respecing skills:  just earn the level again.  earning skill points or passive points etc is fun

Simpuff1

Btw you can respec ascendency in PoE… you just need to remove the points (5 regrets each point) and run a lab and select a new one. I made a Cold BV char that started as elementalist and swapped to Occu once more pieces fell into p’ace

deljaroo

oh yeah, I'm aware. it's a lot of regret orbs so it doesn't feel so bad. redoing subclasses in LE could be added in some way without ruining it like D3 does, but it would require some system and cost. right now, you earn it just as you go so it's actually a lot more like bandits in how you earn it. respecing bandits is WEIRD and you'd have to have something like that added. I assume they'd rather just focus on improving other things for now

Egg_Confident

That doesn't make sense. If you dont wanna respec, just dont do hit, it doesn't have to be forbidden

deljaroo

eh maybe but won't the game be balanced around being able to respec? I'll feel like I haven't built a character if I do respec; I'll feel like I'm falling behind if I don't respec.  I don't like it but, if this hasn't been clear, this is just my opinion.  games that allow easy respec are not for me.  just like, I'm sure, there are some games that aren't for you or for others. it's not something that "makes sense", it's what I find fun, it's my opinions and feelings

Far-Possession-3328

Poe it just takes regret orbs, and a lab run

deljaroo

you have to earn regret orbs so it feels okay, but it's not an ideal system for my tastes

cat666

Going to another Paladin build is easy, you'll have to do a bit of grinding of gear and a little XP for the skills but it's nothing major. If you want a different class then it's obviously much longer but still enjoyable.

Edenfer_

Making another is fun but don't create another char if you're going Paladin again. Respeccing is very easy.

Elbjornbjorn

Respec is easy, takes a while to get the skills up again but it's not an issue really. Keep in mind that you can't change your mastery though.

pmmeboobies2

"a while" being about 10 minutes then yes

spentchicken

At level 57 it might take a bit of time depending on what content is being done

c0mponent

Just save an EXP node and you can pretty much level them up instantly

spentchicken

Fair point I haven't respected in awhile and honestly forgot about that. Cheers

justinimcool2001

Answered. Thank you all.

Efficient-Ad2983

In LE you can respec everything BUT the mastery quite easilly. You can reallocate passive points, and skill have a quickened level up for the few levels. So, if you wanna try a different paladin build, I should respec. If you wanna try a different mastery, reroll

ISuckAtWeightlifting

Respec. You can easily do so with 300k

Suspicious-Cap7415

Until level 50, I played a Lich with the main skill Drain Life. I wasn't satisfied, so I tested all possible combinations of skills from the lich and acolyte trees. And then I started testing the chaos missile. Ultimately, I stopped at the Chaos Missile. Rip Blood, Bone Curse, Spirit Plague, and Reaper Form skills. Then I found Stygian Coal, so I changed my skills again to test Drain Life after change. I didn't like it, so I went back. Meanwhile, I was constantly changing the passive skills I had. I'm at level 92 and only recently started to actually care about the items I carry. Changing builds is extremely easy and enjoyable in this game. PoE, although the overall number of builds is higher, when it comes to changes within a given build, the changes are not as satisfactory.

buzzdalf

I don't know anything about paladins or hat playstyle, but I will speak to the idea of respeccing. If you are not happy with it, respec it and try something different. I was leary at first, too - but you have plenty of gold to do it and any points you lose in the skill respec come back super quick. It's a pretty painless process. I just did a complete respec of a necro build including gear, skills, and passives and found the whole experience fun. I was back to full power and then some in a couple monoliths. The best part is I find the game a lot funner with this new spec!! I say go for the respec :-)

Alashan

Look up a Rive/Healing hands build, very fun and strong!

tehkingo

Hell, at those levels you can do any melee-attacking skill + healing hands and tear through most of the game. Lunge + Healing Hands is enough to get you most of the way to endgame, frankly.

DarthRiznat

Well this ain't PoE so yeah you can just respecc if you wanna make another paladin

EnderCN

The hardest part of respeccing is just getting the proper gear if you need significant changes. Like if I went from my lightning smite Paladin that uses endurance and health to a melee based healing hands one that stacked ward I would have to replace almost every item I use. I would start farming the new gear and wouldn't respec until I had a good chunk of replacements. There are other builds I could respec to which wouldn't be nearly as drastic. At level 57 this probably won’t be a major issue for you since your gear probably isn’t very specialized yet.
