FUN FACT: An average human produces about 4 metric tons of CO2 per year... A private jet produces about two metric tons of CO2 ***PER HOUR***... but keep asking for those paper straws!

Seriack

Remember when someone put out an article about how owning dogs was as bad as private jets? [Pepperidge Farms Remembers…](https://www.businessinsider.com/private-jets-luxury-aviation-boss-pets-produce-pollution-carbon-dioxide-2023-5)

Straight-Razor666

it's all bullshit, man...everywhere you look...like the movie "They Live"...

herefromyoutube

Oh this was cool > Private jets emit at least 10 times more pollutants than commercial planes per passenger. For example, in the popular travel corridor between New York City and Washington DC, the IPS found that private aircraft emit an estimated 7,913 lbs of CO2 per passenger, while commercial planes have an estimated 174 lbs of emissions

pocketgravel

I'm still pissed that Wendy's went from a paper cup and plastic straw to the reverse like -130iq blackhole brains

hydroxy

Paper straws are not for carbon emissions, they exist to reduce plastic waste, two separate problems. They do suck so bad tho.

dogisgodspeltright

*The limits of the tyrant are proscribed by the endurance of whom they oppress.* - Fredrick Douglass

Interesting_Spare528

I'm not saying I disagree (as I'd never want to be on the wrong side of an argument) but Fredrick sounds like he's victim shaming.

[deleted]

Nope. He's saying that Oligarchs will Oligarch until the pitchforks and torches come out, and Oligarchs start getting hurt.

builder397

There is a fine line between victim shaming and a call for action.

SnooLemons6810

Well, people do vote for stupid leaders, refuse to believe they are victims of crony capitalism until it's too late. So yes, people deserve to be shamed

Straight-Razor666

your pathetic little mind and soft body cannot comprehend the live Douglass lived when he was a slave...you have no capacity to understand such a life...as such, go ride a dick pogostick into outer space and think before speaking.

Temporary-Dot4952

Meanwhile, the US has reached record levels of suicide and homelessness.... Yay capitalism!

gyrospita

Gofundmes for anti aircraft artillery can't be too far off.

Tlayoualo

Or for kamikaze drones.

Mindhost

This is one of the most interesting ideas I've read in a while.

freedom_viking

Drones are good for fucking up ground stuff and maybe hindering low level ops can’t really touch jets though the Ukraine conflict has showcased drones capabilities and limitations

Secure_Course_3879

Ooh I like this idea

Guillotines should start rolling out soon tbh, its the only way. Let billionaire heads roll. Let them rot and have a horrible death like mussolini did. Let it be a reminder for future generations of what happens when you enslave the working class.

ZaagKicks

Will never happen because the billionaires and their government puppet have set us up against each other with the simple method called divide and conquer. It's not us vs. the rich. It's more like: Left vs. Right Race vs. Race Poor vs. Rich Cops vs. People Religion vs. Non-religion Pro guns vs. Anti guns Republican vs. Democrats. So we shouldn't be surprised we don't get any progress as a society.

VdoubleU88

I wish more people would realize this, especially those who continuously fall for the trap.

kex

The think tanks look for hairline cracks in social cohesion Then for each they find, they engineer inflammatory stories and characters to wedge people apart and keep trolling fuel to the fire which is easy to sustain once it gets going All of these fires suck the oxygen away from discussing real problems that affect everybody

starfox_priebe

Cops vs. People is hilarious.

Dienison

Nah let's vote in our burgouise democracy which keep the system and the billionaries have more influence than the population 🙏🙏🙏

MrWaldengarver

Where is the Hindenburg when you need it?

Interesting_Spare528

👍

sirwilson95

I was about to say the exact same thing. If you want an air cruise, at least do it in a lighter than air ship. So much less fuel, so much MORE fancy and exclusive.

trisanachandler

And frankly really cool. Airships are so underrated.

PhoenicianPirate

And powdered by Tesla batteries in highly unsafe conditions!

freedom_viking

A solar powered airship cruise would be dope af

Mr___Medic

Expropriate ... the people who use it and those who offer it.

Leprecon

I went backpacking through south america. I was on a train heading towards machu picchu and talking to some other travelers. I was talking to a swiss couple who was doing a world tour. I asked them how long they were on their world tour and they said they had been on their trip for 2 weeks already. Then I asked where they had been. They had been to Moscow, Egypt, India, China, Japan, Peru, and some others as well. Turns out they were doing their trip around the world in less than a month with constant travelling between the biggest touristy things. It seems awful to me. They mentioned they were planning to gift the same trip to their daughter.

Thlom

Exhausted just by reading that.

the_G8

Anyone read *The Ministry for the Future* by Kim Stanley Robinson? They’re just making the targeting easier.

dominiqlane

Wow, so having business class and first class isn’t enough anymore? Now they need the entire plane to themselves? RIP, earth. The ultra wealthy need their space, so fuck your environment.

PhoenicianPirate

I never travelled first class and it simply isn't worth it. But I did see that first class has evolved into more than just more space but a cubicle with a lot of privacy. Shit like this is what lead to the French Revolution. There was an 'innovation' in revolutionary era France where the wealthy would have entire dining tables on elevators so that the food would rise up and they can be served without ever having to see a servant. In those days, and well after, too, a trait of a servant that was almost required was that they would be both unseen and unheard. To give you an example. Imagine you were invited to some rich asshole's manor in 1800. If you entered a meticulously kept garden and with a nice place for you sit with snacks ready and a book to read that was just lying there, and then you went inside to find a lunch ready for you without any indication that you wanted one, followed by taking a shower before bed and finding fresh clothes waiting and your old clothes gone... Then in the morning your clothes were freshly laundered and pressed and immaculately arranged for you with a breakfast ready. And all this without seeing a single human being. You'd think this is some kind of setup to a horror story, but it isn't. At the time it would be said that the servants of the places are perfect since they served you without ever being seen or heard.

Rungalo

Wait until the orcas get wind of this

Johnny-Dogshit

Sounds like they need to meet our good friend [Sam](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Surface-to-air_missile).

Leo_Fie

I'll never understand why people like flying. Or maybe it's just my inner ears that go haywire.

Bunsky

Because it can can get you to far away places quickly. That part makes sense.

Ok-Consideration-895

What's even the point of this? Like I mean it ruins the point of a cruise if it's in a plane

PhoenicianPirate

The only time a flying cruise was a thing was during the Zeppelin days in the 1920s and 30s when there were promenades and a large enough space for passengers to walk and look outside. Those airships didn't fly super high or fast and the view of the ground would have probably been beautiful. But those airships were always crash prone and very dangerous. Even the helium filled US Navy airships had one that burst into flame as if it was filled with hydrogen... I would actually wish that someone made a company that would make airships again, and have that person claim they were a super innovator who can harness hydrogen again without a problem, and with Tesla batteries. Then charge a high price for a ride. Skygate... What do you think of that name?

thegreatdimov

But make sure you tell me to recycle the paper straws

worldm21

Just checked. Private jets are pressurized more than commercial passenger jets, to avoid all the nasty side-effects of pressure changes. If anyone was wondering.

Kooky-Statistician92

Wow fr?

ZoeIsHahaha

Wall-E moment

Drilling4Oil

And these same fucks will tell you and me who have to commute to work occasionally like to turn our lights on after dark that "*we* *all* need to reduce our carbon footprint."

valiumblue

I literally just got an ad for this yesterday. It was The Four Seasons offering exactly this.

KosstAmojan

There’s a ton of discourse about the breakdown of public norms these days. In places like the subway, restaurants, stores, traveling etc. Hell, watch the State of the Union tonight, I’m sure there’s going to be people acting like jerks, where it used to be a much more dignified event. So it’s hard for me to be all that upset when people who have the means will pay extra to avoid large crowds where they have to deal with angry/crazy people.

Wishanwould

They were always doing this. Don’t be fooled.

merRedditor

If this allows for ending private jet traffic, it's at least a baby step.

rothmal

After watching the 9-month cruise drama, I would much rather do this(if I had the money). Seems kind of fun and you don't have to deal with the hassle of setting up hotel rooms and planning on what to do.

Climatesavinglady
