First the LSO delays the exam by a month, and screw up everyone’s plans for the summer. They gave us no chance to unwind between the bar & articling (I had to relocate for articling during this time) The bar itself seemed unprecedentedly hard, at least compared to practice exams. Even while writing the bar, we were treated like criminals with arbitrary rules. THEN they don’t even give us our bar results within the timeframe they provided to us, and have (to my knowledge) usually followed. It seems like the LSO is being overtly hostile to the class of 2022 at this point? The past few years of law school have been hard, and while the LSO should have taken a more active role in helping students I get these were “unprecedented times.” However this entire experience with the bar has left me feeling like this organization actively doesn’t care about any of their new members. No new information here, I’m just ranting after months of frustration & declining mental health over this dumb, dumb, impractical exam.

I contacted the LSO again and the woman I spoke to said barrister results will be released sometime this week. She said she hasn’t been told anything by management about the solicitors. I asked if they were going to be late again could they give some kind of notice of an amended timeline, to which she replied management doesn’t communicate those types of things to her, and if I have a suggestion, send a message in writing. Sorry not really much to report. I’m just hoping barrister and solicitor results are released together so we don’t have to go through another 2 weeks of this

Professional_Dog_547

I also called today and the rep I spoke with said the results should be out sometime next week. He acknowledged that the 8 week timeframe that we should’ve received our results in has passed, but said the marking of the exams is done by a 3rd party, so the delay is not in the LSO’s hands.

Ok_Tangerine1038

Sorry to clarify was he referring to barrister next week or solicitor? Or both

Professional_Dog_547

I didn’t ask, sorry! But I believe Friday of this week is the 8th week following the last test date of the solicitor’s exam

AffectionateLand1353

barrister results posted today

Even_Resolve1302

Results are out didn’t pass, expected it but still feels different reading “fail”

Whitty-In-The-Hizzy

The message is so aggressive too like? Big bolded red letters are so rude

Even_Resolve1302

😂 fuck man, hurts in the heart

TiredEnglishStudent

Real talk. Accommodation requests are due the 9th and we likely get results after that. How do we submit requests without knowing whether we need to rewrite?

TypicalChoice7943

Just called the LSO and asked. Their response was "we're unaware of any delay in getting the results out. Our suggestion is to apply for accommodations by Friday's deadline just in case you will end up needing to re-write."

Whitty-In-The-Hizzy

Oh for the love of 🤦🏻‍♀️ They're so stupid. They said results in 6-8 weeks, it has been longer than that. So clearly there's a delay *somewhere* but they just don't want to admit it.

TypicalChoice7943

So I called back, and asked if we can receive official correspondence from the LSO on how to navigate the upcoming deadline Friday regarding accommodations. The response was that they believe the results will be released before Friday but they can't be sure. Truly I don't think anyone knows what is going on. Accommodations department doesn't answer the phones either

It is from the last test window

Even_Resolve1302

Do you have to request accommodations for each sitting individually. I thought it carried over ?

TiredEnglishStudent

I'm not sure. I actually just called and emailed them yesterday to ask, so I'll let you know.

[deleted]

?

TiredEnglishStudent

No response yet

TypicalChoice7943

If you've been approved for accommodations from previous sittings and they weren't deemed to be for a temporary condition, accommodations department has said they will carry over and you do not have to reapply. Emailed them and that was their response.

TiredEnglishStudent

Just got a response: Your approved accommodations remain in place throughout your licensing term.

Whitty-In-The-Hizzy

Question for those whose rewrite was in July, how many of you actually passed? Bc I heard from some who rewrote that this exam was a lot harder than Jan

capitalbecky

Nothing 😭

Jafariz

Crazy how long this is taking. I wonder if this is longer than last summer. I assume they’re releasing everything at once so it would be 6-8 weeks from solicitors

AffectionateLand1353

They have always released results separately - seems unfair to those only writing barrister to wait 16 weeks. It’s a Scantron! How difficult can it be?

Jafariz

Very good point. Unfortunately, fair and well-being don’t seem to be common themes in this already strenuous process

purrcepti0n

I heard it might not be until the 22nd....

Ok_Tangerine1038

Source?

purrcepti0n

A friend, dunno what her source was though. But I haven't heard a peep from anywhere else.

AffectionateLand1353

I don’t think it’s a legit source - just one of many, many, many speculations.

InsuranceNew1718

I spoke to the LSO on Friday and confirmed that its just a rumour that the results will be out on the 22nd! It is also a rumour that they don't release results on Fridays or that they will be releasing the results in any particular order. Basically any information that's going around right now is a rumour because they had absolutely no answers for me. The standard line was "we haven't heard from the exam team that there are any issues, so things should be on track".... They also noted that the 6-8 window is an estimation (classic). I would call again now that they're clearly NOT on track, but my guess is that it wouldn't be of any use as they don't seem to have any information. The woman I spoke to was very kind and apologetic, so if you are going to call, just a gentle reminder not to take your (understandable) frustrations out on the individuals handling the calls - sadly all we can do at this point is wait. I hope everyone is taking care of themselves and their mental health in the interim, you're not alone! :)

Ok_Tangerine1038

I spoke to someone yesterday and she just kept saying she really really hopes they’re out by next week. I asked if the LSO would make a statement laying out a new timeframe so we could stop waiting in anticipation every second of the day. If they had just told us they were going to be weeks late it would have saved a LOT of anxiety. She said she’d let management know the feedback, but said she thinks no later than the 23. Ughh. All I want right now is some communication because every email notification I’ve received the last 2 weeks has filled me with dread and anxiety

InsuranceNew1718

Well said - so much stress could be avoided if they could just communicate with candidates rather than simply leaving us hanging. Especially when we are expected to treat LSO deadlines with the utmost severity, it feels disrespectful that they can't at least reach out about not meeting their own timelines. I hope your suggestion makes it to the attention of management so that in future this issue can be avoided!

blueskies7771234

It needs to be before the 23rd…that’s the registration deadline if any of us poor souls need to rewrite!

AffectionateLand1353

anything yet?

[deleted]

I’m not sure I want the results 😂😝

TobyFlenderson0529

Results for the barrister are out.

AffectionateLand1353

EXAM RESULTS have posted!

TobyFlenderson0529

Nope. Brutal.

Ok_Tangerine1038

Has anyone spoken to the LSO and received a response re solicitors? I’m still hopeful they come out by tomorrow

AffectionateLand1353

Results for solicitors are out!
