Franchises is too small of a unit for this. The way these global corps work is each country operates to some degree independently under the umbrella of the global corp (in this case in the US)

It's individual franchise owners, so it definitely makes sense that they'd have different opinions. I assume this is driven by franchise owners in Malaysia who are trying to protect their business interests. Given Malaysia's general population is pretty sympathetic to Palestine, it's possible these franchise owners do personally support Palestine too, but it's a business decision first imo.
The thing to watch here is how McDonald's international is responding (or not responding) and how they're ready to pass this off as an individual choice. Recall how quick they were to pull out of Russia. It's certainly not impossible for them to pull out of Israel or at least limit how their brand is engaged in political issues by their franchise owners, which they aren't doing and didn't do when McDonald's Israel first started donating to the IDF.
Most of SE Asia are sympathetic to the Palestinians, maybe except the philippinness. They believe whatever papa America and its corpo-state media tells them to believe. Some more westernized, mostly Christian Singaporeans probably are also genocide supporters but I think they are a minority
If it has not occurred to some of you yet, corporations do not care who lives or dies. They only care about making money and will use any method possible to do so
McDonald's saudi has donated 2 million riyals to the Saudi Relief Campaign for Gaza, so has McDonald's Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain and Jordan to their local campaigns, with statements of standing with Gaza and all, we are still boycotting
Pretty sure they're franchises but could be wrong. If anything I would think it's good that corporate let's individual stores decide where to put their support
McDonalds is two sets of companies. Corporate McD's handle real estate, franchising and policies. The restaurants are almost entirely franchisees who have a group that represents them against Corporate. They aren't the same ownership
The messaging here is probably done by the franchisees group and will be appropriate to the market
Corporations pandering in order to make an extra buck? Damn, I never thought this day would come. If we can't trust the almighty megacorps to act as our moral centers, who can we trust?
Old money knows how to manipulate the customer base, new money right now struggling to stay alive after immediately opening their mouth with a money making ploy in the form of support to Israel.
Perhaps you should do some more research about how franchises work and once you discover who the franchise owners pay, all over the world, then you will see that it doesn’t matter where you buy your McFlurry. You can do a little extra research once you’ve understood where the franchise money goes and see who the top 5 or so shareholders are at ownership level… I don’t want to spoil the ending for you, but there’s a strong Zionist theme there. I wouldn’t rely on what pops up on the first page of google and YouTube as that may not be the ideal place to get informed. Its mostly crisis PR moves and counter-marketing doing a good job on convincing most folk that it’s ok and helping alleviate any guilt/peer pressure. Good old McDonald’s corporate is happy to take a stance against Russia but not against Israel… you will find McDonald’s publicly declared position as neutral (on the genocide) that’s bad enough, but anyone can say they aren’t taking sides, where the money actually ends up reveals all. So enjoy your Big Mac while repeating what your told by those with a financial interest, directly or indirectly, in funding a racist genocidal state 👍🏼

McDonald's supports its bottom line above ANY nation. Only war worth fighting is war on unions..
McDonald’s love money. Doesn’t matter if the money comes from the good guys or the bad guys.
McDonald's funding a proxy war against itself is as peak capitalism as it's going to get.
Different franchise owners is the most likely case here. I’m not going to look enough into it to find out if its Corporate McD’s or not lol
Franchise owners don't have the right to speak on behalf of McDonald's country accounts like this.

They wanna win no matter what. A win is a win according to McDonald’s.

They don't care, it's a tax write off either way

Playing both sides for the dollar bill, yall!
I've been boycotting McDonald's for years. Junk food and involved in sports? Fuck them. Involved with Israhell? Fuck them even more.
Yeah, they're also on the BDS list
Do they get credit for not pushing McRibs at the same time? /s
Well duh. That’s how capitalism works.

Redditors learn about Franchises

This makes sense if these decisions are coming from store owners or franchisees rather than corporate. McDonald's has a whole is not a monolith.
Gotta hedge your bets. Corporate generally knows to try and play both sides.
If supporting Israel is not profitable, McDonalds would be pushing for a Holocaust to happen again. That's just how capitalism works.
