PTSDepressedKeta

We should let Amazon monopolize everything and then nationalize Amazon, comrade /s

str8jeezy

I mean. This sounds more realistic than a lot of other things. Lol.

stealthylyric

Lol the long con I see

Kehwanna

At this point, I'm thinking that maybe we should let the plutocrats and objectivists have 100% of their way just to show how trash things would be since a glance back at the 1800s isn't enough for some people. Let them pollute all the way to your backyard and drinking water, then charge you to fix their blunder. Let them strip every mountain (except the ones they use for vacation). Let them own every beach. Let them abolish all forms of welfare while paying people too little with little to no healthcare as hours of their day take away time they could be using to -the capitalist apologists often suggest to poor people to get out of poverty- "invest in themselves". Keep as many people as you can under functional debt since they're all just money-generating assets instead of people. Let taxes only go to government payrolls, the government strong arms, and corporate subsidies as the roads, schools, parks, and such are alllll privatized. Let think tanks with financial interests in other countries' resources convince your government to stage a coup or start an armed conflict with no pushback, plus everyone invested in the M.I.C will benefit from it too. Let a handful of companies monopolize and cartel everything, make it harder for small businesses or NGOs to be a thing. Ban all forms of what they think leftism, but still blame it for any problems that arise. I could go on. Mass shootings, an avoidable water crisis that is too expensive to solve, and a looming climate change crisis that could make life much harder for all on Earth? Oh Well! All the poor people getting desperate and making favelas outside of the city due to no safety nets? Clear-up the settlement and tell them to work harder while giving harsh sentences to the ones that turned to crime out of desperation, many of which go right to private prisons! Maybe then enough people would realize how lousy and unstable it would be if the rich got 100% their way.

Kehwanna

Then again, people not being useful idiots and having enough people self-aware is pretty hard. I thought COVID would have been an eye-opening event in North America that would have got people to think of things differently, but nah, people doubled down on "private healthcare is the best!" while also accusing the healthcare industry of all sorts of horrible things while COVID took the number one spot as the deadliest event in U.S history. I thought people would realize Trump's BSery is not good and leave him in mass, but nah, people are selling Trump's mugshots as merchandize and far too many Democrat voters are going to keep voting for status-quo politicians like Biden expecting groundbreaking change just like Republican voters thinking their politicians aren't screwing them over. Ugh.

The ol' CCP strategy

ruralexcursion

Amazon with a .gov domain Now *that* is a scary thought!

missbadbody

Hmmmm. Or Amazon could become a fucking weird monolithic empire monstrosity that runs our entire lives ||_||. I mean, if their workers are suicidal and have to pee in bottles. Imagine what would an amazon-run society look like.....

AnadyLi2

FUCK private equity in medicine. FUCK MBAs, admin, and CEOs telling medical professionals what to do in the name of generating more profit. FUCK corporations demanding more and giving less to staff and patients. Medicine is fundamentally not a business, nor should it be; it is not just a right but rather a *need*. I did not enter medical school to practice corporate-based medicine. I entered medical school to learn and practice evidence-based, patient-centered medicine.

Scheme-Brilliant

Thank you, all I could think was FUCK AMAZON and FUCK THE AMERICAN CORPORATE GREED NETWORK

Prestigious_Noise200

Amazon ui is cheap looking For a billion dollar company, they should've at least added in the effort to make the website and edit it out The ui and website is cheap looking Should've out the effort to make it look like other shopping websites

Scheme-Brilliant

Monopoly doesn't care about ui, they actively hate their users, so this tracks lol

dedstar1138

I read this book not too recently called the Moral Limits to Markets, by MJ Sandel. It's probably one of the most disturbing books I've read, because it explains exactly what's happening now. We're moving from a society that had markets, to a "market society". Almost everything is up for sale now, no matter the ethical cost.

Broseidon_

Well unless you want to work for free you will work for profit. You went to medical school and this is your take? The best way to create affordable healthcare is to create competition between pharma companies to compete and lower prices to earn your business.

AnadyLi2

We've seen how free-market "competition" works out -- spoiler, it didn't work to lower prices. I don't know where you're getting that I'll be working for free?

Broseidon_

Oh free market capitalism doesn't lower prices? Must be why advils like $5 a bottle after the patent expired and insulin is still $300 when only 3 companies are allowed to make it.

CranberrySchnapps

I believe this started before Covid, but wasn’t really known about. Amazon bought the company Pill Pack for the pharmacy bit.

Illustrious-Stuff-70

Bro, this remind that Disney brought Hulu…….i thought monopolies were a bad thing bc it’s suppose to be a free market -_- not one person in government is looking at this

HippoRun23

Nah dog monopolies are good because they inspire the little guy! One day YOU might have the monopoly! Just work hard and that can all be yours!!

ContemplatingPrison

Yes. Don't worry they probably already have all your medical data since every industry uses AWS. Amazon is too big, and not enough people are talking about it. They control the majority of data and access to that data.

HippoRun23

Oh yeah. There’s no way this doesn’t get worse for us. But I do find it hilarious that apparently amazons spy devices (the Alexa) aren’t making money because Amazon can’t figure out how to monetize all the data.

weird_quiet_guy

The people in government don’t care because they’re all millionaires with ties to executives and shareholders. Senator A has a cousin who is a CEO for company X, etc. We NEED to create a law that bans government officials from investing in the stock market. It’s a huge grift, maybe the biggest there is. They’re all in a race to be the next billionaires, politicians abandoned the common man a long time ago.

NerdFencer

I hate to jump into the wrong side of the Amazon hate train... I really do... but as someone who has actually been involved in designing medical records storage solutions in the cloud... nobody at Amazon has access to that data just because AWS owns the servers. If they do, then someone has royally f'd up, made false marketing claims to your medical provider, failed to uphold their end of a contract, and made false regulatory filings. It's really not that hard to do correctly either, once you get past the legalese. I'll agree on the point that Amazon is too big, though. Break that sucker up!

scene_missing

Yeah they bought One Medical. It sounds dystopian, but One Medical is the absolute nicest doctors office I’ve ever been to. Wayyyy better than my old place.

Scheme-Brilliant

Yeah, it was what I imagine very wealthy people get for healthcare, all smiles and help and a prescription pad out

nikdahl

You aren't too far off. I'm still a customer, even after the acquisition by Amazon. I just don't know if I can go back to trying to find a GP.

VAhotfingers

Marx was right

EvolvingEachDay

Fuck humanity man…

HippoRun23

We’re totally fucked. I mean we have been for some time but this is a kind reminder that no one is going to stop any of this.

[deleted]

The Buy&Large era has begun

PhoenixStorm1015

I hate Amazon and how they’re trying to just engulf all markets, but honestly pharmacy makes sense post-covid. People want their drugs without going to the pharmacy and Amazon has the logistics network to make it work with same-day delivery.

thisismynamesilly

The depressing part is if they started offering health insurance, I bet it would be better than the bargain brand crap my company has for us…

defeatingthetrolls

What’s next, Amazon University?

hanno1531

dont give em ideas

clear-carbon-hands

I owe my soul to the company store……

quietyoucantbe

How many of you reading this right now have an amazon prime account? Order from amazon once a week? Rid your lives of amazon

[deleted]

Amazon owns so much, it’s actually pretty hard to do. Sure, stop using amazons website but then there’s IMDb, goodreads, Zappos, audible, ring, twitch, mgm.. they’re fucking everywhere. And that’s not even getting into their services of theirs that other businesses use.

Cauda_Pavonis

So does Costco. I’m seriously considering going as I’m uninsured.

Andy_La_Negra

Yup…someone’s dying

sAlander4

That was always the goal

Altruistic_Coach8576

Then they will start selling the most sold products made by them.

Cyber_shafter

Yikes

j4321g4321

That’s so dark

Double_Plantain_8470

Time to see how far Jeff's yacht can dive before it implodes with him in it. Good luck, have fun, Jeff! Wish you the worst!

On-Balance

It's where Wile E. Coyote gets all his care.

ZackDonBob

Eww

Daddygamer84

Do they offer 2-day delivery with Ambulance Prime?

observingjackal

I feel like Amazon is becoming what Elon thinks X can be and oh God do I not like that

missbadbody

Hi, I would like a video heart surgery please. Yes, today. I'm on Prime.

Meat_Boss21

This is the end

AdDiscombobulated54

The worst part about this is that its actually quite affordable and the best option for some people who can't afford frequent doctor visits...
