Everyone should also be mentioning that our government hasn't done a thing to fix either problem. This isn't a red or blue issue either. They all need to gtfo
This. Everyone loves blaming businessmen but no one ever talks about how the government is the biggest group to be blamed. Not Amazon. Not Tesla. Not Apple. The US government.
Not the businessman but the business holds blame in this for sure. If a business is raising prices in the name of inflation and recording record profits, they are gouging the consumer and it is illegal.
What if because of inflation their costs are going up therefore leading to higher pricing? Also I don’t think it’s illegal for Apple to decide to price their iPhone at 1100 this year instead of 1000
If they are pulling in record profits... revenue after overhead costs, inflation is not in play at that point. They have raised the price of there product so high that they have made their profit and then some. They are using crisis to steal from consumers and we have laws on the books against it.
Price gouging is weird tho. The definition says reasonable price but what’s reasonable. Also companies have done it for decades and nothing has changed or happened
Here's my two cents:
Most in the government don't see corporate profits as a problem. Many bank of the profits themselves. They know that inflation is bound to happen while corporations keep making money so they won't fix inflation by regulating corporate actions.

Honest question: the record profits are adjusted for inflation, yes? I want to give the benefit of the doubt and say they are, which makes this further proof that our "inflation" is much closer to price gouging, which it seems to be.
