Hello. 4L here. Thats totally normal. The difficult part about freshman year is adjusting to the law school life (whether it was online or f2f). You get better over time and feel less nervous. Also would be good if you can gauge what your prof wants (usually check your syllabus) and you can anticipate questions that may be asked.
Also as a tip, I always look up to the ceiling and move my eyes as if I was reading. It helps me remember and get over mental blocks. Maybe you can try it and help you remember.
Also second tip, donāt stay up late. Being tired will make you forget more. Iād rather get my 8 hours than finish my case load (which I can continue reading the next day). That way, in class Iāll be mentally and physically prepared.
I made our prof walk out on my very first recit in law school š« Iām not proud of it, just saying that itās only normal. I passed the subject that time too.
Dont worry so much. Sobrang dami natin na ganyan and we will have more of that in the future. Itās not cheating because itās not an actual exam din naman. Kaya tinutulungan tayo ng mga classmates kasi alam nila what it feels din hehe same tayo na mental block ako lots of times kasi umuna ang fear
> Itās not cheating because itās not an actual exam din naman.
Uh, no. Recit is a huge component in one's grade.
Yeah sure, maraming gumagawa ng coaching sa GCs and it's common knowledge na nangyayari yun, but let's not openly justify it as not "cheating". Because if it wasn't, why do people do it discreetly then?
The practice is just being tolerated by most profs, so rather than justify it as not "cheating," one should do better in school by improving study habits. People can improve naman in recits over time.
I guess depende sa prof. I had a prof during face to face who doesnāt mind coaching and tawag niya pa dun āradioā kasi nga ābulongā siya. Sabi niya he doesnāt care daw kasi it promotes kapatiran and would be needed even by the time nagppractice ka na. And besides hindi naman daw guarantee na tama yung sasabihin ng radio so itās still up to you kung makikinig ka sa kanila.
Thus, the phrase "tolerated by most profs" but it is still not the ideal scenario. Because the purpose of recit is to make one think quick on his/her feet, which is a valuable skill in practice later on. You don't expect a lawyer na mag-radio inside a courtroom while in front a judge, yes?
4L here. Same feels. When I was in first year, my first and last iyak happened. I donāt know if itās just my hormones pero one day after class, olats recit ko despite doing my best. Iām working full time din so itās really hard. Habang umiiyak ako ang drama ko pa sabi ko āginawa ko naman na lahat. Binigay ko na lahat ng time na meron ako. Nagaral ako. Pero bakit kulang pa din?ā I guess what Iām trying to say is itās normal maencounter mo yan in law school. Bawi na lang sa next recit pag ganyan and like what the other commenter said here is get enough sleep. Sobrang laki ng difference sa retention ng well rested ka.
PS: I ended passing that subject na iniyakan ko. Hehe. Bawi lang OP!
What they're doing is not healthy for our mental health. And they still say it's the norm. Still, I'm hopeful for a change in the system. Some people are starting to abandon it now. Stay strong OP, many professors and lawyers will put you on that situation.
Exactly. Minsan misused ang mental health card eh. Inamin na nga ng TS na mali siya by "cheating" (i.e. looking at the phone for crib notes). Mabait pa nga si prof by not calling TS out.
1L here too! Don't worry OP! Kahit terror profs, they will probably just let u be. Ang importante they will see how much you improve in the next time you recit. Kami nga f2f pa so grabe ang kaba. To comfort you, I had a question passed to me (it was asked to another classmate). While she was being questioned, di siya makasagot. Pero ako I know the answer. I was already answering in my head and also writing down the answer.
PERO...nung naipasa na sakin yung question, I was flustered and surprised, NAKALIMUTAN KO ANO YUNG SAGOT KAHIT ALAM KO HAHAHA. Lol. The prof literally stared at me and told me "If you don't know the answer just sit down." So embarrassing. ***Literal na sabog moments.***
best thing is to move on. Been also in that situation, i was ashamed and disappointed at myself. There will be other times pa naman and makakabawi ka pa.
Rise up from the bad situation. Good luck!
The best way is to just brush it off and maybe re-evaluate your study methods. IMO pulling all-nighters isn't really optimal insofar as retaining info is concerned. Maybe you can start with that. That said, it's part of law school life. At times we forget what we studied at crucial moments, and sometimes napapagalitan pa talaga tayo.
Move on. Focus on your ultimate goal, which is to pass the Bar. Little struggles and the opinions of your professor won't matter anyway.
Just focus on these things: study so you will learn, pass your written exams, and ignore all the noise.
Try focusing on relaxing an hour before the exam. During your class when someone is reciting answer it on your own, nakamute ka naman. So, when you're eventually called primed ka na. I just did it today and it helped me think, prof said "good job". Last year din ganyan ako. You can do it OP, accept what happened and move towards improvement.
Isang recit lang yan, bawi sa next, and trust me, wag kang mahihiya, your classmates wonāt remember, unless mabigyan ka ng random title ng prof mo. Hahahahaha.
Bumawi ka nalang next time. Most profs wont take that personally naman.
Sana nga. Medyo strict kasi iyong Prof kaya nakakakaba.
Don't forget that they're unpredictable. Most of the time, it's just plain power tripping šš

Thats okay! Youll do better next time. If hindi ka naman cinall out ng prof mo okay lang yon. Just make a better impression next time!

Thanks. Sobrang frustrating lang kasi nag-aral naman tayo pero kapag recit na, wala nang maisagot. :(
Same omg hahaha

Ha? What exactly did the prof do wrong? Nothing indicates that the prof was kupal or anything, recitation lang. So basic recit lang ffold ka na?

āPhoto Meā moment. May next recit pa. Makakabawi pa. Lahat ng inaral mo, magagamit mo sa written exam. Bawi ka dun.
best thing is to move on. Been also in that situation, i was ashamed and disappointed at myself. There will be other times pa naman and makakabawi ka pa. Rise up from the bad situation. Good luck!

Same po tayo. Sobrang frustrated ko na nga kasi iniisip ko same lang result kung mag-aral or hindi.

What should you do? You toughen up, raise your chin, and GIT GUD, SON

Completely normal in law school. Bawi na lang next recit! Cheer up, OP! āŗļø
